Zenful Avo-Cottage w/hot tub — 5 min from the beach & hiking!
Located on a five-acre coastal farm in the quaint, picturesque ocean-side city of Carpinteria, The Avo-Cottage awaits your getaway. This tiny house cottage has everything from ocean and mountain views to a seven-hole putting green. Conveniently located, the beach is minutes away, while the Franklin trail is right outside your doorsteps. Carpinteria offers excellent dining, bars, and beautiful sightseeing. End the day by relaxing in the hot tub. Enjoy all that Santa Barbara County has to offer. Other things to note: The Cottage is a two-unit Tiny House. Everything in the pictures displays the entire space you get with the Cottage; there is no shared space. The Double bed is in the large loft(grey unit). The loft is in cottage unit with the kitchen. The Main bedroom has a queen bed and door access to the bathroom(green unit). Those who sleep in the kitchen unit with the loft should know that you will have to walk on the deck to enter the bathroom, but the Tiny House units are only 4 feet apart (so they are very close together).

Everything was great. We arrived late and the host messaged that they left the lights on for us which was very nice. Super quiet and relaxing. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks again!

Summer Stay
Our stay at the tiny house was a mix of pros and cons. First, be aware that the listing is a bit confusing — the "tiny house" is actually two separate structures: one contains a queen bed and the bathroom, while the other houses the kitchen and two beds in a loft. While the concept is creative and has a lot of potential, the maintenance left something to be desired. The front door to the kitchen structure had large gaps, which allowed bugs and spiders to get in, even when shut. We also noticed spider webs in both houses. The outdoor space could use some upkeep — leaves covered the deck and furniture, and ants were all over the outdoor seating area. There were a few things we really did enjoy: the hot tub was clean and in great condition, and the grill worked perfectly — both were definite highlights of our stay.A couple of other notes for future guests: the property is next to a farm, so you may hear roosters, and it’s also close to a pot farm, which some guests may want to know in advance. Additionally, there was no washer, even though it was listed as an amenity. In short, this place has great potential with its unique layout and peaceful setting, but it could use more attention to detail, especially when it comes to cleanliness.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Avo-cottage. I was a little worried that we (four adults) would be cramped or uncomfy in a tiny house, but as soon as we got there I saw that this would absolutely not be the case. We were completely taken in by the unique and adorable set up, which is perfect for a memorable and fun stay in the beautiful Carpinteria weather. We didn’t have time to use the hot tub but my husband putted around quite a bit and the patio furniture was where we spent most of our time. All the beds were comfortable and there was not one thing we needed while there that wasn’t already on site. We loved everything about the place and would 100% stay again!

Carp Tiny House
Our family spent three nights at this two-tiny-house property, rating it 7/10 by tiny house standards.
Location Highlights:
Close to downtown Carp, with beautiful orchard views and minimal neighbors. Quiet setting with occasional farm animal sounds. Narrow road requires careful navigation.
Amenities:
Well-supplied with towels, personal items, and extras like boogie boards. Outdoor area includes a hammock and seating. Strong Wi-Fi and good cell service. Owner was responsive and friendly.
Challenges:
Significant discrepancies between VRBO listing and actual amenities - no pool or washer/dryer as advertised. Structures slightly slanted, causing potential item-rolling issues. Dirt driveway becomes muddy in wet weather. Ant infestations in multiple areas.
Climate Concerns:
No central heating/cooling. Guests must use portable heaters, fans, and a dehumidifier for temperature management.
Cleanliness:
Reasonably clean by tiny house standards, though showing some wear.
Best For:
Travelers seeking a unique, unconventional accommodation who don't mind some rustic imperfections. Ideal for those wanting to experience something different from traditional lodging.
Recommendation:
Consider carefully if this quirky property meets your specific travel needs and expectations.
My wife and I really liked this property because of the fenced in yard with hot tub and putting greens. Given we had two kids under 3, they needed to be able to run when we were there. My three year old loved calling the loft his bedroom! Would stay there again.
Carpinteria is just a special place. Paul’s tiny homes gave us a chance to experience it. Definitely read the description as there are quirks to this property. It’s two separate homes. The kitchen home has two lofts… one w/ a queen bed & one w/ a twin. The bedroom home has the bathroom. Those staying in the lofts need to go outside to get to the bathroom, but there is an exterior door directly into the bathroom. You’re on a farm, so there are animals including roosters nearby. It’s a 10 minute drive or less into town.
A unique, fun, charming property that had lots of privacy! We enjoyed the AvoCottage so much! The mini-mini golf course was a hoot. And the setting was great, once we found it in the dark. The owner was great and responsive. I recommend to anyone looking for something different, yet has plenty of creature comforts.
