Captains Cove is located in the quiet coastal community of Broad Cove in historic Cape Elizabeth, ME. Found on the southeast corner of Cape Elizabeth, the summer sea breeze brings cooling comfort, salty scents and sounds from the ocean daily. The neighborhood is perfect for morning walks to the local rocky Broad Cove beach to watch sunrise and arriving and departing ships, while enjoying a morning cup of coffee. The neighborhood also features a Greenbelt trail which offers easy trail walking / hiking through the woods, with the sounds of birds chirping and woodpeckers working away on the trees. The close proximity to the ocean and the quiet of the neighborhood were the biggest attractions for our expanding family.
Captains Cove features one Master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, one twin and one double bedroom which share a full bathroom on the second floor. There is a roomy eat in kitchen, with a dining room, living room, laundry room and 1/2 bath on the first floor. The living room has a game / puzzle table and large, comfy sectional couch, perfect for reading, listening to music, or taking a restorative vacation nap.
On the ground level there is a comfortable family room, with vintage Ms. PacMan table, couch, game table, large flat screen TV, a Queen bedroom and full bathroom. When not using the family room space for the entire household, it makes for a nice private suite for guests.
Outside there is a large walk out patio with large sectional couch, swivel chairs and table for outdoor living. Plentiful sunshine in the afternoon lends itself to stretching out on the couch with a good book. In the evening there is lighting over the patio to continue your outdoor time after returning from the beach. There is an outdoor propane heater for cooler nights under the lights on the patio.
For the beach enthusiasts, Captains Cove is close to several beaches and state parks. Enjoy biking to Two Lights State Park, Kettle Cove Beach, or Crescent Beach State Park. Kettle Cove Beach is a family favorite for a cooling dip after dinner on a hot summer night, usually followed up with a visit to the Kettle Cove Creamery and Shack for an ice cream. Of course you can totally bypass the swim and go for a bike ride straight for the ice cream if that suits you as well! In addition to Ice Cream the Shack Cafe offers other items such as burgers, fries, coffee and espresso drinks during the day.
A little further away, less than 8 miles are in order of least distance from the house are Higgins Beach, Scarborough Beach State Park, Ferry Beach and Pine Point. For surfing, paddle surfing and kite boarding, Higgins, Scarborough and Pine Point are popular. For relaxing, swimming, sunning, and building sand castles, Kettle Cove, Crescent Beach and Ferry Beach are great!
There are several eating establishments in Cape Elizabeth, ranging from sit down restaurants to take out or eat in style, close by to the neighborhood. The Good Table and Tacos y Tequila are less than a mile away from the house. The Good Table offers Lunch and Dinners and has a delicious Sunday brunch featuring very large and delicious Cinnamon rolls. Tacos y Tequila offers lunch and dinners with a mostly Mexican menu, and a wall of taps featuring several local micro brews, ciders, and wines. Less than 3 miles away are Sea Glass Restaurant at Inn by the Sea with more of a dining experience, and Tostones a Latin American eat in / take out restaurant and bar.
For cycling enthusiasts, Captains Cove is a great launching pad for several road loops around Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, South Portland and Portland, ranging from 2 to 35 mile local loops.

We stayed for almost 6 weeks in Captain’s Cove … escaping hurricane season in Florida. Photos accurate, charming neighborhood, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and Jessie and Mike could not have been more thoughtful and helpful hosts. When we needed to extend our stay, they made that possible—so grateful. Highly recommend this lovely home.

We had a wonderful stay at Mike and Jessie’s property in Cape Elizabeth. It was perfect for our family. The house is spacious and immaculate and really the perfect coastal Maine home. The house is located in a beautiful community. We had the opportunity to take many walks in the neighborhood and down to the beach and also spent a lot of time in the backyard. All the furniture is very comfortable including the beds and there’s lots of hangout spaces. The kitchen was also well stocked. Overall we loved it and would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing time at this location! It is a gorgeous house, top to bottom. Plenty of room and access to two very beautiful beaches. Mike and Jessie are lovely people, very nice and so welcoming. If we needed any help, they were just a text away. We will be back!
P.S. My children would like to note that they loved the Ms. Pacman game!

The Pac-Man table is super fun! Please come back we would love to host you and your family again! All the best Jessie and Mike
We were lucky enough to be Mike and Jessie's first guests at "Captain's Cove", and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The house was just as described, spotless when we arrived, and fit our group of 6 adults comfortably (sleeping separately). The kitchen was well-supplied for cooking, and the outdoor patio was great for grilling and hanging out. The neighborhood in Cape Elizabeth was quiet and beautiful, with some great scenic walks, and beaches a quick drive away (Mike left us a useful map of the area). And downtown Portland is only about a 15 minute drive as well. We had an awesome time and would definitely stay again! Thanks so much!

We are very grateful to have Jared, Alex and their crew as our first guests at Captains Cove! We are so happy that our home was a place for you to make memories with friends. You set the bar high because you left our home in wonderful condition and also so respectful and easy to communicate with. Your crew can come back anytime! Best wishes with the new addition to the family. And we hope to see little ones in your journey to Maine over the coming years. All the Best, Mike and Jessie
We had a wonderful stay at Captain’s Cove! We got in on a pretty rainy day, but were so excited to find the sweetest welcome from Mike and Jessie - local goodies and a note made us all smile for sure. The house was very clean and inviting, great setup for our family of 6 also. The beds and linens were comfortable, and they even had really nice beach towels for our use. We didn’t use the kitchen a whole lot, but there was more than what you could need to cook some amazing meals. We enjoyed a family game/movie night in the basement one night and sat out under the patio lights another night - such a fun and relaxing end to our Maine vacation! And when we were leaving, Jessie was kind enough to meet us to make sure we had a good stay and enjoyed our first trip to Maine.
Overall, Captain’s Cove was just perfect. Close, but not too close to Portland, as well as OOB for a day trip, and also the friendliest, most welcoming hosts we’ve ever had the pleasure to deal with. Thanks, Mike and Jessie, for a great stay!

Hi Jessica, Happy to have hosted you on your first family trip to Maine! Thank you for your very kind words about our home and for taking such good care of it during your stay. Your family did a lot with your time here and that is awesome! We would look forward to hosting you and your family again in Maine. Thank you again for being wonderful guests! All the Best Jessie and Mike.
Family and friends were staying at Old Orchard Beach and we decided to join them last minute. We wanted to have access to quiet ocean beaches and enjoy quiet Maine, while also being able to quickly drive over to OBB and hangout. This house and location was perfect! We woke up early for sunrise meditation on the rocks and then brisk swims in the nearby neighborhood park/beach, and then a quick drive to OBB for afternoon surfing and family time.
Also convenient to Portland where we spent a day exploring and hitting some great foodie spots.
Neighbors were very friendly, roads lightly traveled and very walkable with families.
The house is well cared for with a nice layout for our large family. The kids enjoyed sitting in the hammock and hanging out on the patio. We hit some local farm stands and markets for fresh fruit, veggies and eggs for making some great little brunches. One night we went out to the beach and watched all of the dozens of lighthouses and buoys flashing to ships across the bays and islands.
One of our guests had to go home early for tennis tryouts, and the Portland Jetport is also super close. We were back to the house before she got through security.
The teens kept saying, “when we make it big time, we’re buying a vacation house here, this place is so calm and peaceful.” For now, renting this house on VRBO is a great solution.

Hi Alex and Family! We are so happy you came, visited family and played in the neighborhood. This is a great location for watching water traffic and glad you enjoyed BroadCove and Trudy Point! The Town of Cape Elizabeth is home to many mariners including Mike, who is a ships Captains, who also likes to walk to to the rocks in the early morning and say hello to the Sun. So wonderful that you took to advantage of that beautiful way to start your day in Maine. The water is cold though! No morning dips for us! The outdoor space is a huge hit with our friends and family, so glad that your family enjoyed this space right on the property. Thank you again for being kind and considerate guests at Captains Cove and we would love to have you back anytime. All the Best to your family. Mike and Jessie
