Great property. Super clean. A/C is top notch. The hot tub was clean and worked well. TV was nice and swiveled. Well thought out and attention to details in this adorable treehouse. Nice quiet. Easy check in. We were in town for a wedding and enjoyed our stay with our pooch. My only suggestion would be to add a portable luggage stand.
We really enjoyed our stay here! Tom, the host, is very friendly. We had the pleasure of meeting him, which made our trip even better. He really wants to ensure that you are comfortable, feel welcomed, and have a great stay. Communication was outstanding. The place was very clean, and we had everything we needed and more. This was hands down our best cabin rental experience we have had! The cabin was in a great central location which allowed us to visit state parks and the Shawnee National Forest. The deck with the hot tub and fire pit were a great way to wind down and relax after hiking.

Glad you enjoyed the hot tub and “Solo Stove” fire pit.
We hope to have you visit again!
The cabin was nice and cozy. The deck was relaxing. It was mostly clean, only thing was the sofa had animal hair on it but a lint roller took care of that. Communication with the host was great. Overall it was very nice.

Thank you so much for your positive response and feedback about the pet hair. We strive to have the cabin clean and free of pet and have taken extra steps to make sure all furniture is free of pet hair.
Very well furnished for dogs. There was even a little fenced in area for bathroom breaks in the backyard. Hot tub and the grill worked great. Kitchen had everything you need to cook a meal. Beautiful sunrise views off the back deck.
An absolute gem surrounded by all nature has to offer! Extremely clean! Hot tub was AWESOME after a long day of hiking. Tom was an excellent host and has thought of everything you need for your stay. The upper deck was perfect for morning coffee while listening to the birds and watching the deer move through the property. Great location to get to all areas of Shawnee National Forest.

Liked: Check-in
Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
This property is not ready for the season. The lounge pool was not near being close to being opened. It’s advertised as May-Sept., we stayed after Memorial Day weekend, basically June. The outdoor shower hasn’t even been cleaned out for the season. There’s more ants in the kitchen than there was anywhere outside. The hot tub was dirty. The solo stove and wood provided was highlights of the stay. Very disappointed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We take guest concerns seriously and appreciate all feedback as an opportunity to improve.
Our goal is to provide every guest with a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We also strive to address any concerns during a guest's stay so that issues can be resolved promptly. In both our initial welcome message and our follow-up communication, we invited you to contact us if you had any questions or encountered any problems. Unfortunately, we did not receive any phone calls, emails, text messages, or VRBO messages regarding the concerns outlined in your review. Had we been made aware of these issues during your stay, we would have done everything possible to address them immediately.
Regarding the lounge pool, it is listed as a seasonal amenity. Due to weather-related delays earlier in the season, the pool opening was postponed. We understand this may have been disappointing and apologize for any inconvenience.
The outdoor shower was inspected and found to be fully operational. During a subsequent inspection, we noted a small accumulation of leaves in one corner of the shower area, which has since been cleared.
With respect to insects, our cabin is located in a wooded, natural setting. While we take preventative pest-control measures and regularly inspect the property, occasional encounters with insects can occur in outdoor environments. Again, had this been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have gladly arranged for maintenance to inspect the area.
The hot tub is professionally cleaned and inspected prior to each guest's arrival. We were not notified of any concerns regarding its condition during your stay, which prevented us from having the opportunity to evaluate and address the issue at that time.
We appreciate your positive comments regarding the Solo Stove and complimentary firewood. However, we would also like to note that our cabin guide requests that guests allow ashes and coals to cool completely before replacing the cover and that ashes be disposed of in the designated compost area. Following your departure, hot coals were discovered in the fire pit with the cover replaced. Fortunately, no damage occurred.
Similarly, the grill was left with significant grease buildup. During the turnover for the next guests, a grease fire occurred when the grill was used and had to be extinguished. While our cleaning team reported that the cabin was otherwise left in very good condition, these particular items required additional attention.
In summary, we are disappointed that we were not given the opportunity to address the concerns raised during your stay. We are committed to providing excellent accommodations and responsive service, and we encourage all guests to contact us immediately should any issues arise so that we can work to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.
We appreciate your stay and wish you the very best in your future travels.

The hot tub was great. The cabin is near several state parks to go hiking in. The bed was super comfortable! The deck was very nice but unfortunately we only saw one deer. The owner was very quick to message back to us and was easy to communicate with.

I'm a middle school teacher and coach up north. I love the outdoors; hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, and the lake! I'm excited to share this cabin with others when I'm not here with small groups of kids for outdoor adventures!
Why they chose this property
I've been bringing kids down to Southern Illinois for many years for camping and outdoor adventure. Feryn Clyffe and Giant City State Park are awesome!!! My cabin in located on a quiet dead end street.
What makes this property unique
The deck on the second floor offers a beautiful view of the dry creek behing the cabin. The elevated deck provides a "treehouse" type feel. Relax in the hammock while listening to the birds and wind chime.
