We absolutely loved our stay at The Pacifica Inn-Hapu’u Room. Check in was smooth, our host was extremely responsive, and the bed was so comfortable we hope to visit again soon!
Great location, only minutes from the entrance to the National Park.

This stay was pretty nice!! Great location. The original room I booked was unavailable so we ended up in one room for a night and then moved to the Volcano room (highly recommend!) for the second two. Which this was a nice upgrade, there were some communication issues with the host day of check in and confusion about moving rooms after. Other than that, the amenities are accurately described and proximity to the national park is awesome!
The path to the room is beautiful. Looking out of the big windows in the room seeing all of the lush trees and plants was cool. The smell in the room is musty. It felt a little like camping with the windows open (and humid). You can hear all the night sounds, frogs etc. that will lull you to sleep. It is basic, no frills but for one night it was fine for us.

Parking is tight. There was only three vehicles when we arrived but if there was four it would be tight especially if you have a bigger vehicle. We stayed in one of the rooms behind. It is simple and enough if you are staying one or two days short term. Very close to Volcano national park
Nice location. However street address sign not easily seen. Having to almost crawl under a semi fallen tree to reach room not a good thing. Normal shower amenities almost empty. But suppling coffe was a great touch and fern forest views were great.
We had an amazing time at the cabin. We only stayed 1 night but we wish we would’ve stayed additional nights. Jennifer is soo kind and so accommodating. Easily the most accommodating hosts we stayed with. The views from this cabin are STUNNING. It’s such a beautiful cabin. Highly recommend staying here if you visit Volcano.
Beautiful VRBO and very clean. I would recommend arriving in the daylight hours due to the driveway being difficult to see at night. I loved that it felt like I was sleeping in the rainforest.
The cabin was wonderful and cozy! It was very private and feel like you have the island to yourself. It was close to Volcano national National park which is something we were looking for when finding a place to stay. The host was so kind and communicative.
Hapuu room is a magical and very cozy spot with an intimate view into giant ferns and forest. The other guests in adjacent cabinswere very charming. We were all checking in at dark in heavy rain — note, the driveway is dark driveway and coming from Hilo and Jade Street, it is technically the second last on the right from the Ruby Street end of Second Street (the last driveway is a yard) — we were bumbling around but eventually took a dive and walked down into the dark and it was the right place — a beautiful spot.
Our stay was double booked by host. We were at the door ready to open and an older couple were already inside. We were then told by the host that the older couple could be upgraded to a larger place but that would have taken time for them to move because all of their clothes were hung.
The cabin was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. As soon as you open the door, you see the great corner windows with a view of the rain forest. Your dining table for two awaits! The bed was comfortable and the electric heater kept the damp, cool edge off. The small kitchenette had everything we needed. The bathroom was spacious and clean. You feel like you are off in your own little corner of the rain forest. Jennifer was extremely helpful with local information and was always quick to respond to my inquiries. Excellent communication! We would gladly return! An excellent value and close to Volcanoes National Park.
Stunningly beautiful property grounds. Comfortable, clean, simple bedroom and furnishings. The bathroom fixtures could use upgrades. I couldn't get hot water from the shower or sink, but that may have been in some way due to the recent massive storm that hit the entire state, causing lots of flood and wind damage on the island, idk. I never mentioned it to the owner because I was too busy enjoying myself to bother, and wasn't actually at the property for much more than sleeping and breakfast. Owner was very responsive to messages, and sent some friendly recommendations for nearby dining and fun activities in the nearby Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (unfortunately closed due to downed power lines, trees, and mud buildup on the roads). Would definitely stay again, especially if visiting the volcanoes are on my agenda.
Great cozy spot feels like you’re sleeping in a treehouse in the Forrest. Host was so helpful in communicating arrival instructions. Was very easy to wake up and be at the VNP trails early!
