About this property
CastAway Waterfront Rustic Cabin Very Private With Outdoor Cabana
Come relax in this luxurious new log cabin. Castaway Cabin is unlike any other properties in the area and is situated at the end of the road on a private 65 acre estate located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains This very private getaway is just 25 minutes from Asheville and the Biltmore Estate and 10 minutes from downtown Waynesville. CastAway Cabin is along the elegant/rustic flavor. Just minutes away from Cataloochee snow skiing as well as hiking and fishing. The lawn just in front of the cabin gently slopes to the river just steps from the front porch.
CastAway Cabin is located 1 mile from I-40 exit 24 and 25 minutes from downtown Asheville. Take a mere 10 minute drive and enjoy all that downtown Waynesville or Maggie Valley has to offer from fine dining to some of the best breweries in the area. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs all along this area and the cabin is just minutes away from several of its entrances.
CastAway Cabin is constructed from mostly reclaimed materials. After a lifetime of tearing down old barns and cabins it was time to put some of the reclaimed wood to good use. The oak logs were all reclaimed from standing dead timber right here on the property. The ceilings throughout the cabin are made from reclaimed beetle kill ash trees harvested just across the river. The flooring is made from 100+ year old reclaimed heart pine. All of the trim work in the cabin is reclaimed barn wood salvaged from local barns that we have dismantled through the years.
Fishing in this area is a big attraction so bring your fishing poles and get lost in the beauty of the western North Carolina mountains. Take a short stroll down the front lawn and be fishing within minutes of your arrival or set up a guided float trip or fly fishing excursion with some of our highly recommended local guides.
The cabin offers one bedroom with a king size bed and pillow top mattress. The bathroom is well equipped with full sized front load washer and dryer as well as a beautiful travertine shower. The kitchen has most everything for your cooking needs. The cozy living room has a beautiful natural native stone fireplace with gas logs. The TVs in both the living room and the bedroom are internet TVs so you can watch all your favorite shows on Netflix …etc.
Stroll out to the cabana and fire up the grill and enjoy the sound of the river passing by. You will more than likely see some kind of wildlife during your stay from the deer, bear, turkeys, squirrels, hawks and the bald eagles that patrol the river.
CastAway Cabin is truly a one of a kind getaway and is a working farm as well. The property is home to a cattle herd and our daughters horse Rosie that all frequent the field just in front of the cabin.
With four unique private log homes available on the property now…Riverbend Cabin (listing number 7843149), Paradise Cabin (listing number 1148597), and Cedar Cliff Cabin (listing number 2232038) and now CastAway Cabin please message us to reserve multiple cabins for your family getaway.
We hope that your visit to the mountains of Western North Carolina and stay in our cabin creates memories that will stay with you forever. Please respect the cabin and treat it as if it were your own as we respect you as a customer.
