- Hot tub for unwinding under the stars

- King bed in an open, single-level layout

- Full bathroom & kitchen for easy meals

- Patio & BBQ grill for outdoor time

- Wifi, TV & Bluetooth sound system

The Space:

Mountain air settles in as dusk falls, and the sky above the wooded hillside begins to glow with stars. Steam rises gently from the hot tub while the quiet of the forest wraps around you, broken only by the sounds of nature. Inside the dome, warmth, soft light, and expansive views create a calm retreat from the outside world.

The space

This glamping dome is designed for a comfortable, immersive stay in the mountains, blending thoughtful furnishings with the feeling of being fully surrounded by nature. The open interior centers around a king bed, creating a cozy place to rest after a day outdoors. Climate control keeps the space comfortable during evenings, and natural light filters in during the day, framing the surrounding landscape.

A full indoor bathroom allows you to refresh without leaving the warmth of the dome, making stays easy and relaxed. The layout is single level, with no stairs, and the private entrance offers simple access on arrival.

Kitchen and dining

The dome includes a kitchen and dining area where you can prepare your own meals during your stay. Whether it’s a quiet breakfast before heading out or a warm dinner enjoyed indoors as temperatures drop, the space is well suited for simple, satisfying meals without needing to leave the property.

Entertainment and connectivity

Evenings can be spent unwinding with the TV or enjoying music on the Bluetooth sound system. Wifi is available for streaming or staying connected, though the remote mountain setting means speeds may vary. It’s a good place to disconnect when you want to, and reconnect when needed.

Outdoor living

Step outside onto the patio or balcony to take in mountain views and crisp air. The outdoor space includes seating and a BBQ grill, making it easy to enjoy time outside. The hot tub offers a relaxing way to end the day, especially under clear, star-filled skies.

Setting and surroundings

The dome sits on a wooded mountainside within a large private retreat known as Cooper Mountain. Two other domes are nearby, one about 60 feet away and another farther off, and you may occasionally see other guests during your stay. Each dome maintains its own outdoor spaces, allowing for a sense of privacy while still being part of a shared natural setting. The property is adjacent to a private nature preserve with trails and areas to explore.

Good to know

As with most nature-based stays, the dome is not sealed like a traditional home, and occasional insects may enter, especially during seasonal changes. Outdoor areas are regularly cleaned, though leaves, pollen, or natural debris may still be present. These details are part of staying immersed in a quiet, scenic mountain environment.

This dome is well suited for travelers seeking a peaceful escape, cozy evenings, and a close connection to the surrounding landscape without sacrificing comfort.

Longer Stays

For stays of 14 nights or longer, guests will be asked to e-sign a rental agreement prior to arrival. This agreement helps us comply with local requirements while protecting the property, and will be sent in advance for review.

Note

Stargazer is part of a large private retreat (Cooper Mountain), with two other domes nearby. One dome is about 60 feet away, and the other is over 120 feet away. While you may see other guests at these properties during your stay, Stargazer is still quite secluded — with your own private hot tub, deck, and fire pit. BTW, if you’re interested in booking all three domes, please let us know!

Our dome is tucked into the mountains, offering a truly unique and peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Unlike a traditional home, domes aren’t sealed in the same way, so you may occasionally spot a bug or two inside. While this isn’t typically an issue for most of the year, you might see more small insects—like crickets—during early spring and summer.

Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!

Wi-Fi is included, though due to the remote location it can occasionally be slower or spotty. We recommend downloading any important content in advance so you can fully relax and enjoy your stay.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Stargazer in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
