Why they chose this property
How It All Came to Be - Starry Nights by the owners, Manny and Maria
The first time we laid eyes on East Tennessee was in the winter of 1990. The moment we crossed into the embrace of Appalachia, we knew—we were home. The mountains rose like sentinels against the sky, their misty peaks whispering stories of old. Streams wove through valleys kissed by the morning sun, and meadows stretched wide, holding secrets of seasons past. It was love at first sight.
Our son was just two years old, and our daughter would join us three years later - and we made a promise—one as steady as the Smoky Mountain ridges—to return every year.
Years passed like leaves in the wind, and by 2005, fate, faith and family love led us to a haven tucked deep within the woods. Nearly 3,500 feet above sea level, we stood in awe as the world unfolded before us. On clear days, we could see all the way to Kentucky and Virginia. And when night fell, the lights of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg twinkled like fireflies in the distance. We didn’t hesitate. This was it. This was ours. Never mind that it was a thousand miles from where we’d come—half the joy was in the journey.
Since then, time has done what time does. Our children grew, earned their degrees in business and architecture, and now, a new generation—our grandchildren—walk these same paths, laugh beneath these same trees, and breathe in the same mountain air that first captured our hearts two decades ago.
We don’t just love our retreat in the sky because the stars here shine a little brighter, though they do. Or because the nights are filled with the distant calls of the wild, though they are. We love it because it is home. A home where the mighty black bear roams, where the shy bobcat watches from the shadows, where the birds sing in an endless symphony.

What makes this property unique
A place where Ober Mountain waits just down the road, where amazing southern hospitality awaits for us 15 minutes down the mountain, where the four seasons paint the land in hues of gold, white and crimson, and where the soul finds serenity, tranquility, rest and adventure.
It’s where our children once howled at the moon and where, now, three generations stand together and say—Y'all come back and see us again soon!
Are the mountains calling you? Then come. Come sit a while on the balcony, enjoy your favorite tea or cup of coffee, watch the mist roll in at dawn, and let Appalachia weave its spell on you, just as it did on us.
Don't be a stranger, visit and then come back soon!
If you are looking for some mountain tranquility and peacefulness after the active hustle and bustle in town you will find it here in very plush, comfy surroundings. The drive up Ski Mountain is so gorgeous and picturesque there is always something new to see and it is often some mountain wildlife!
