Thank you so much for considering The Monkey Barrel for your home while visiting Nantucket. We call this house “The Monkey Barrel” because with all of the fun, laughter, and antics that take place while we’re at the beach…this house sometimes happily feels like a barrel of monkeys! Comments on why our rates fluctuate so much during the year, as well as a full itemization of fees, are included at the end of this description.
This is a renovated home with every comfort in mind including zoned air conditioning and heating throughout.
Main level: Open kitchen with breakfast bar and living room with new TV and stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, living room furniture, and hardwood floors. Two bedrooms include a master with a king bed, TV, and comfy reading area, and the second offers two full beds. Shared full bath with cast iron tub and custom tile.
2nd Floor: Very large wet bar with granite countertops and living room area with a new TV, wine refrigerator, bar refrigerator, and living room furniture. Two bedrooms each contain a queen bed. Shared full bath with cast iron tub and custom tile.
Lower Level: Kitchenette with granite countertops. Two bedrooms, each with two twin beds. Full laundry room and exit to back patio. Shared full bath with tub and shower.
Outdoor mahogany patio with built-in Viking commercial-grade propane grill, outdoor shower, eight-person hot tub, and seating for 20+ people. Backyard fence ideal for kids and dogs! Comfortable house for entertaining a large group.
Ample parking in the house’s driveway for 3+ cars. A quick 2-mile bike ride or walk to Surfside Beach and <1-mile walk to downtown Nantucket on the bike trail across the street from the house! The Wave shuttle bus stop is also half a block away. This is a convenient location close to town and beaches, restaurants, and shopping.
Nantucket offers year-round attractions, from family-friendly activities or a romantic getaway, something athletic, historical, or cultural, top-notch dining, or a lobster bake on the beach…all within close proximity.
An important comment on rates:
Nantucket's summer season is very short and there are many special weekends during the spring and fall months; as a result, we have a very short window for seasonal rentals. Our rates reflect the popularity of certain weekends and our refundable security deposit (listed as a "property fee") also reflects the standard "wear and tear" on the house during these times (security deposit is $700 for any stay over three nights, except Figawi weekend, when it's $2500). Here's a list of the 2023 dates where you will see fluctuations on the calendar:
