About this property

Cozy Charming Quiet Studio a few meters from Villa Borghese - a/C, Wifi, TV SaT

Nestled in the residential Parioli-Salario district, (Gaetano's) Nino's house is located in the heart of Rome, just a few steps away from the tranquility of Villa Borghese, one of the largest landscaped gardens in Rome, and from Via Veneto, probably the most famous, elegant and trendy street in Rome.

On the first floor of a beautiful historic building at via Basento 55, a quiet and elegant street, the apartment overlooks the blooming inner courtyard, and thanks to the double-glazed windows, it is a perfect choice for those seeking a relaxing holiday in The Eternal City, without giving up a central location.

Recently renovated, Nino’s House is divided into 2 levels: on the lower level, a large and bright living area furnished with a comfortable sofa bed (perfect for 1 adult or for 2 children), a dining table for 4 people, and a TV.

A beautiful staircase leads to the large mezzanine level which has a double bed and a spacious wardrobe. A personal computer is available for our guests. Both the living and the sleeping area are enlightened by 2 large windows.

A modern kitchen, fully equipped with oven, microwave, washing machine, etc. and bathroom with shower complete this spotless apartment in Rome.

Nino’s House is tastefully furnished with both tiled and parquetry floor, and it is absolutely perfect for a couple looking for a romantic week-end in Rome or for a small family: it can sleep up to 3/4 people.

Fully equipped with heating and air conditioning, WiFi Internet connection, personal computer, direct dial telephone (calls throughout Italy included in price), hair dryer, iron and ironing board and full size fridge.

The area around the apartment is full of many typical Italian restaurants, a department store, as well as numerous shops.

Fabulous stay in Rome

The apartment was much brighter and more comfortable than I expected. Two large windows and plenty of light, quieter area of town. You could walk everywhere, and Nino was very helpful with ready advice on everything. Grazie mille Nino! I hope to come back someday!

Thank you for the lovely stay

Nino is a great host who looks after you and provides you with good tips. He also organises a taxi to and from the airport. The location of the flat is great, in a nice neighbourhood. It takes half an hour by bus to get to most of the sights. The flat is very nice in its old-fashioned way, everything you need is there. The upper mezzanine floor is only 1.75 metres high, so if you're taller you have to duck down, but that's not really a problem.

Beautiful Escape in a Busy City

If you are coming to Rome, this should be your first choice. Everything about the stay was great. Location is just outside the busiest parts of the city which helps it remain peaceful. Everything you want is a nice walk or a short bus ride away. The host Gaetano, is what makes the stay magical. Try all the food he recommends, especially the gelato! Plus he helped to arrange transport and made our stay especially pleasant. In a busy city, this cozy rental is an oasis of relaxation. Highly encourage you to consider it.

A Great Roman Holiday Stay

My wife and I were really pleased and satisfied with our stay at Nino's! The location felt safe and clean. It was a 5 minute walk away from the Borghese Museum and easy access to public transportation to reach further sites, such as Vatican City. There are nice restaurants and grocery stores nearby to satisfy all the desires of a Foodie. The apartment has everything you need and the bed was comfortable. Our 3 night stay was amazing, but not long enough. Nino was a wonderful host and we instantly felt like we had a friend in Italy. We will definitely return and look forward to reserving Nino's place for our next Roman Holiday!

Beautiful apartment in a very safe area, wonderful host!

My husband and I rented Nino's apartment for a week. I can't say enough about it . Nino is very personable and speaks many languages. He showed us around the area, where to get the tram, bus, etc. The apartment is within a block of all transportation to see the major sites. To get the best review, to which I agree 100%, read what Daniel M has to say about it.

We enjoyed our stay in Rome!

We enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. Our host was very gracious and kind. It was a very secure apartment in a lovely part of Rome. It was about a 1/2 hour walk to the Spanish Steps and about a ten minute walk to the Borghese Gallery. Once we learned the bus schedules getting around was easy. In the immediate neighbourhood there are excellent restaurants and gelato, markets, etc. Nino was very informative and gave us lots of very good recommendations. The apartment was equipped well with everything you need.

Very clean and great neighborhood!

Nino is a wonderful host, and yes, he does live right next door (the apartments share a main front door). He was very helpful for first-timers in Rome- showing us around the neighborhood, where the grocery store, bus, tram stops, etc, were. The apartment is very clean, spacious, and the neighborhood always felt safe, even walking around in the evening. It was a great value and a good location, even for first-timers! (Note for those with physical limitations: There is a very small weight limited elevator, but first you must walk up a small set of stairs to get to it.)

Nino’s House - Authentic Taste of Rome

Since we had never visited Rome, we wanted to experience the life as a native. From the beginning stages of planning our week stay, Nino acted as our unofficial guide. The apartment looked exactly like the picture depicted. It is located in a safe area, close to the tram and bus. Nino mapped out our destinations and transportation routes, and we had no problem navigating around Rome. Staying at Nino’s House was our best decision ever; we got an authentic taste of the “Eternal City” and experienced the culture and warmth of the people.

Great apartment near transit

From the beginning the communication was fantastic as well as check in. Nino spent a lot of time introducing us to the area including walking us to the bus stops and explaining how the transit system worked. He booked our reservation for dinner the 1st night as well. Each day he check in asking how our day was and if we needed any suggested or had any questions. The apartment was very clean and organized. The building has an elevator which was fantastic for our luggage going up to the 2nd floor. The only downside is that the loft area where the bed is has a low ceiling so if you are on the taller side you just need to not jump out of bed. Besides that, which did not really effect our stay, I would rent here again.

Excellent place to see Rome and enjoy the local scene

Location is conveniently close to major tourist sites via bus/metro and even walking. Villa Borghese nearby is another plus. Neighborhood is charming and includes some amazing architecture. Apartment accommodations were as described and especially great for longer stays or for those who want to do some of their own cooking and laundry. Clean and in good condition with only potential drawback being the low ceiling in the bedroom loft (if you’re fairly tall, but not really an issue if you’re laying down, right?) The Landlord, “Nino”, is extremely kind and engaging. He speaks English well, gave us a tour of the neighborhood, provided his best recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants, and even played some ping pong with us! (at a local games venue). Great price, and we would have gladly paid more. We will definitely try to book again next time in Rome. Thanks Nino!

A great place

We had a delightful week in this apartment. It was very clean, comfortable, well set up, secure and quiet. Nino is a most interesting, welcoming and helpful host. He guided us around the charming area and even showed us his favourite supermarket. Because we are foodies we appreciated the nearby daily market and the great kitchen which even had reasonable cooking knives. Having visited Rome several times we were after 'off the tourist beaten track' experiences and the apartment was very well located for that with quite a few very interesting sites nearby. Plus there are some very good restaurants close by but unfortunately we did not have time to get to many of them. Nino also organized our trip out to the airport. The car was punctual and the driver very good. Just wish we had more time to stay longer. Buses and trams were also very convenient. Hopefully we will be back at some time and would most certainly recommend a stay there.

Excellent experience

For no good reason that I can think of, I have missed posting my review on this wonderful property. We stayed at Nino's for 10 days in October and had a genuinely exceptional experience. My husband described the location at 'upper East Side,' with its shops, restaurants, services, parks and transportation. Nino's building has a huge entry that is pristine and well lit and the apartment itself is charming, clean and convenient. As he must do with all his guests, Nino gave us a leisurely introduction to the neighborhood and made certain that we knew how to find everything we needed. And when the laundry facilities in the apartment failed, he ensured that the laundry was done! While it might have been a tiny bit more convenient to be located closer to Rome's tourist attractions, we were thrilled to be able to experience life in this beautiful neighborhood and to learn a few Italian words from Nino. We were intrigued, in between our sojourns around Rome, to share moments with Nino and hear about the life of one family with deep roots in this wonderful city.

Cozy, comfortable, charming apartment with helpful landlord.

The apartment is well-appointed with a very well-equipped kitchen (including oven) and a clothes washing machine. It is immaculately clean. Nino, the owner is more like a host than a landlord. He gave us an orientation tour of the neighborhood (where he has lived all his life and seems to know everybody) and noted his own personal list of “must-sees” on a map. He indicated the best restaurants in the neighborhood and even made reservations for us at two of the finer ones. Nearby are a mini-mart, deli, patisserie, a range of little cafes and restaurants, very nice women's and men's clothing stores, a fresh pasta shop. Bus and tram stops are also close. The apartment is just a couple of blocks from the delightful Quaertiere Coppedè and perhaps half a mile from the Borghese Gardens and the wonderful Museum and Gallery. Nino recommended the MyTaxi app, a very efficient way of ordering taxis in Rome. He arranged for our transfer from and to the airport, which went off without a hitch. The apartment is on a large, interior courtyard, very quiet. We were very pleased with our choice and would gladly stay there again.

Trip of a lifetime

My fiancée and I spent 6 weeks in Italy with side trips to Zurich, Titisee in Germany, Innsbruck and Eze in France. We spent one week in Rome at Nino's place, a fantastic apartment in Rome, it was simply a marvelous week. Starting with the Villa Borghese Gardens a short walk from Ninos. We specifically enjoyed the location of the apartment, a nice quiet area, and with Nino's guidance to trams and buses with a walk around the area became well acquainted with many of the "local" restaurants and cafes. Our very own tour guide. We had most of our week in Rome planned and with Nino's guidance as we went through our plans for the week he prepared a map with all locations marked and made other suggestions for a fabulous week in Rome. Always nice to know someone who has the knowledge of and the best places to make it a remarkable trip. He was also able to suggest a few places on our next part of our trip which was Sicily. We mentioned Trapani and he suggested a tram to Elice which was the most memorable tram ride we have ever taken...thank you Nino, our friend in Rome, for a great experience in Rome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the listing was everything we were looking for in an apartment. Would definitely recommend the property and definitely would stay again. Hope you can come visit us in Arizona sometime soon.

A perfect place to stay while enjoying your visit to Rome

For our first visit to Rome, my wife and I wanted to stay in a quintessentially Roman studio in a location that, while accessible to the points of interest, was not itself a tourist area. This apartment was the perfect answer. Located in a magnificent building in the IV Quartiere, it is within walking distance of the Villa Borghese, with its extensive gardens and not-to-be-missed museum, the Spanish steps, and the Quartiere Coppede, an area of beautiful architecture. The studio itself is ideal for a single traveller or couple. A large sitting/dining area, brightly lit with 2 metre high windows, looks out to a courtyard with flowers and hibiscus trees. The fully-appointed kitchen allowed us to prepare anything from a cup of espresso coffee to a full evening meal, and the loft bedroom was equipped with ample closet space and a very comfortable bed. Our host Nino has spent his life in the Quartiere, and he showed his encyclopaedic knowledge of his city as he took us on a walking tour of the neighbourhood on our arrival, pointing out the bus and metro stops, street market, restaurants, bank machines, and various shops where we would find the best that Rome has to offer, greeting every second passerby and shopkeeper by name. His attention to our questions and needs was given with a smile and another interesting anecdote. He was the perfect host.

A cozy, clean and quiet flat; a charming and helpful host; and a prime location with amenities.

Three features of this VRBO rental make it a wise choice for a traveler eager to experience Rome at its best. I so chose and, after a two week sojourn, I haven’t a single regret. First, the apartment is cozy, immaculately clean and - a commodity rare to Rome in any season - supremely quiet. Moreover, the amenities are exhaustive: from refrigerator to microwave, oven to washing machine, wifi to TV, classic, stove top Italian coffee pots (caffettiere), even an umbrella - and the list goes on. Second, there is Nino himself: not only is he a font of information, but he is also courteous and ever helpful. Moreover, he himself resides next door and readily makes himself accessible to a guest’s inqueries and requests. Third: location, location, location! From fancy restaurants, to simple trattorias, pizza by-the-slice shops, and tavola caldas; a nearby, daily street market; a cab stand on the square; a supermarket around the corner; bus routes to Stazione Termini and the Piazza Venezia; Natalizia’s famous pastry shop and Sesto’s noon day dishes My own favorite haunt soon became Santi Sebastiano e Valentino, literally just around the corner on the Via Tirso 107. Whether for a morning cappuccino and corneto or an exquisitely simple luncheon meal served up on freshly baked breads and focaccias, the waitresses and bakers could not have been more friendly. On my next trip to Rome, I'll book Nino's House for sure.

Absolutely Perfect!!

My love and I visited several places in Italy and France and wanted our experiences to be unique and away from the tourist areas to appreciate the local culture. Our first stay was in Rome at Nino's place and it could not have been more perfect! We were greeted at the airport by a driver and met Nino at his apartment. He was a wonderful host! He spoke great English and was a pleasure to get to know. The apartment and area was exactly what we were looking for. It was clean and had everything we needed. Nino took us around the neighborhood, pointed out all the places we would need, and showed us the metro lines we would need to take to some of our planned attractions. We parted with him at a local market where we shopped for food. That night we cooked an amazing meal as we laid out our plans for the week. Nino assisted us with many things throughout our visit. He was always available to help and became a friend we will never forget. When we left for our next Italy destination, Nino accompanied us to our car rental place and actually traveled with us to the outskirts of town to ensure we made it on the highway to Tuscany. I have nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. Of the 4 places we stayed in Italy and Paris, this was by far the best! Thank you Nino! We look forward to visiting again someday. Gratzie!!

I am more than satisfied with my choice of the vacation rental

There are a couple of things I would like to mention at the beginning of my review. There is no metro station within a walking distance. A bedroom is located upstairs in the lofted area with a low ceiling 5’8 /173 cm. Gaetano, the owner of this apartment, responded to my inquiry almost immediately. A month before my arrival Gaetano asked about my plans in Rome and gave me some good tips that I am really thankful for. A couple of weeks before my arrival he sent me detailed message how to get to the appointment. Nino, a very nice gentleman, met me upon arrival, took time explaining where to shop for food, where to go for best ice cream, where to dine, how to get to the main attractions by local transportation. Bus stop is less than 5 min walk from an apartment. I took Nino’s advice and did my shopping at “ Doc “ market (10-15min walk). I loved variety of fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, meats and freshly baked breads. I also had a dinner at the suggested restaurant with locals. Apartment is clean, equipped with all necessary stuff, the bed is very very comfortable. Soundproof is not the best, but it gets quite at 9:30, must be a bedtime for neighbors children. I am more than satisfied with my choice of the vacation rental.

Nino's House

We had a fantastic stay in Rome. Nino is an amazing host. He arranged a driver for us from the airport. He met us when we arrived and gave a thorough tour of the apartment. After that he even took us around the neighborhood to show us some local restaurants, and even how to use the bus and tram system. The Apt, was very clean and even included a small gift bag from Nino. He was always available when we needed him. When it was time to leave he even called us a taxi for the train station. The stay would not have been the same without Nino and his humor & caring. We enjoyed multiple conversations. He loves his Roma, so be forewarned if you are only staying 3 days. "You can't see my city in 3 days"!! Haha. Nino was very willing to share interesting facts about his city. We learned a lot from him. He tried to keep conversations minimal because his daughter says he talks too much to his guests. We enjoyed the conversations so much and could have sat with him for hours. If we are blessed to return back to Rome we will definitely request a stay in Nino's house. Thank you Nino for being such a wonderful man. PS - Jane's Dad also says you look like him. Tony & Jane.

Best of both worlds

If Nino's house were just an alleyway with a sleeping bag, I would still give it a 5 star rating. Why? Because the host truly cares about the comfort and enjoyment of his guests. We were greated by Nino's wonderful daughter who showed us everything about the rental, and then walked us around the neighborhood showing us great restaurants and nearest bus stations. She was truly interested in our comfort while staying at Nino's place. Nino was on vacation, but that didn't stop him from communicating with us to let us know about great restaurants in the area, like BucaVino and Fiori Di Zucca. Nino even made a reservation for us at BucaVino and we were treated like royalty and given a discount for mentioning Nino's name. If it weren't for Nino we would have never found the best Gelato in all of Rome, Gelateria La Romana. That alone is worth a 5 star rating. Nino even arranged transportation for us back to the airport, again, all of this while he's on vacation thousands of miles away. If you decide to stay here I strongly encourage you to take Nino's suggestions to heart because they were all worth while. But, if the owner was someone who didn't care about his guest, but just wanted the money, I would still give his place a 5 star rating. Nino's place is a very warm, clean and comfortable place. With the exception of the ingredients, we had everything we needed to cook ourselves a nice dinner (you can only eat so much pasta). The rental is in a safe location with an elevator, but with only one floor to climb, the stairs were not a problem. The bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows, nice couch with fast wireless made the time at Nino's a relaxing place to be. So you can see, with Nino's place you get the best of both worlds, a great relaxing location and a host who was born and raised in the neighborhood. You can't ask for more. We would definitely go back if we have a chance to come to Rome again. Wanda and Larry

Sadly, we cannot recommend this place.

We felt uncomfortable staying at this house. When we met him upon our arrival, he asked us for our passports so that he can register us with the police department. I told him that I will give him copies, but not our actual passport. He insisted on the original passports. I Googled some info and showed him that I can just give him a copy. I gave him a copy. Then, AFTER I gave him the copy, I happened to mention that I have never experienced that in other countries. He literally called me a liar. And he repeated, more than once, things like "I do not believe you", "I find that hard to believe", etc. This part of the conversation took about 15 minutes. I finally told him that I am not happy that he is calling me a liar and that he got what he wanted. It is not like I did not give him our passports or copies of them. I fully cooperated with him, but told him the truth; namely, that we have never experienced that before. Moving on: He is very talkative, pushy, and difficult to avoid and takes up A LOT of your time. Just one in a series of examples: When he gave us the WiFi password, he insisted on playing a guessing game with us. Really! He asked us to guess the significance of the letters and numbers of the password. This also took up a lot of time. As it turns out, the password has abbreviations of his daughters' names and their birth dates. How are we supposed to know that? He does not give you your space. The description and pictures of the house suggest that you have your own place, but in reality, you enter his house and then through a 2nd door to your place. You are in his house. He waited behind his door until we left our room so that he can talk to us. Kinda creepy. I'm running out of space, so I will just list: 1) He told us he would charge us 100 Euros if we lost our key. Expensive key! 2) His place is NOT a one bedroom; rather, it is a studio with the ceiling cut in half to accommodate the bed upstairs. My wife is 5'4" and she was bumping her head while going upstairs. 3) He insisted we get What's App and not VRBO. 4). IMPORTANT: Shoddy and dangerous appliances and fixtures. Many wires (lights and the iron) are frayed in, like, 4 places for each wire such that bare wire is showing. The light switches on one of the kitchen lights and the bathroom light were broken and unsafe. The stove gas lighter was unsafe. His fix? Put a cup over it to "prevent electric fire" (his words). Shoddy place with sub-par furniture & appliances.

Living in the same building, I can help my guests with any problem.
