About this property
Pet-Friendly Cathedral-Ceiling Pine Interior Home 4 Miles From Town, 1 From ANP
The sweet little house is a beautiful 1600 square foot 2 bedroom, 1.75 bath cathedral-ceiling, pine interior house, located in Hulls Cove. It is located on the main road to Bar Harbor, but set well back from the road on a huge meadow, so although there is no fenced yard, it is perfect for friendly and well-behaved pups!
The master bedroom has a king bed, and is up a spiral staircase in a loft, with a 1.75 bath. The second bedroom is downstairs located off the kitchen/living room/dining room, and has a queen bed. The full bath is also downstairs. The house has an open floor plan, with a fully-stocked kitchen (and of course, a lobster pot and lobster-eating essentials!), washer/dryer, TV (DVR and HBO), BBQ grill, wrap around deck, and outdoor seating on the deck and the lawn. There is a hammock to lounge in while you enjoy the Maine afternoon breeze. During late-July and August, there are blueberries in the meadow that you can eat off the bush, and small wild strawberries, if you look for them! There is also a garage apartment rented by my dear friends who are not affiliated with the management of the rental, but are wonderful, welcoming people.
If you want to wander around Acadia, there is a park entrance with carriage trails a mile away, and if you prefer to catch a boat ride or a whale watch, town and the pier are ~4 miles away. There is only one sand beach on the Island, and it's about 15 minutes away, but there is a beautiful pebble beach about 1/2 mile away, which is a spectacular place to watch the sun or the moon rise.
I hope I get the opportunity to share my home with you!

This house and its proximity to Bar Harbor was excellent. Far enough away, yet close enough. Also very close to two excellent restaurants without having to enter into town. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen was large and very well stocked. The view from the living area was lovely. We saw a few wild turkeys, some deer and numerous birds. Our communication with Sasha was excellent. Another bonus was having a washer/dryer available to use. This house is perfect for two couples with each having their own bathroom. If we were to visit again, we would certainly consider Sasha's house.
The property was wonderful. 2 full bathrooms and a private bedroom for my daughter. My son and I shared the king size bed in the loft. Short drive to Bar Harbor and Trenton, where we took our scenic flight. Parking was great. Zero complaints! About an hour from Bangor Intl Airport.
Our stay in this beautiful house in Bar Harbor was wonderful. The home is exactly as pictured--spacious, comfortable, filled with every amenity imaginable. It is nestled into a space away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. Nevertheless, we were able to reach stores, pharmacies, the harbor, and Acadia Park with ease. A wrap-around porch was very enjoyable in the morning and evening, and we saw deer in the meadow behind the house. Sasha was very responsive to our questions and needs and welcomed us warmly. We left with regret; we'd booked this trip and stay months ago , and we weren't disappointed!
We enjoyed our stay in this light-filled vacation home! The location is perfect, close to both Bar Harbor downtown and Acadia National Park. Despite being on a major road, the house is a good distance from the road and quiet. The view of the meadow in the back is lovely. We loved having coffee on the back porch. We passed the driveway a few times before learning what to look for. From Bar Harbor, it is on the left just past the sign "Hummingbird Springs." There are tenants above the garage, but we never saw nor heard them. There were delicious snacks awaiting our arrival which we so appreciated! Know that you need to provide your own soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.We were requested to strip the beds and start the laundry before leaving. We didn't mind and did so; I am mentioning because I know that some renters do. The beds and bedding were comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. We would be happy to stay here again if we were in the area.
We had a wonderful stay. The house was so conveniently located near the Acadia entrance and had everything we needed. We would recommend to others and would be happy to stay there again!
This was a perfect place to visit the park with a family! Beautiful Windows overlooking the meadow behind the house made for great mornings and warm evenings. The house was equipped with everything to make our trip enjoyable.
Absolutely wonderful stay. The location is perfect. The space is so comfortable. We were traveling with a one year old and there was even a pack and play and booster seat avaliable. Would highly recommend and hope to stay again one day.
The house was in a great location, close to trails and restaurants but away from the business of downtown bar harbor. The house had everything we needed and plenty of room to spread out. We loved watching deer and birds in the meadow. Highly recommend and would stay here again!
Four seniors who love traveling together, had a great trip to Acadia NP. Great location, well equipped, very comfortable home just minutes outside the park.
My husband and I really loved our stay here. It is such a cute home and it had everything we needed to make our time there restful and enjoyable. We loved that it is just minutes from an entrance to Acadia National Park where we spent most of our time. We would definitely stay here again!
If you are going to Acadia NP it is a great location. Bar Harbor is easy distance away. House sits off the road a little so minimal traffic noise. The deck is a great place to relax.

About the host
Hosted by Sasha Ertl
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and moved to Maine in 2003 with my good friend and (who is a Bar Harbor local) to pursue a career as a marine biologist. I fell in love with the house the moment I laid eyes on it! Since buying the house, I have worked primarily in Alaska, and lived in Colorado and now Washington, but travel back to stay in my little home as often as possible! I am a dog person (mostly Australian cattle dogs), so the house is very dog friendly! In 2013, we began fostering Australian cattle dogs through the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association. We fostered 16 dogs, including a mom and her 9 3.5-week-old pups! If you notice the chewed trim in the guest room, you can thank those sweet puppies for that.
I now have two young kids and love bringing them to Maine to experience the magic of Acadia and MDI. I love my little home on the island, and hope you will too!
Why they chose this property
My friend Matt grew up in Bar Harbor, and quickly showed me everything there is to love about the area. I lived there for two years before deciding to settle there. The bustle of the town during the summer, followed by the quietude of the winter make it a perfect little haven.
I lucked out with the location of my home. It is located close to town, the ocean, and Acadia National Park, and less than a mile from Pirate's Cove Mini Golf, but are also off the main road enough that it is a quiet and peaceful location. The back yard is a huge meadow full of wildflowers and blueberries, sunrises and sunsets, lightening bugs, birds (including some resident barred owls that tend to roost on our trees and call throughout the summer, hummingbirds, and lots of songbirds), and deer, and a perfect shaded area to relax in the hammock or BBQ on the deck.
What makes this property unique
I bought my house because I walked in and instantly fell in love. It's a very easy place to fall in love with. The floor plan and the beautiful pine interior, plus the vast meadow in the back, complete with blueberries, wildflowers, painted sunsets and starry skies made the place a little piece of heaven.
