About the host
Hosted by Sam Stuckart

We are a family that lives in NH but spend as much time as possible on Peaks Island. We enjoy long walks along Seashore Ave., biking around the island's roads and trails, kayaking and fishing from kayaks, and relaxing in the afternoons and evenings on the lawn and on the rock formations in front of the house right by the water. We also like to walk the local coves to look for sea glass and that is how we came up with the name of the cottage. We invite family and friends come to visit.
Why they chose this property
Our cottage is in Spar Cove which is on the quiet side of the island that faces the open ocean. We see the most beautiful sunrises on many mornings, I've included a lot of sunrise pictures but they don't do justice to the light and colors. The ocean looks different every day, but always beautiful.
Initially we thought we would go into Portland more often, but have come to realize we love being where we are most of the time. It is convenient that if you do want to go into Portland for dining and entertainment it is only a 15 minute ferry ride away.
There are some great things about Spar Cove such as the raft in the cove for swimming, the large bedrock area in front of the cottage which we use for picnics and hanging out at night, and the sound of the waves which we can even hear in the cottage at night with the windows open.

What makes this property unique
We are right on the water (no road between the house and the ocean), and the views, the sound of the waves, the lawn, and the access to the "picnic rocks" right in front of the house are all signature features of the property. The yard is so private and large enough for lawn games and family fun. We even have a little mini-beach between our seawall and the ocean.
