Renovated 2024, Blocks From the Inner Harbor/ Downtown - King, Twins, Pull out.
Union Street is a one-way street heading into Main Street, Nantucket. Walkable from the ferries and easy to find from the Airport. Two blocks to the bus station and the wharves. You can roll out of bed, drink a cuppa outside on the patio, do some yoga on the grass, and then catch a bus to go anywhere on the island. Stay for a few nights or months, and you will want to be back.
The Barn is located at the end of the shelled driveway. To access the kitchen door, walk to the grass side of The Barn. The electronic pad works well, alleviating the need for keys.
In 2024, a renovation was completed, upgrading almost every space in the Barn—the new flooring to hold space for the new furniture. My favorite is the full-size sofa that pulls out with a blow-up mattress. Or, a marble top round dining table with four armchairs is in the corner.
The clean look comes from the newly skimmed and painted walls and ceiling holding the new lights. The HVAC cools and heats well. The internet is strong for work and play. The television is mounted to link your home apps and streaming platform.
The brand-new kitchen is beautiful. White marble counters flow over the counters with a white farmer's sink and the four-burner stove. The U-shaped kitchen gives enough room for a few workstations. The full fridge is tucked in the corner. White cabinets above and below highlight the gold streaks through the marble. A combination of convection and microwave makes everything easy.
There are five other windows around the great room, and the window over the sink lets in a lot of light. For privacy, the Roman shades come down.
The open floor plan makes this a great room. The sofa, oversized swivel chair, and two reading chairs create a lovely conversational arrangement around a coffee table. Reading lights are strategically placed.
The circular dining table is in the corner behind the couch, looking past the roses to the white-shelled driveway. A full-sized hutch holds games and books, with space for your items. The black iron circular staircase has wooden slats that look like a piece of art and are functional.
The staircase leads to a front parlor with two low seats that convert into futon-type beds. An antique cabinet holds more books and games. The king bedroom has a dresser, side tables, lamps, and a nice closet. The room has an HVAC system.
The twin bedroom has two twins, a bedside table, and a small hutch for personal items. The closet has enough space. Each bedroom has air conditioning and heat. The king and twin bedrooms have lovely light and beautiful art, including the linens.
It is a five-minute walk to Main Street and all of Nantucket's downtown, two blocks to the bus station and the harbor. No one has ever complained.

Great spot.great location. My boys played frisbee and threw the ball outside and it had juts enough. There is only a spiral staircase to the upstairs which is small but adequate. If ur a family taht packs a lot of luggage for needs a big space, I’d look elsewhere but if you’re easy breezy and pack lightly and want a bargain destination in town, don’t hesitate. Renters were super accommodating and lovely especially when we tried to book an extra night during some familial uncertainty and a hurricane!
We booked Kate’s back barn for a quick Labor Day weekend visit. The place was recently update and very comfortable for our family of 4. The location is fantastic, particularly without a car - a short walk to town, any easy bike ride out to Surfside. Kate was highly responsive to our questions and needs and made the check in/check out process easy to manage. Would definitely consider a future stay!
We had a wonderful stay at the Barnackl in Nantucket and would highly recommend it. The house was spotless, bright, and airy, with charming nautical décor that honored Nantucket’s history. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed, and the bathrooms had thoughtful touches like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and plenty of clean towels. The linens were soft, the bedding cozy, and there were extra blankets and pillows that made us feel right at home. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus. For our group of three, the layout worked perfectly. We kept a couple of larger suitcases near the entry/dining area rather than carrying them up the spiral staircase, and there was plenty of room. Outside, the private seating area surrounded by greenery was a lovely place to enjoy the sunshine. The house was quiet, private, and felt like a true retreat. The location couldn’t have been better — just a quick walk to town, with more than one route to get there. It struck the perfect balance between convenience and privacy. Our host was wonderful — responsive, kind, and professional, always answering questions quickly and making us feel cared for throughout our stay.Overall, this home exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable, thoughtfully equipped, and perfectly located. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Nantucket.
Hello - I have a great life! I live in Maine with my family and travel to see my parents and sister while I care for their properties. Old Naples, FL, and Nantucket hold several properties they choose to live in themselves or rent out.
Why they chose this property
My mother and sister found beautiful properties two blocks from the beaches and four from the nicest downtown areas. They both have the eye and great taste, filling their spots with art and new equipment for home cooking. Nantucket has three rentals at one downtown address, and in Florida, five rentals are nestled on a corner lot that allows privacy and space. Nantucket has a house divided into the front and the middle. Both have separate roofs but are attached by a hallway with closets and a utility room. A boat barn is the third rental, just a gem for its open space and two bathrooms. Nantucket also has my mother's sweet rose-covered cottage in Sconset. Each spot has parking on the property.
What makes this property unique
All the properties have one-of-a-kind art and excellent equipment, are all newly updated, are within walking distance to the beach, and have two of the most fabulous downtowns the states offer.
