Two bathrooms and a beautiful sun room onto a spacious roof terrace with unique views of the castle, mountains and sea, which is within walking distance. The house is located in the old town of Almunecar. It is up high, near San Miguel castle up a steep hill so anyone with walking difficulties should be aware of this. It is a perfect location to explore the area, experience Spanish life and see the delights of Andalusia. Wifi throughout the house. Almunecar is a wonderful place to base yourself, it offers numerous water sports, hiking, cycling, paragliding. There are many walks close by taking you to breathtaking places. With over 19 kilometres of local coastline you will be at a loss to choose which one of the 25 beaches to choose from. The old town is Medieval in origin with steep winding streets, full of shops bars and lovely places to eat which lead up to the Moorish castle where the house is located. It is hard to get a drink without a free accompanying tapas. Culturally rich and historically fascinating there are many things to discover .The Costa Tropical is named after its tropical climate so the fruit and vegetables are grown extensively in the area, avocados mangoes and the famous Cherimoyas and papayas are common place. Granada offers skiing and Motril has a lovely golf course. The drive is an easy one or you can take a bus from the bus station at little expense. It takes about an hour. We have tourist information in the house so that you can plan what you might like to do when you stay. There is something for everyone in this beautiful part of Andalusia. There are many fiestas throughout the year to enjoy. Semana Santa at Easter is an incredible spectacle and takes place close to the house. The fireworks in August are the biggest in Europe and can be watched from the terrace or on the beach. I will let you know of any festivals that are happening when you book. Hand, bath and beach towels are provided for your stay so that you can have extra space in your luggage. We also have a house book with local tourist information and maps of the area to help you find your way around. My property manager Sara Meek will arrange your arrival details and meet you at the house to give you the keys and make sure you are happy with all the facilities so that your stay is a memorable experience. Sara is also available by email or phone to answer any queries and come to the house when needed as soon as possible. We want to make your stay as easy and relaxing as possible.

The house is right next to the castle situated in the old town and only 5mins walk to the beach, great location for restaurants too. Sara was great at communicating and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Almunecar
Very enjoyable stay and Sara the property manager is a pleasure to deal with. Be aware that parking near the house can be tricky but if you ignore the no parking signs and get creative you can usually find a spot not too far away.

Amazing Village Home with Breathtaking Rooftop Terrace
We had an amazing time in Alumnecar. Casa Maria was just amazing, as soon as we stepped in we felt at home and a part of a small Spanish village. Sara was amazing at communicating with directions, tips for parking and a personal greeting to show us around the Apartment. The space was very well equiped. The bedrooms where all separate but my children's favorite was the rooftop perch. Amazing cushioned room with views to die for. Which led to the very comfortable terrace with views of the Sea, mountains, and a 800 year old castle. Was truly breathtaking. On the roof there was a great wood/carbon grill that we used to cook up some amazing local seafood. Sunsets here are not to be missed...the most spectacular view in all of Almunecar. The location is at the top of the town so one must take this into considerations. But the few tough steps up the hill are quickly forgotten once inside the home. 5 minutes walk from the beach and 7-10 minutes walk from the amazing town market where we shopped for fresh fruit, meat and fish everyday.. (except Sunday)...would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The beds where very comfortable and the two washrooms a big plus for larger families or groups.

Hello Paul, I’m glad you enjoyed the house and location. I know you told me you went on many excursions as there are lots of interesting things to see and do here.
We tell everyone on the website that the house is up a steep hill by the castle ( hence the lovely views) and that parking is limited especially in the height of the summer, so there is never any surprises for our guests. We are always transparent.

Erster Aufenthalt in Spanien
Lieben Dank an Sara und Louis, die sich sehr herzlich um uns kümmerten!Das Haus liegt sehr zentral und ruhig. Der Zustand des Hauses lässt zu wünschen übrig, besonders im Winter, wenn für das gesamte EG nur ein elt. Heizkörper zur Verfügung steht - bei Einfachfenstern, die teils fingerbreite Schlitze haben. Die Dusche im EG war nicht beheizbar und schimmelte. Kamin durfte nicht benutzt werden und Parken vor dem Haus war an keinem der 9 Tage möglich. Der Charme des Hauses sollte durch Austauschen der alten Kissen und Polster und mehr Pflege der Einrichtung besser erhalten werden.Für uns ein fragwürdiges Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.Kathrin und Jens

You didn’t mention any of this during your stay … such an unfair review.
The house is warm in the winter we have never had any complaints about the house being warm. There are air conditioning units upstairs for heating a wood burning fire downstairs and the radiator is more than adequate to heat the downstairs you can get the house nice and warm.
The linen is pure cotton from ‘La Redoute’ with warm duvets.
The water is always hot so I have to completely disagree with your comments about the downstairs bathroom.
It is mentioned on the website that parking is difficult so you should not have been surprised and I also told you this before your arrival. May I suggest for your next holiday you read the information given on the website properly.
The house is in the old town by the castle. There is parking outside but at busy times such as Christmas you cannot guarantee a space and there is a lot of parking down the hill.
The charm of this house is that it has antique furniture I’m sorry it wasn’t to your taste.

Highly recommend this house!
Beautiful townhouse in a perfect location near the castle in the old part of Almuñecar, with amazing views of the beach, mountains and the castle. Only a short walk to the beach and shops. The house itself was great and spacious, not forgetting the lovely terrace.
We were welcomed on arrival by Sara, who was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Hospitality was second to none with great tips and insights, and Sara was on hand during our visit to answer any questions.
If you're driving, make sure to hire a small car for more convenience, as the streets are very narrow. Saying that we had a large car and always managed to park near the house even with a lot of parking restrictions due to jazz festival.
The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Everything was supplied for a comfortable beach visits - towels, couple beach chairs and an umbrella. Bedding was clean and fresh.

Better than the pictures!
My family stayed in Casa Maria for an extended stay this past year. Casa Maria is the perfect place to stay to experience Almuñécar and to get a feel for Andalucía. The roof deck offers spectacular views of the water and mountains. We basically lived up there! In the winter we loved huddling around the fireplace. The house is very well cared for and clean! It is equipped with everything you might need and decorated with care. We were able to experience every season and holiday and I can say with confidence that this house is a perfect rental. The location it the heart of the San Miquel neighborhood makes it a great spot for exploring the whole town. Its location off the beach allows for relaxing and quiet evenings. Parking on the street is an option and parking along the road leading to the castle is always available. The property manager is every responsive and is always there to help fix any problems that might arise. We loved Casa Maria!

Charming and amazing apartment
Charming and amazing apartment on top of the old town of Almuñecar. Standing on terrace on the roof making the dinner on the grill with the sunset over the mountains in the background were fantastic. Few minutes walk to the center of the town and to the beaches were also a positive thing. Can definitely be recommended.

Why they chose this property
I have been traveling to this area since I was a kid. My father has spent many years vacationing and living in the region. He recently renovated the entire house and designed the interior into a moorish, spanish style home. This old quarters is a beautiful village that is still untouched with spanish charm. Located right on the Mediterranean, the house is in the perfect location to enjoy all that Almuñecar has to offer.
