A wonderful respite.

Everything in Ms. Kathy's listing is an accurate reflection of this quiet cottage. It was quiet, peaceful, and sitting on the back porch overlooking the water, we saw a heron and other little creatures moving about. It was a wonderful respite.

Peaceful cottage stay in an amazing location!

We had such an incredible weekend… woke up to the sound of the river and watched a bird fly in and out of its nest on the porch while we drank coffee. Saw live music at Hamptons Barbeque and had some amazing food and drinks, did 2 beautiful hikes in Linville Gorge (only a 10 min drive away) and walked through the vineyards at Linville Falls winery (5 mins away). Kathy was super helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with the perfect blend of nature, food and quiet time!

Adorable river cottage

We spent our New Years at this cute one room cottage on the river. It was small but for just the two of us it was cozy. It had everything we needed with a full kitchen, living area and full size wood burning fire place. It has a nice front and back porch with the back porch looking over the river. We look forward to trying it out in the warmer weather. The owner was very friendly and easy to work with.

Relax to sounds of the River!

After getting the correct lockbox code our stay was peaceful and relaxing! Cottage was small but cozy and spotless! The kitchen was better stocked than my own at home! Ate our meals on the back porch listening to the sound of the river. This cabin def has the best water view. We enjoyed Hike to Linville Falls and the Linville Winery was impressive with live music 3-6pm (they close at 6). Would def recommend and stay again!

Great place on the river!

The property was in the perfect spot. Pictures were exact. We thought it was the better property as far as where it was on the river. We love to hear the river rushing over the rocks. We had a place to walk down to the water as well. We loved the huge, covered back deck. Nights were quiet. Couldn't hear anyone else. stocked pantry was a huge plus if anything is forgotten. We would definitely stay there again.

Magical

We were facing a sad and lonely Corona Christmas without family this year and feel so fortunate to have snagged a last-minute reservation with Kathy. Not only were we treated to the perfect cozy cottage on a gorgeous river-front setting but nature cooperated by giving us a white Christmas! We thoroughly enjoyed the real-wood fireplace and sounds of the river flowing outside the back door. Kathy was the most gracious and accommodating host ever and her cottage is very well appointed. I am a super-host of my own vacation rental and after staying with Kathy, I need to step-up my game!

Just Doesn't Get Any Better

We were looking for a place to unwind and relax on our wedding anniversary and also spend some time away, just us, before our first child arrives in a few months. This cottage fulfilled everything we wanted, and more. The location - excellent. The area - gorgeous. The cottage itself - adorable, charming, cozy, clean. It literally has everything you need so once you arrive, you don't wish you had brought x or y. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The porches are wonderful. The fireplace is great - we used it every night we were there! Kathy is simply amazing and beyond wonderful for opening up her cottage to people who need to just get away and relax. She takes care of everything - from making sure the cottage is spotless to snacks left for renters to enjoy to the decor enforcing that it's okay to relax, be yourself and count yourself blessed. My husband and I left there feeling refreshed and ready to take on life! We had such a lovely time that we'll be back to stay again. He and I just can't say enough great things about this little cottage. Do yourself a favor and just book it - you won't find something better. We promise.

Peaceful and lovely retreat from the daily grind.

Cottage #14 was perfect. It was a beautiful, curvy drive to this little group of cottages. And I was able to bring my Labrador with me. We enjoyed rocking on the front and back covered porches and the river was right outside the back door. Screened doors allowed me to have the breeze blow through the room and hear the water gurgle over the rocks in the river. All I brought besides personal items, was food to eat and books to read. Towels, linens, firewood, paper products, kitchen cookware and serving ware were all provided. Sadie Mae and I took nice walks around the property daily, and there are huge rocks below the cottage in the water where Sadie and I went and sat and she even took a quick swim in the water. I can just imagine what fun she would have here in the summertime. Kathy, the owner, was in town this weekend staying in her cottage next door and she is a delight. So easy to talk with and enthusiastic about the things to do in the area. My daughter and her boyfriend came up Saturday and joined me for lunch at the cottage and we played some games before heading out for a hike at a location Kathy recommended to us. It was lovely and not too difficult for this non-exercising person to handle. When we got home, we all read for a bit and then, since the dog was worn out from our hike, we decided to let her sleep and the three of us drove to a restaurant called the Peddlin' Pig where we had some fantastic ribs and brisket. The weather this weekend was gorgeous. I came up here with a mind that was a bit tired and restless about things in my life but I was able to relax, pray, and just be with my own thoughts. And being in this beautiful area reminded me of God's glory and His many blessings. I will definitely be back as soon as my calendar allows. Thank you Kathy for sharing your lovely cottage with me!!

Cute cottage close to small mountain towns

It was very easy getting to this cottage. Loved the location and sound of the river while sitting on the back porch. Had some difficulty getting the key as the code for the lockbox was incorrect. Texted and called the number listed in the description but got an automated message saying the number was not in service. Thought we might have to find a hotel room! Luckily found a different number to call and got ahold of the owner. She told me the correct code and I was able to retrieve the key. She said she had been having trouble updating the listing information and had been in touch with VRBO about it. She was very prompt and helpful. The inside of the cottage was very quaint and decorated in a farmhouse fashion. My daughter counted 92 chickens (not live!) in the house! It was the perfect size for just two people. Unfortunately I did find old coffee grounds in the filter in the machine, so I opted not to use it at all. It would also be very convenient to have a small trash can in the bathroom; the only one was located under the kitchen sink. I also did see quite a few ants in the bathroom, and a couple on the kitchen counter. Overall though, nothing that bothered me too much to deter me from staying again. I would say sitting on the back porch and listening to the river was the most relaxing part. :)
