Mtn. Chalet With A Tranquil Setting - Close To Everything!
I fell in love with the Smoky Mountains since the first time I set eyes on them. I came down to Gatlinburg for some R&R and next thing you know we bought a chalet to eventually retire in. I fixed it to my liking and now family, friends and YOU are able to enjoy relaxing and a great adventure…hence the name “Secondhand Lions” (a favorite movie of mine). Conveniently located just a few short minute’s to downtown Gatlinburg or to the top of Ski Mountain (Ober Gatlinburg), quiet walkways and, of course, the Great Smoky Mountain park entrance where the adventure really begins.
“Secondhand Lions” …Tranquil setting with all the comforts of home! The great room is decorated in Native American art. The bedrooms are equipped with a pair of Jacuzzi Hydro Message Tubs for that deep relaxation after a long day of hiking or shopping- whichever you prefer.
Surrounded by trees and wildlife make this a very relaxing and comfortable stay. ( Warning: we have bears frequent our deck and seem to be able to open unlocked car doors). Please take a photo of your stay and send me if you encounter a bear on the property. We will display it on our refrigerator.
Special weekly rates and off-season rates…call or email to find out. Enjoy in season Owners Club facilities (choice of 3 on the mountain).
Thank you for choosing our “great mountain getaway”!

The chalet was perfect for our family and our furbaby! Very clean and lots of great amenities. This is our second stay with Dave and we will definitely be back!
Dave was a great host. The house is beautiful and very close to Gatlinburg. When we were there the house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were there to celebrate Thanksgiving and cooking our turkey dinner was no problem in the well supplied kitchen. I hope we can return someday.
We love staying with Dave at his beautiful chalet! He is an excellent host, and the location is perfect...close to the park, Gatlinburg, and the bypass. We'll be back next year!!
Everything was as described. Loved the house. The hot tub, the two jacuzzi tubs. Decorated for Christmas. The Kureg upstairs made my day!! House smells amazing. And I really enjoyed the cedar wood throughout the house as well!!
This place was exactly as described. So clean and very cozy. The driveway was steep but will not prevent us from staying here again. Loved that it was pet friendly. Would highly recommend this chalet.
Great stay with the family. It was close to the mountain for skiing and the town for fun. Driveway was steep and would scrape the bottom on the minivan. Just take it real slow. Unexpected hot tub outside. Thought it was just the jacuzzi tub inside. The temp was 99, but wouldn’t get warmer then that. Great mountain getaway. Bunch of dvds. But the dvd player was not plugged in. Owner had an issue with other renters who unplugged stuff and stated they hired someone to fix it. Requested not to touch or unplug anything. Recommend getting another power strip so the dvd player could be used or having the handyman come back out to complete the job. Thanks
Wonderful chalet! Super close to downtown (light 10) but felt miles away and secluded. All amenities needed for a little getaway. Will definitely stay here again.
Loved it so much we will be back. Everything you need we stayed all week it was easy to get to both towns very quite loved it. the host was great and very friendly. We will be back
Beautiful property, loved the pools.Wish there would have been an area for my puppy to feel comfortable however she did learn fast to use the driveway. The home was everything we needed and more. Beds were comfortably house was roomy and so nice to be able to space out and watch tv in different areas of home.Porch was nice to set on and enjoy the evening.
Very clean, everything as described, easy check in and great communication!

Driveway and parking is difficult very steep hard to get into, downstairs shower little water pressure couch not very comfortable limited seating for more than 4 jacuzzi was nice pretty view outside from porch jacuzzi tubs in each room is nice if you like that there was a problem with ants and spiders as well.
we stayed here for a weekend away, brought the teens and pupp. we all enjoyed the house! we even got to see bears from the hot tub!! was a neat experience!!
Would book this cabin in a heartbeat again... Conveniently located to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, and comfortably slept our family of 5. Modern appliances allowed us to cook meals in the condo easily, and the DVD selection was excellent.
Very nice! Would definitely recommend, nice and cozy! Had a bit of trouble getting up the drive it is a steep one but we got the hang of it!

About the host
Hosted by Dave Lyons
Vered and I are two souls that love the outdoors. We climb mountains and hike all over the nation and internationally. We have climbed Mt. Rainier, Mt. Washington and Mesada in Israel. We're always looking for an adventure!
Why they chose this property
We were in Gatlinburg just passively looking at properties. We came across the one here at 991 Stans Road and fell in love with the potential. We refurbished it but still have big plans...for instance a waterfall with hot tub on the edge near the big windows. We want this to be our oasis because we love the area...it's like living a vacation!
What makes this property unique
'Secondhand Lions' is uniquely positioned. It is close to just about everything...not far up the mountain....just right! It's cozy but very spacious...very relaxing while viewing nature out of all those windows.
