This Wonderful Waterfront Retreat is on The Elk River, just minutes from picturesque Chesapeake City. The 'River House' is a secluded sanctuary that offers inviting spacious living areas and two cozy bungalows. The Main House includes a great room with spectacular views of the Elk River and inter-coastal waterway, while two bungalows both offer more bedrooms and sun porches to enjoy the lovely breezes, views of the river and breathtaking sunsets. Enjoy the peacefulness of fishing from the dock or a beautiful day out on the magnificent river. Book Now, Serenity Awaits!

This is the perfect location for the multi family reunions, gatherings, and getaways. The ample grounds are ideal for wiffle ball, badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, and picnics. An intimate beach provides swimming, boating, and jet skiing, or just basking in the sun and napping in the hammock. There is excellent rock fish (striper) fishing or crabbing off the end of the 100 foot dock. In the evening, the kids can roast marshmallows in the fire pit and then pitch a tent and sleep under the stars. If you're looking for the perfect place for a guys weekend, a girls retreat, or a getaway for the whole family, you'll love the 'River House' !

Great property...sizeable and everyone had enough space to retreat to their own rooms. Good communication via phone from the host, but it would have been nice to have emailed instructions to refer back to during and at the end of our stay so we would know a wifi password and what was expected when we left the property...

Wonderful location for a quiet extended-family stay. Lots of room for everyone across our four generations. We like to cook, and the huge dining table was perfect for being together for meals. Excellent seafood nearby. We brought our kayaks and went up & downriver, and bicycles for rides alongside the canal. Golfed at two nearby courses & had a great time overall! Owner (Dennis) was very responsive and friendly. Gorgeous view and lovely sunsets. Thanks!

Great Family Vacation

The property was wonderful! The three homes were extremely clean and well furnished. The owners, Dennis and Carol, checked in with us and were so kind. There is a sandy beach that the young ones could dig in the sand and a dock that we used for fishing. This was by far the best vacation rental we have ever had.

Beautiful houses

Dennis and Carol are excellent hosts. Very easy to communicate. The property is beautiful! The photos don’t due it justice. Main house is large , jukebox is a great addition. Bedrooms are spacious. Second house is also well equipped and roomy. The bungalow had more room than I anticipated. The views are spectacular! Added bonus, large ships pass in front of the property. Private beach with easy access. Fishing was great. Awesome sunsets and nice yard and fire pit. We had 12people in our group and had plenty of room. You will not be disappointed in this property. I would definitely love to make a return visit!

Wonderful Family Vacation Spot

Dennis’s property was everything we needed. We had plenty of room for our 14 people. The separate houses were nice to give the infants and their parents a place to retreat to. The older kids loved the great room with the juke box where they could look out for boats. The house was well stocked which made it perfect for preparing our Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks Dennis!!

Exceptional Thanksgiving Gathering

We had an unforgettable stay at this property! The house and two bungalows exceeded all expectations. The entertainment/living room is massive—one of the largest I’ve ever seen—and offers incredible views of the river from almost every angle. Watching the sunrise and sunset through the large windows was absolutely breathtaking. The kitchen was impressively well-stocked, making meal prep a breeze. There are two dining areas: one table that seats ten and another that seats six, offering flexibility for both large gatherings and intimate meals. The master bedroom was a standout, with an incredibly comfortable mattress that felt like sleeping on a cloud. The other two bedrooms, with king and queen beds, were equally spacious and cozy. The bungalows were a nice touch, each offering a comfortable living area, a small kitchen (which we didn’t need), and a bathroom. The outdoor space is just as impressive, featuring a dock, a bench swing, a horseshoe pit, a basketball court, and scenic walking areas. It’s the perfect spot for relaxation and outdoor fun. The hosts were fantastic—always available, knowledgeable, and accommodating, making the entire experience seamless. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with top-notch amenities!

Beautiful and relaxing vacation

Absolutely beautiful area with private beach and excellent floating and swimming fun. Awesome sunsets and plenty of room for outside games to be played . Lots of room inside and out for our big family of 15. Had great family dinners with the ease of the kitchen set up and dining areas. We were greeted by Dennis and Carol who answered our many questions 😊about the property. They are a very nice couple and checked in with a phone call mid week. This was a great quiet relaxing vacation with lots of family time. The fire-pit was excellent and fully stocked with all the wood we needed and we used it just about every night. Thank you Dennis and Carol for sharing your beautiful property with us.

Great family place!

Could not have had a better time, nonstop fun on the dock, on the beach, and shooting hoops. Perfect layout for evening games, music and sunset watching. Dennis and Carol were great, look forward to using them again in the future.

Family Gathering for out 50th anniversary

The houses and grounds are spectacular. There was room for all 14 of us to be together in the dining room or the living area and also room for people to gather in smaller groups - D&D in the Man Cave with appropriate decor, games in the den, Triple Solitaire on the kitchen table etc. We played and ate and fished and paddled. The house is well equipped with everything we needed from extra refrigeration, laundry facilities and kitchen equipment to fishing rods, and sports equipment. Everyone was happy and enjoyed being together. It was a memorable vacation and we are grateful to our wonderful hosts who made it all possible!

Fabulous Vacation

We were super impressed by the size of all the bedrooms in the main house and the huge gathering places like the dining room, living room and bar room! The views are amazing, the beach and dock were favorite hangout places. The boat lift was excellent and allowed us to enjoy several trips per day with ease! The firepit is also wonderful and seats 12! The bungalow and man cave both with full kitchens allowed out group to spread out and really enjoy all the spaces. Thank you so much for a fantastic trip to celebrate the boys’ 25th!
