About this property

Le Alesia : Classic French Apartment in Historic Montparnasse Area

This classic French apartment is nestled at the south of the very historical area named Montparnasse, where aspiring international writers such as Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and James Joyce converged, looking to find inspiration in the Parisian setting.

It also hosted some of the greatest artists like Picasso, Chagall and Gauguin.
In the neighborhood's zenith, cafés like Le Dôme, La Closerie des Lilas, La Coupole - all of which are still in business - were a lifeline to the struggling artists and writers who populated Montparnasse.

Le Alesia is located in the Alesia area of the always stimulating 14th arrondissement, between Blvd St Jacques, Parc Montsouris and the Jardin du Luxembourg in the Latin Quarter.
The neighborhood is oh so Parisian, with tree lined streets, the local bakery (and amazing restaurant) just across the street, restaurants on every corner, local markets, cafes, etc.

The apartment is 2 floors up (no elevator), an historic building with only 1 apartment per floor.
The space and light is amazing, at almost 700 square feet, and with 8 windows!
The living room is spacious, the convertible sofa becomes a small double.
The kitchen is opened planned and fully equipped.
The bedroom is cozy and looks over a smaller side street, and is also equipped with an exterior roller-shutter to block noise and light, so very conducive to a deep sleep.
The bathroom is very large, equipped with a modern, walk-in shower, toilet, sink and vanity area, and heated towel rack.

The apartment has been recently, completely renovated, and has all the modern amenities, like high-speed WiFi, cable TV, Free Long-Distance phone calls, recessed lighting, but without losing its original charm -- beautiful parquet floors and classic ceiling moldings.
You'll feel artistically and intellectually inspired during your time in this bright, spacious apartment, or while strolling the local markets, shops and cafes!

I stayed for 8 nights. This property had everything we wanted and needed. It was in a very Paisian part of town - 14th. All locals, no tourists. Access to Metro 4, Bus 68, 69 and RER B that took us easily where we wanted to go. The host provided excellent neighborhood information. Three amazing boulangers within 2 blocks. Highly recommend!!

Noisy Street, Lovely Area

The bed is very comfortable, but the inability to close off the noise at night made deep sleep difficult. There is an unpleasant odor from the little sofa in the salon. The area has a boulangerie and local eateries are nice. The arrangement of the kitchen is not user-friendly, though everything works well enough. Nice shower. Close to Metro. Two flights up. Safe building. Easy communication with owner/management.

Response from VrboOwner on 1 June 2025
We really appreciate the guest's feedback. However, we are a bit confused. As she mentioned, we are dedicated to our communications with guests, before, during and after their stay. We solicited her feedback during her visit, and her responses were only positive, no mention of an odor. We would have immediately managed the problem, if given the chance. No odor was detected once we had access to the apartment, but we laundered the slip covers and pillow cases as a precaution. The bedroom is actually located in the back of the apartment, off the main street, and can be closed off, limiting street noise. The fully equipped kitchen is a real plus, with 2 windows, a dining table, plenty of cupboards, cook top, microwave, full dishwasher, microwave, clothes washer, etc., rare in Paris. Thank you, Ann, for staying with us!

The apartment was clean and fully equipped and the kitchen had everything you need from utensils and pots and pans, and the owner provide us with towels, hand soap and cleaning detergents, it’s a nice and safe neighbourhood and very convenient location to the metros, bus stops and grocery shopping, apparel shopping and patisseries, but it was far from the city Center attractions, as you have to take the metro like 20-25min to reach your attraction destination. Also, the apartment was on the 2nd floor and to us, the stairs were too steep to handle. While in June, we experienced a very hot weather and with no AC, thanks to the owner who left us a couple of portable fans that were handy to cool off.In general, the apartment could take some updates, but all in all, we had a pleasant stay!!
