Welcome! Our mountain retreat offers the perfect combination of beautiful scenery and comfortable amenities. We are conveniently located near historic Mentone, Alabama making our home an ideal destination for a quiet romantic getaway or a vacation packed with fun outdoor activities for an entire family. Hawk's Nest Hideaway is always CLEAN and FRESH to assure your stay is most enjoyable. Enjoy the secluded acres, the clear running creek. Take a soak in the hot tub while waiting for the charcoal grill to heat up. A fire ring. Blueberry plants that produce fruit in July. Plenty of natural flowering plants and trees including dogwood, mountain laurel and rhododendron.

Enjoy beautiful natural hiking trails and breathtaking waterfalls. The scenic drives are a must-do especially for motorcycle enthusiasts. Your days can be filled with canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, antique shopping or golfing. The newly opened Little River Canyon Field School is a an exciting addition to this area. Stop in to see how they run off the grid and totally 'Green'

Any time of year, any season, Lookout Mountain is always beautiful and the views enchanting.
Spring offers popping green growth, wildflowers, roaring waterfalls. Summer, a cool swimming hole waiting around every bend and a picnic spot most times in perfect seclusion. Fall has of course wonderful colors of reds and gold with the winds swaying the trees. Winter offers the best of hiking, the crunch of leaves under your feet, the undisturbed view through the woods so you can see the massive rock formations and often times snow.

We loved our stay at this property. Everything was clean, well organized, and just as listed. The kids had a great time fishing and even set my alarm for 6am when "the fish would be hungry".

Quiet tucked away by a creek and a pond but close to amenities. Home was so clean and hot tub was a cherry on top. Kitchen was well equipped, so was the bathrooms. Love our stay. Yoki, the pup came to visit.

Great "nest" in the woods!

The house was perfect for our vacation. It was clean and well stocked. It was really cold outside and the hot tub was amazing! We built a fire in the fire ring and roasted hot dogs and made s'mores. I didn't make it down to the creek but my son and granddaughter did and they loved it. It couldn't have been any better. We loved the location too.

Perfect getaway!!

My husband and I were looking for a quick last minute weekend getaway, and we hit the jackpot! If you are looking for somewhere that is secluded without the crowds, I highly recommend this place. As advertised, we did not have cell phone signal but the wifi worked very well for us and we were able to stay in contact with family when needed. This offered me great peace of mind because we could check in with our children often, and we were able to relax and enjoy a stress free weekend together. I hope we are able to come back again!

Comfortable and Clean

This was likely one of the nicest and cleanest houses/ cabins we have ever stayed, and we have visited many in our 50+ yrs. of marriage. We also have owned 2 cabins in the past so we know how a cabin should.look & feel to make guests feel comfortable. My only suggestion would be a king bed in master BR, but that s just because we are used to sleeping in a King.

10 Year Anni Stay

Very clean property and close to pretty much all you would want. There was a dog that came every day and would sit on the porch and just hand out, not sure whose dog it was but it seemed friendly. Great water pressure for showers. A few things that I would change if I were the owner, new dishware, the non stick pans have lived their life, invest in a king size bed and some new living room furniture, and add some board games. Nothing major but those updates would really make this location a 5 star. Overall we would stay again and really enjoyed the property. Elevation is THE spot to eat. Make reservations. We swam in Little River, it was 45 degrees but so worth it. Fort Payne shopping is nice if you want a day to spend outside of the mountains and hiking.

Excellent house/excellent host. Michele was very helpful and responsive. This house was one of my favorite properties of all the ones we’ve stayed in. It’s immaculate but comfy and homey at the same time. The house is very well furnished; we cooked out numerous times and had everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved the fire pit and creek area as well. Evenings in the hot tub were wonderful! Very convenient to see Chattanooga (Ruby Falls/Rock City). We also loved Mentone; there are lots of great places to eat (Hatter Cafe/Wildflower Cafe) and great shopping. Thanks, Michele-this was a terrific vacation and we loved your house so much.

Perfect place near Mentone

We loved everything about this place. Nice creek to walk down to. The pond was fun, don't expect anything big. But fun to sight fish for small bass. A lot of flowering shrubs. House was in great shape. Clean. Hot tub was nice to sit in. Mentone 10 minutes away. As close as you want to be.

Great place for a Girls Trip

My home is in Louisiana but quickly fell in love with the Mentone/Lookout Mountain region. I never tire of the beauty or the people and I hope you fall in love too.

Why they chose this property

We have traveled to Lookout Mountain for many years and decided we wanted a vacation home in this unspoiled area. It is so convenient to many other destinations and we often have intentions of using Hawk's Nest Hideaway as the headquarter for further adventures, but we end up falling in love with what the area has to offer in views and outings so we stay and never venture any further than a days drive away. Any time of year, any season we have never been disappointed.

What makes this property unique

This area is unique in that there is a little known fact that Little River Canyon is the deepest river canyon besides the Grand Canyon the USA and the river flows entirely on the top of the mountain. This area is so pristine, clean, uncluttered and unique. You will truly fall in love and want to return many many times. I welcome you and your family to my home.
