This was a perfect location for visiting Asheville. Close to RAD, downtown, Biltmore and NC Arboretum. It was quirky with lovely vintage touches. Everything was well-kept. Quiet location.
The accommodations were just as described and it was immaculate! Meka is an excellent communicator and although we didn't need anything during our stay, I felt comfortable asking! The mountain views were great and we enjoyed the wild turkey that visited! It was a perfect stay!
Amazing hosts. Meka and David were a pleasure to deal with. The space is wonderful and in a perfect location. A lovely spot. Highly recommended. Kevin K
The property is everything that is described and more. Well thought out design and great amenities. Easy check-in and hosts are great communicators. Love the off street parking. Would definitely stay here again
Great little downstairs apartment that had everything we needed for a weekend getaway! Loved the decor and it was super cozy on a cold weekend. For two people, it was perfect.

It was a pleasure having you. :-)
David and Meka were amazing hosts that made us feel very welcome. The place was very cozy and loved the design of the stone walls and sleeping pod. Also very convenient to the major spots in Asheville. Would definitely recommend.
If you're looking for a convenient, charming and stress-free place to stay in Asheville, I highly recommend the Gray Scott. We were 3 women looking for a location with easy access to the sites we planned on visiting. This location checked all the boxes. Clean, cute and well appointed. Owners David and Meka were so easy to work with. Only had a couple of hiccups (nothing big at all!) and the host was there right away to assist. The kitchen and living space provided plenty of room, as did the 1 bedroom and the sleeping pod (so cute, we traded off). The 1 bathroom is small but we knew that going in and made it work - lovely shower by the way. We had access to laundry facilities and the back covered patio afforded for lovely morning coffees. We even had a couple of wildlife visitors! Highly recommend!
It was an absolute, pleasant, quaint, nostalgic trip convenient to downtown. Also convenient to the Biltmore. I would highly recommend if it is a quick getaway with you and your significant other I would strongly recommend and look forward to coming back.!

Comfortable bed, excellent kitchen, inviting sitting area, excellent bathroom, enjoyable outdoor space, insightful advice from hosts on the area sights and restaurants. Quiet home base with quick access to the sites of then Asheville area.
We had a great stay! Hosts were, friendly and accommodating making everything easy and comfortable including a late check-in due to delayed flight. Conveniently located close to Asheville attractions and Warren Wilson College where we were visiting our daughter. Highly recommend!

We had the loveliest stay at Greyscott! We were lucky enough to catch snow while we were there, and it was the perfect spot to be snowed in for the day! The beds were comfy, we had everything we needed, enjoyed the games, and they even provided delicious coffee complete with half & half. Loved the stonework, natural wood countertops, and eclectic art work. Even better than expected and we will definitely stay again! Hosts were exceptionally kind! :)
This cozy cottage was fully equipped with everything one could need. Clean surroundings and beautifully decorated. Michael was a great host. I would definitely come and stay there again at my bext visit.

I almost don’t want others to find out what a gem this is! The hosts were so responsive and made sure we had what we needed. The thought put into the small touches and notes around the space made all the difference in comparison to other rentals I’ve been in.It’s a perfect place for a couple, or even those with kiddos as the sleeping nook was a HUGE hit with my 14 year old niece. The location is central to all this Asheville. This will be the 1st place I’d look at booking the next time we travel to Asheville.

About the host
Hosted by Meka & David
Meka has been in Asheville since 2004. He is a full-time massage therapist, working from home and at the Asheville Salt Cave downtown. Since 1995, he has also made his livelihood consulting and teaching Natural Building systems such as Adobe, Cob, and Straw-bale, locally and around the world...with a specialty in wood fired ovens and Rumford fireplaces. David is a Sales Manager for a privately owned Sales Group in the Pet Industry. We both enjoy puttering around the property (Meka was a Permaculture landscape gardener for 7 years; David loves to tend the gardens and maintain the home and grounds. GrayScott is our home and we hope you will love it too.
Why they chose this property
On our first walk through of this 1942 house, we entered through the basement (what is now the Garden Suite), and were immediately enchanted by the 15" thick stone foundation walls and fireplace. We were looking for a fixer upper with good bones and discovered good bones AND teeth! We did all the demolition and were hands on in the renovation process from start to finish. The house has all new electrical, plumbing, and central air system.
What makes this property unique
The apartment is a one of a kind labor of love. Meka spent 5 months doing the renovation, adding unique features and special touches to the space. We strive to make sure it is clean and inviting for all who stay with us...even providing fresh ground local coffee and half & half, shower and hand soaps, and tissues/toilet paper. As avid outdoor people, we hand built the stone wall running the length of the house and are continually creating new planting beds for expanding the garden. Our goal is to create a lush food forest for visitors to enjoy. So far, the edible gardens have fruit & nut trees, berries, native and medicinal herbs, shitake mushroom logs, and seasonal vegetables.
