BEAUTIFUL place!Well stocked with everything you need to stay. Bears do stay in the area so following the instructions is important. We would absolutely stay here again!
We absolutely loved our stay here and did not want to leave! The view was beautiful, the area was calm and quiet and we will definitely be booking here again in the future!

Hands down the best Vrbo I’ve ever stayed in! Absolutely gorgeous views and deck. Has everything you need, and things you didn’t even know you needed! Loved the house!

Wow! Thank you so much, Larkin! We really appreciate the great review.
Great view of the mountains. Lots of bear sightings (nothing concerning). Very accessible. Having driven many mountain roads I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started driving up, but getting in and out of the neighborhood was easy to maneuver, albeit winding. Watch for cyclists and bear crossings. Private driveway is easy to get in and out, this was one of my biggest concerns as I looked around the homes while driving up the first night. The neighborhood was dark, peaceful and private.Almost everywhere we went was within 15 minutes making it easy to stop back between activities. Not sure I could ask for a better experience.

Thank you, Catherine! We are so glad you and your pets enjoyed the stay and caught some epic sunsets!
Wonderful outdoor space, spectacular views, on site parking, little touches like coffee/tea/shower supplies/games/toys. This is a “hidden” location, feels like you are on your own slice of wilderness, yet you are just minutes to everything Asheville. The owners are quick to respond. They have an organized, easy to follow notebook with some local recommendations. This does appear to be a split property, however we didn’t see any other guests.

Thank you for the review and the great photos! To clarify, the home is separated front and back, however the front is only for storage. It is not a separate living unit. Guests are always the only ones staying in the home!
What a wonderful home! The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, beds are comfortable and the views are fantastic, especially at sunrise and sunset. Hosts are very responsive to any questions about the area and with information you will need for your stay. We will definitely return in the future!

I had debated about leaving a review I think when you’re traveling and want to visit somewhere incredible like Asheville there are many places to choose from so you spend time researching. The host was very responsive but did not understand the fundamental pieces I was including in our reason for leaving, there looks like so there was a big disconnect in the overall standards for the market and opportunity to really create that within their space. The house is incredibly dated down to the fixtures, original bathroom toilet from the early 70’s. It has a « this will do » « garage sale » to every element in the space. Switch plates are yellowed, caulking gone, appliances antique, mismatch overload, along with portion of the house not accessible mystery. The view is beautiful- however deck is dangerous, furniture inside and out to the windows to the sidewalks to the utensils to the grill beed replacing due to age and need for deep cleaning. The garage doors look like they survived Helene and the driveway and side walks are coated in mud, spider webs, ants, no one cleans or sweeps or attends to anything beyond surface cleaning.I will say the caretakers were open to feedback if they take action on updating it could be a great place. For college students, hikers or those who maybe don’t travel often may be totally fine with sure… this will work. But my elderly family arriving for a 70th birthday week felt like they were cat fished.

When Natalie checked in and started sending me messages about her concerns with our space, I immediately offered to send our housekeeper out to fix the issues that night. She said that the next day would be best while they were out of the house, so I coordinated the cleaners to come then. Their group ended up checking out early and ending their stay the next morning and we had the home thoroughly cleaned that day, While any cleanliness issues are on us, and we immediately addressed them, other claims in this review are inaccurate. Our deck is ground level and has no safety issues, the home is a mid century home and we state that the bathroom is retro in the listing. The photos also show what the bathroom looks like. Our appliances are not “antique”. We have modern day stainless steel kitchen appliances. In regards to the exterior, we have had a lot of rain this summer and we do our best to maintain the exterior, but daily thunderstorms can make it challenging to keep it “perfect”. We do hold ourselves to high standards as hosts so all of the cleaning issues mentioned were taken care of immediately. In response to the comment about Helene, yes, we did survive Hurricane Helene. That’s a sore spot for our community as many people lost their homes entirely. Our home is safe, clean, and guests love it, We want future guests to know that we take cleaning seriously, and that our home is a cozy homey space as the pictures show. Everyone loves their stay here and we hope future guests find it as enjoyable as all of our other guests have.
Wonderful, mountainside property, perfectly situated to take advantage of those gorgeous west-facing sunsets. Clean & comfortable inside, spacious & homey. The kitchen & bathroom could use some updating/modernization but they were otherwise perfectly functional. The living room had a treasure trove of games, toys & books to enjoy & the kitchen was well equipped to prepare and serve meals - including a collection of various standard kitchen spices. While we brought & used our own ground coffee, we were delighted to see that the coffee station set-up in the kitchen thoughtfully provided both regular & decaf drip coffees, the coffee filters, & sugar/powder creamer. We had our 10-year-old German Shepherd with us, & she, too, was happy & comfortable in this "home away from home" environment. We live in a very urban environment so the peace & quiet here was well appreciated by us all.Location was just north of town, right by the Blue Ridge Parkway, and easy to find, although it took us flatlanders a couple of days to get used to navigating the twisty mountain roads, lol. Going out to eat was easy, staying in to cook was easy & DoorDash had no problems finding us, either.Communication with our host was excellent, with near-instantaneous responses to our few queries. Best of all, the young black bear that unexpectedly ambled past us while we sat in the car in the driveway. So, yes....heed the bear notices!

Thank you so much for this review, Jennifer! We appreciate the feedback and are so glad you all enjoyed the visit, including your German Shepard!
Absolutely loved our stay here. It looks like the unit is split but there was no one else present when we stayed. They have a layed back checkout process and the sun room is stunning! Be mindful while booking that there is one bathroom and the tub is slick so if youre traveling with someone who is a fall risk i would pack accordingly.

Thank you for the review, Amber! We are addressing the slippery tub and adding some anti-slip strips so that won't be a concern for future guests. Thanks again for staying at the Sunset Vista, and we hope to have you back sometime!
