The large upstairs master is 20’ x 20’ and has a vaulted ceiling and king-sized bed. Step off the deck into the aspen shade for the picnic table, fire pit, hammock and Adirondack benches by the creek.
The area borders millions of acres of National Forest wilderness for hiking. The cabin is just minutes from the best rafting in the west, fly fishing, mineral hot springs, trail rides and golf. Visit the nearby ghost town of St. Elmo and feed chipmunks. Rent a jeep or ATVs in Buena Vista or Salida.
Sample both mountain towns of Salida and Buena Vista—the cabin is exactly between these Arkansas River tourist getaways---just a 15 minute drive in either direction. Enjoy the many restaurants, including the Boathouse Cantina and High Side Restaurant, where you can sip a drink and watch kayakers on the Arkansas River. Amicas microbrewery offers wood-fired pizza and salads. Currents restaurant has good food and live music many evenings. Sitting by the creek with the fire going was perfect. Like a good camping trip with all the comforts of home. Easy access to everything without being in town.
They had everything we needed to make our stay so enjoyable!

We furnished the cabin for our second home, and appreciate that so many guests enjoy the comforts.
We have views of the mountains from both the upper and lower decks, plus a grill and covered seating on the lower level with a creek view. Or, just a few steps down and we have seating and a fire pit by the creek....a great place to unwind after a day in the mountains.
This lovely home and incredible setting exceeded our expectations. Our host was accommodating and once we arrived we immediately felt welcome. Great care has been taken to make visitors feel at home. The decor is charming and comfortable inside, well maintained, with everything we might possibly have needed during our stay. For us, the highlight was sitting next to Browns Creek in the morning and evening, and hearing the creek as we went to sleep each night. We hope to return again soon!

We are so glad you stayed with us for a week for your April spring break.Even in April you can get good skiing just up the road in Monarch---or even Ski Cooper.
Our 3-bedroom place is perfect for a family. It's a great place to make vacation memories, with games and puzzles by the fireplace. And it's usually warm enough to get out on the lower trails for a bit of hiking.
And there are lots of shops and art galleries in the nearby towns of Buena Vista and Salida. We love experiencing springtime in the Rockies. Thanks for your kind comments!
We had a great stay. The cabin is on such a beautiful setting and an ideal location between Salida and Buena Vista. Owners were super responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend to families!
We had the BEST time in this beautiful, secluded spot. Rick and Jenny were gracious, helpful, communicative, and just made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. The cabin was just what we were hoping for - a beautiful, quaint, clean spot for our family to relax amidst the mountains.
Check in was seamless. Kitchen is one of the best equipped I have seen in a VRBO rental. It has everything you need right down to the spices, cooking oils, ziplock bags, and Aluminum foil. Really amazing. The cabin was clean cute and a wonderful location. Right on the stream so you can enjoy the solitude every morning and evening outside. Great views of Mt Antero and a perfect location halfway between both Buena Vista and Salida. It's just a beautiful location and Rick the owner was a delight to work with. Very responsive. I highly recommend this property. We will for sure be back.
House was beautiful with great views and your own piece of Brown’s Creek. Rick was very helpful and great to work with. Location is great for rafting, shopping, dining out, hiking, fishing and many other things to do in the area. Will definitely book again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this cabin tucked in at the base of mount Antero but convenient to local towns of Buena Vista & Salida. We acclimated here in preparation for a longer stay at altitude and enjoyed hikes, fishing high country lakes, and floated the Arkansas. Great amenities and communication with host.
My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to stay in Colorado that wasn't too far from family and this place hit everything. Quiet & beautiful. Would definitely recommend to others.
We stayed at this cabin to get away from the city for a few days. It did not disappoint! The creek and the firepit were the our highlights! We drove up to St. Elmo, hiked and went to Cache Creek to find gold. Its the perfect cabin to getaway and relax. We will be definbe back.
The cabin was great. Loved listening to the creek flow. Cabin kitchen was very well stocked. Rick was very informative throughout the process and even checked on us once we got checked in. Loved the location. Would stay again.

So glad you two and your young one could do a weekend getaway. Spring is a great time to be in the mountains. I hope you come back over the years and stay with us more. What better place to teach a youngster to fish than our creek! Plus the sound of the creek in May and June makes for great sleeping.
Thanks for picking our cabin for your getaway.
The cabin was cozy, comfortable and had all we needed. We could tell how much the owners treasure their mountain place. We enjoyed sitting by the stream and hearing it during the night. The location worked well for our activities of hiking and being in nature. If we needed to access a town, Buena Vista and Salida were within reach.

Great Family Vacation
Our family had a great time at this house and drove daily to Monarch Mt for our Spring Break. The house was very clean, stocked with the need cooking equipment, board games and wood fireplace. The property even had an outdoor fire pit and stream to sit by and relax.
Plenty of room and comfortable for a family. Look forward to going back in the future.

We really love to host families, so glad you spent your spring break at our cabin. Spring skiing at Monarch is awesome (and affordable), plus the temps are usually mild. So as a bonus, the weather is perfect for lighting a fire and sitting by our creek after a day on the slopes. The water must have been really roaring with the early spring melt. And, you mentioned one of the highlights was taking short drive to soak away the soreness in the hot springs. Since you're outdoor folks, hope you're able to try us in the summer--the trailhead for the Colorado Trail is just over a mile west of us.
Thanks again.
Our family had a great time. We loved the secluded cabin and the access to Buena Vista and Salida. Going to bed with the windows open and falling asleep to the sounds of Browns Creek was awesome. Rick is a wonderful host. Very flexible and easy to reach if needed. We were blessed to find one of the coolest places in Colorado to make memories with our daughters!

About the host
Hosted by Rick Wolff
We live in the Kansas City area, and enjoy exploring Colorado. In the fall, we hike trails to mountain lakes and waterfalls, and we enjoy watching the aspens turn golden. During the winter and spring break we ski Monarch, relax at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and return to the cabin for crock pot steak soup. Summers are awesome for white water rafting and enjoying area festivals including FIBArk (First in Boating on the Arkansas), Art Walk, Brewers Rendezvous, Fine Arts Festival, Gold Rush Days and Fourth of July fireworks in Riverside Park.
Why they chose this property
We grew up in a small town, and love returning to Salida and Buena Vista for the community feel. This area has all that a Colorado vacation can offer and it is very affordable. Locals call the Upper Arkansas River Valley the Banana Belt; the geography and weather patterns bring more moderate winters.
What makes this property unique
The cabin lets you get away without being too remote. Enjoy the restful seclusion of our creek. Ready to get active? We're one mile from the Colorado Trail with access to Brown's Creek Falls, and we're 3 miles from beautiful and challenging Brown's Canyon--now a newly protected national monument.
Drive 40 minutes north to historic Twin Lakes and experience a relaxing hike to the 1800s Interlaken Resort. Or a bit further north is the mining town of Leadville; catch the scenic train to 1,000-ft. above the Arkansas River headwaters.
Or turn south and take a day trip and picnic to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, an awesome geological wonder; afterwards, cool off at Zapata Falls. Or on the way home soak in Joyful Journey Hot Springs where you can watch the Sangre de Cristo range turn pink at sunset. Just over the Continental divide is the awe-inspiring Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
