First, the property is fabulous. Two nice-sized bedrooms with additional sleeping options on pull-out couches, a well-stocked kitchen, and lovely re-decorating that came with the recent renovation. Stylish. Three blocks from the thick of things in town.Second, Kate is a great host. She communicated all the relevant information soon after we booked the rental, and she and I were in touch during our stay. Easy to reach, and super-responsive.The one thing I'll note is that the spiral staircase is very narrow. Make sure your suitcases are small/medium sized; any suitcase that's wider than the stairs are is a bear to take up to the bedrooms.

Great Spot - Convenient to Town

We booked Kate’s back barn for a quick Labor Day weekend visit. The place was recently update and very comfortable for our family of 4. The location is fantastic, particularly without a car - a short walk to town, any easy bike ride out to Surfside. Kate was highly responsive to our questions and needs and made the check in/check out process easy to manage. Would definitely consider a future stay!

The location was perfect, in walking distance to the main street. We enjoyed being able to walk into that Main St. area to grab coffee and meals, go shopping, etc. The space was great for our family of 4. We were easily able to park our rental Jeep in a designated spot as well.Kate was a great property contact and we even got to meet her in person. She was very communicative over VRBO messaging and even informed us when the cleaners would be arriving on our departure date, so we had a little more time before we had to exit. That was so helpful since we were waiting for a mid-day ferry time.The one point to clarify, while it's displayed in the pictures, is that narrow, winding staircase is the only way to get up to the 2nd floor of the quaint cottage to access the bedrooms and one of the 2 bathrooms. But we were just fine. Everything was really clean and well cared for. And I have to comment about the bath towels, they were really nice (thick and plush) and much better than towels you get at even many, major hotel brands! We also appreciated being able to use the modest size washer/dryer to do a bit of laundry before we left. I would definitely recommend the Barnackle cottage and am curious about the 2 other units available on the same property they manage.

Great spot.great location. My boys played frisbee and threw the ball outside and it had juts enough. There is only a spiral staircase to the upstairs which is small but adequate. If ur a family taht packs a lot of luggage for needs a big space, I’d look elsewhere but if you’re easy breezy and pack lightly and want a bargain destination in town, don’t hesitate. Renters were super accommodating and lovely especially when we tried to book an extra night during some familial uncertainty and a hurricane!

We had a wonderful stay at the Barnackl in Nantucket and would highly recommend it. The house was spotless, bright, and airy, with charming nautical décor that honored Nantucket’s history. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed, and the bathrooms had thoughtful touches like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and plenty of clean towels. The linens were soft, the bedding cozy, and there were extra blankets and pillows that made us feel right at home. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus.For our group of three, the layout worked perfectly. We kept a couple of larger suitcases near the entry/dining area rather than carrying them up the spiral staircase, and there was plenty of room. Outside, the private seating area surrounded by greenery was a lovely place to enjoy the sunshine. The house was quiet, private, and felt like a true retreat.The location couldn’t have been better — just a quick walk to town, with more than one route to get there. It struck the perfect balance between convenience and privacy.Our host was wonderful — responsive, kind, and professional, always answering questions quickly and making us feel cared for throughout our stay.Overall, this home exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable, thoughtfully equipped, and perfectly located. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Nantucket.
