The perfect relaxing stay on the creek. Such a cute quaint place. Agree with another reviewer that the stairs to the bedroom are steep and the tub/shower you have to step up and in. If you don’t have any mobility issues you are fine. Such a perfect location with the most beautiful surroundings.
Is a very peaceful location the house is quite charming. The only downfall is they make it seem like you are very isolated. You are you are not there are houses within a stone throw away. The creek is perfect for children and pets and it has a nice size yard. Another downfall, which is the one neighbor has a golden retriever that likes to keep paying a visit.
We had a great weekend at the cabin. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek all weekend. It was quiet and peaceful. We visited the nearby nature center and hiked around the stream. Definitely would like to come back and stay again.
We stayed for 5 days. We found plenty to do and see. The cabin is small and quaint. Quite a lovely place to stay. All sleep accommodations are in one room in the upstairs loft, though I suppose someone could sleep on the downstairs couch. This was fine for us as we are a married couple traveling on our own. For anyone wanting to travel with others there would be limited privacy. There are stairs down to the cabin, stairs to get into the cabin, steep stairs up to the loft. We are in our sixties and my husband has bilateral hip replacement and we were able to handle the stairs just fine----but if stairs are challenging for you....this is good to know. Also, to take a shower you must step into a tallish tub. For most folks, none of this is a problem, but for some it's good to know. The host was very good about communicating the check in and check out process---both of which are very easy. I have never had an easier check out process. Basically, all you need to do is pack up your stuff and take it with you when you go. The area around the cabin is scenic and beautiful. This is a great place to stay.
Lovely place to unwind. Home is close to trails, and only a short 15 minute drive to Ligonier. Would recommend and will consider booking again next time we are in the area!
The outside scenery was amazing, pictures can't do the stream and woods justice! My daughter and I loved spending our mornings in the outside area with our coffe and milky!
Lovely stay. Couldn’t ask for a better backyard. Even on a cold, rainy weekend, the fireplace, music, and view of the water from the sofa made for a cozy, warm stay. You could also hear the water rushing from inside making for a perfect sleep. Super relaxing stay. Thx!
Hi, we’re Adam & Naomi. We’re a husband and wife team passionate about travel, design and leading a healthy lifestyle with our family. We are excited to provide recommendations to all our favorite local spots so you can best experience the neighborhood we love!
Why they chose this property
While the cabin is mostly immersed in nature it is actually located on the side of a small neighborhood referred to as Powder Mill Village. Although there are no neighbors on 3 sides of the cabin there are a few neighbors on the opposite side of Powder Mill Road. The main attraction in the immediate area is the Powdermill Nature Reserve and its Nature Center. But only a short drive away is Linn Run State Park and the historic town of Ligonier. There are also multiple Ski Resorts in the area including Seven Springs, Laurel Mountain, and Hidden Valley.
What makes this property unique
The property is surrounded by nature, including the nature reserve which means over 2,200 acres of preserved wildlife. While on the property we have seen everything from squirrels, deer, birds, mice, snakes and bears. The animals are happy to leave you alone if you leave them alone, but open food can attract them. We recommend not leaving any unoccupied food outside, we also provide sealed storage containers for any food that is not stored within the refrigerator.
The creek can provide hours of fun for children and adults alike, but it can also be dangerous without precaution. Young children should never be left unattended. The rocks in and around the creek can be very slippery and there are also ledges and dropoffs, as well as some swimming holes that can be up to 4 feet deep. Periods of heavy rain or snow melt can cause high waters, strong currents and flooding, please take extreme caution before entering the creek during any of these conditions and at all times enjoy the creek at your own risk.
