This place is amazing. If you enjoy a smaller beach house this is the one to come too. The patio is pretty big. The inside is cute. It is tiny but we didn’t care. We knew what we were renting and it worked perfectly for us. It’s right on the beach and I got to enjoy the amazing morning sunrise.

Great location, quaint house

House is cute. The location is great. The host was super easy to reach and communication was great. There was an odor that would come and go, I am not sure if it was the house itself, or if it was from the plumbers that were working on something 2 doors down, but the host had maintenance out first thing the next morning to check it out (keep in mind, i was texting the host at 11pm, so the next morning was 100% above and beyond). I am sure the host would fix anything they could if there is a problem. There was a pretty severe storm with high winds and this little house is super sturdy considering it is on stilts and right on the ocean. To the host, i would say thankyou for a lovely stay.

Lovely Location!

We absolutely loved the location of this cottage. Breathtaking views, short walk to the beach and away from all the traffic. The cottage itself was the perfect size for our family. We spent most of our time outside, so mostly used it for sleeping. The only issue we ran into was the A/C window units didn’t cool very well and were extremely noisy. If you like a bath sheet size towel, bring your own, as the ones provided are small. The kitchen had all we needed for preparing our meals. The kitchen, bathroom and beds were clean, but the place could use a deep clean of the windows, floorboards, trim and fresh paint. We would definitely stay again, as the location was perfect,

Good Location, Adequate house

The beachfront location was wonderful. Beautiful sunrises from the deck. The house itself was okay for us, but definitely nothing outstanding about it. The kitchen was extremely tiny and not very functional. There were new small appliances, but there was only one plug and you would have to unplug something and switch places with another appliance to use it. Practically no counter space. The central air no longer works and while the air conditioning units keep the small space cool, they were quite loud. The house was clean and the beds were okay. Don't think we will be repeat customers.

Horrible experience

When I arrived at the property, I tried to access the property via the touch keypad on the entry door and it did not work. I also tried the lockbox downstairs and it did not work / open either. I called the guest contact regarding the issue. I was told that I should try to pry open the lockbox. I responded that I could not do that. Then the local contact said that somebody would come by to fix the issue. I clearly explained that I could not wait with my family and kids stuck there and did not feel safe doing so. I asked him to cancel the reservation and provide me refund but he kept saying that sending somebody over was the best he could do. I never saw the local contact or anybody on the property during my stay. I had my family and kids with me and left the property for safety issue without being able to access. It was getting dark outside and it did not feel safe to stay there at all. Also we were stuck without any access to amenities like restrooms etc. This has been a horrible experience for me and my family. We have never experienced such unprofessional arrangement and behavior for VRBO properties. The property should have been readily accessible. This incident caused huge inconvenience causing a lot of mental stress during the entire experience. I would strongly discourage going with this property and expect that I get my full refund immediately.

We walked into the property and it was 90 degrees in the house. None of the air conditioners were on. We were able to turn on one of the window units but someone came to turn on the other one. The house had a very strong urine smell and we were told by the owners representative who came to turn on the air conditioner that it was because the house was close to the ocean. The representative also was spraying disinfectant after he turned on the air. He could smell the foul odor. I lived in a coastal town my first 17 years and ocean does not make a house smell like a litter box. Also the pictures did not match the listing and the front door looked like it had seen better days. There were loose boards on the deck. I like renting a beach house so my 80 year old mother can watch the ocean from the deck. The stairs and deck were not safe for her to walk on. We asked the owner and Evolve for a refund and they refused. We booked another property and did not stay one night in the Bristow house. We suspect the house may have black mold because all of our allergies were blooming after just the little time we were there. I was extremely happy with the house we stayed in last year and thought listings on VRBO could be trusted. You might want to take this one down off your site. Now I am out over $4000 for my weeks vacation on accommodations since we had to book somewhere else. I am very unhappy!

Location, location, location!

This sweet little beach house could not have been more perfect for our getaway!Our priority is always 1) patio w/view and 2) proximity to beach, so 100% there. The view from the covered porch was idyllic, with daisies blooming just past the yard, and beach so close. The beach seems to be private also, as there was public access to the east of us with trucks and cars parked on sand (about 3-4 houses down, with posts separating), but not in front of us. Very quiet on our stretch..also, the house is not directly on the main hwy like so many, and there is a quick route at west end of block to behind a small grocery store (1/2 a block), so you don't have to get on main hwy to fetch a missing grocery item! We felt very safe and loved this for last-minute purchases.The house itself, I will describe it as a fun little hippie house, which we loved. If you require fancy digs, it may not be your thing. Everything worked, ac in each room, stove, tv, coffee maker etc..beds were comfortable. Pictures are accurate. Drive into town for tours is not far at all. The West End Marina is also very close, and such a hidden surprise! The food was amazing. We had a blast, and hope to return!

We stayed at this house 2 years ago & booked it again for 9/5-9/8 we enjoyed it. Asked to check in early they told us the earliest was 2:30 which was fine we would have liked to check in at 2 since we got there earlier than expected but it all worked out. There were a few things broken on the deck & fence but i emailed the host & let them know. The only thing i would suggest is if you have guests checking in is to turn the ACs on at least an hour or 2 before guest arrive because the thermostat read it was 95 in the house & it took it awhile to cool down. Other than that we spent 90% of the time on the beach & it was absolutely perfect.

The location was excellent. The views were great. The neighborhood was quiet. The house is needing some minor repairs. It did have air conditioning, but the window units struggled to keep up with the heat and humidity of the day. Overall for a short stay, it was good. If we would have stayed longer, it wouldn't have been adequate.

Perfect little beach cottage

Check in was a little disappointing because house had not been cleaned. Seems as though the cleaners were not told there would be a need to have it cleaned that day. The homeowner was exceptionally helpful & it was very beneficial to be able to talk directly with him. The Evolve associate was too far removed from the situation & would've had to talk with the owner to get anything done. Not sure what the benefit of Evolve was/is.The house itself was absolutely perfect for our stay, loved the half covered porch & the outdoor shower. Kitchen was very well equipped. The only issue was that the red floor lamp in the living room is missing a knob to turn it off/on---have to use pliers to get hold of the tiny metal protrusion....

Perfect beach cottage!

This was absolutely the perfect little beach house! Right on the beach, very cute interior, porch was half covered so you could sit out in the middle of the day, outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off before going inside….Owner was fabulous in helping w/ a missed cleaning before we checked in. Cannot wait to stay here again when we want a quiet, peaceful stay at the beach!

Great location and views but...

Truly love the location of this house. Unbeatable. Beautiful. Good distance from Galveston and on a nice beach that is basically private. The listing says washer and dryer as amenities but apparently they don't work? But was also told by the property manager that they aren't in the listing when they are mentioned several times and then he stopped responding to me. People came on the property and left stuff in the storage area downstairs which just feels like a safety issue. Heads up would be nice that someone would be on the property that's not us. The ac units went out on the last night, emailed host, no response. They came back on in the middle of the night. Backyard does have biting red ants so be aware of that as well. Could use a coat of paint on the on inside and some upgrades but otherwise it's a great, convenient little place to stay. I would stay here again for the location alone.

The house has great location, on a short dead-end street, right on the beach with easy access. A great grocery store and diner within walking distance. 15-20 minutes from Galveston proper.

Great Little Beachfront Property Exactly As Described

Nice little beach house good for a small family. Reminds me of the lake cabin my aunt and uncle had years ago. Not as large as the neighboring properties but it's facing the same ocean. Very pleasant overall.

Quite getaway

Very nice and clean house. Easy access to the beach. Love the view from the covered deck. Wish the grill would have been there and the washer and dryer would help with wet clothes but overall it was well worth the price and will rent again.
