This is a unique place to stay on a quiet island. It was very clean and came fully stocked with towels, blankets, fans, etc. Good communication with host. The only thing we didn't expect was no TV service but they have lots of DVDS. We would go for a quiet weekend away again!
Property was a ways from town and had to take a ferry to get there, but my fault for not reading description carefully. Cabin was exceptionally clean and very well stocked towels, bedding, cooking accessories. Owner responded in a timely manner.

Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
I got the itinerary. The homeowner canceled it on us and never got a email that they canceled it so now we’re struggling to find a place to stay for the night.
We asked the host if there was any smells in the cabin when we booked our stay because my wife has a number of health issues that strong synthetic smells can make worse. Such as scented laundry soap and cleaning supplies. We were assured by the host that there was no smell and she asked the cleaning crew to not use any cleaning supplies with and odor. When we arrived at the cabin we walked in to an overwhelming smell of laundry soap with sent so much that my wife was only able to be in the cabin for about 5 minutes and was wearing an n95 mask. We tried to reach out to the host and did not receive a response for 15 hours. We ended up sleeping in our vehicle and canceling our second day. I wish the host and all host would be honest when people ask questions this would have saved us a terrible experience and would have allowed someone else to enjoy the cabin.

Thank you for your feedback. Prior to your stay, we discussed your sensitivity to fragrances and cleaning products. To accommodate your request, we did not make the beds because you planned to bring your own bedding, and our cleaner was instructed to wipe surfaces with water only rather than use standard cleaning products.
Additionally, the cabin had been winterized and vacant since October, and your reservation was the first stay of the season. No laundry had been done and no routine cleaning products had been used in the cabin during that period, which makes the reported odors difficult for us to verify.
We take guest concerns seriously and initially considered refunding the cleaning fee as a gesture of goodwill. However, after checkout, we found that the cabin had been fully used during the stay, including use of the shower and towels, and the property required substantial cleaning afterward. For that reason, we did not feel a refund was warranted.
We respect that sensitivities can vary from person to person, but we believe we made a reasonable effort to accommodate the requests communicated to us before arrival. We remain committed to providing a clean and comfortable experience for all guests.
Super cute cottage on Sugar Island. This was my first time on the island. We didn’t have much time to explore, but getting to the cottage was easy. Perfect place for my daughter and I for a weekend of hockey in The Soo. (There for sure would’ve been room for the whole family to stay though.) We will be keeping this place in mind for more hockey trips that fall when it’s open!
Check-in easy. Communication great. WiFi not good. Didn’t realize second bathroom was an outdoor detached bathroom but fully functional. We did stay when the weather was very hot and humid and the fans helped but it was hot. We knew this before we booked it but thought weather would be cooler. Kitchen area very nice. ferry easy access and island easy to get around.
