About this property
Mountain Air Cabin near Franklin, Cashiers and Highlands, North Carolina
Adorable & freshly renovated cabin located in a private wooded community between Highlands and Franklin in the Nantahala National Forest. Our light & airy cabin is nestled on almost 4 acres of woodsy, mountainous terrain and is private and picturesque, yet still convenient to town. We love relaxing on the front porch, surrounded by nature and enjoying the sounds and views from the front porch. It is a peaceful cabin to relax & enjoy the cool breezes and scenery of the Smoky Mountains.
The home was recently updated with all new comfortable memory foam beds & a mix of new furniture and vintage treasures from the local antique shops. It has an open layout that fits 4 guests comfortably. We also enjoy sitting on the front porch swing with a beverage or roasting some marshmallows by the fire-pit and enjoying the mountain views and scenery.
The nicely equipped kitchen features a fridge with an ice maker, microwave, oven, coffee maker (drip and Keurig) pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and glassware are all included. We also provide a gas grill for outdoor BBQs, just keep in mind sometimes the tank may require filling.
Our cabin is conveniently located in between three tourist friendly areas: Franklin, Highlands (10 miles) and the Cashiers and Lake Glenville area (8 miles). In the area, there are over 15 waterfalls, including the 200-foot cascading Cullasaja Falls and above that is Dry Falls, a powerful 65-foot waterfall that you can walk under. Enjoy picturesque, open views of the mountains at Wayah Bald, Pickens Nose & Sunset rock. We do provide complimentary internet, but due to the mountainous region it can be spotty or slow at times. I wouldn’t book if you’re looking for a place to work.
We also recommend renting a pontoon boat and spending the day at the nearby Lake Glenville. Kids (and adults!) love gem mining for local gems such as rubies & garnet, trout fishing, hiking the Appalachian Trail and cooling off in the swimming holes. This area is also a popular spot for antique shopping, fly fishing, and great locally owned restaurants and breweries.

Cabin was more spacious than I thought it would be. Views from the front porch were awesome as the fall leaves were brilliant with color. Would stay here again.
House was lovely, comfortable, lacked nothing in way of amenities. I appreciated the spice choices! Heat worked fine, plenty of hot water, shower eas great. Your choice of decorating is perfect.
The house was lovely, had everything we needed and it was comfortable. The only downside was it was 9 very windy miles to Highlands and 7 miles to Franklin. It was a beautiful time to be there but we mad it a point to be at the house by dark.
Prefect location for us on a short trip for a wonderful 50th birthday celebration with friend. House is a prefect location to Cashers, Franklin and the beautiful waterfalls and glenville lake. The house decorated nicely and prefect for
two couples so relaxing !!!
My family and I love staying here! It always feels like home away from home. We’ve stayed 4 years in a row now and will be back! It has all the comforts of home and such a beautiful view. Feels private but is still close to lots of great things, too!
My husband and I shared this cabin with another couple and we had a great time by the fire pit and spending alot of time out on the porch looking at the mountains. Very clean and you can tell the owners take very good care of the property. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone.
One of the best trips with my husband! Went for our 11 year anniversary and enjoyed every second. House had everything we needed and more! Great views with porch swing and fire pit. Close to many waterfalls, hikes, and shopping. We will be back again!
We had a great three day stay at the Mountain Air cottage, when we were in town for a wedding. The property is well appointed with everything you need. Nice and clean.
Very nice place to spend two weeks. Front door lock was a lttle wonky at times, but did not create any problems.

mountain air cabin
We enjoyed our stay very much. It was very quiet and peaceful. It was a treat to have my morning coffee setting on the front porch swing watching the fog rise on the nearby mountain. Everything we needed was there. If you like being in the mountains this is the place to stay.

Thank you Kenneth for your great review! We're so happy you enjoyed your stay and that is our favorite thing to do too, enjoy a beverage on the front porch and take in the views.
A very charming cabin in a wooded setting. They go above and beyond the normal amenities. There was more than enough in the way of TP, paper towels, garbage bags, soaps, shampoos, even laundry soap. Would highly recommend staying there.
Absolutely perfect! Nice little private spot!
Surrounded by trees in the mountains!
My fiancé and I spent out nights by the firepit outside which was beautiful
Bed was comfy and house well stocked so we could cook a proper dinner.
10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic Get Away
The cabin was everything we had hoped it would be from the pictures Crissy had posted. It was in a development but very private. We really enjoyed the front porch and the views. The cabin in located convenient to Franklin, although we ate most of our meals in Franklin the kitchen was nice sized and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable and the cabin and furnishings were great. We hope to stay there again next year.

Thank you so much for the great compliments about our cabin! I'm so glad to hear you had a great time and we would love to have you back again next year.
My (mostly spry) elderly parents and I had a lovely stay at Chrissy’s home! It was an easy drive to several easy-moderate hikes in the area and we got to see many waterfalls during our stay. The weather was perfect (think sweatshirt and shorts while drinking coffee on the porch in the AM or watching the fireflies in the evening). The house was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Thanks to the Trujillos for sharing their home! Def recommend.
This cabin was perfect for our girls’ trip. The layout was great. It was well stocked with everything we needed. Chrissy has done a wonderful job decorating it. The big front porch was perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels etc. We felt at home while we were there. Chrissy was a great host and quickly responded with any questions or concerns. The location is close to many attractions, restaurants & shopping. Parking was a little tight and the gravel road leading to cabin had 2 big ruts but we managed with no problem. Highly recommend this place!

Great clean, cozy cabin with a beautiful view
My parents and I returned from the cabin yesterday and are already missing it so much. The cabin was clean, comfy and felt "homey." It had everything we needed and then some! Chrissy has given it a beautiful touch with the decor. We enjoyed fires both inside and out at the firepit. We did bring our own firewood, but there was some there, too. We also enjoyed the front porch and the beautiful mountain view. The kitchen was perfect for cooking our dinners every night, and the location is convenient to many towns. We explored Cashiers, Clayton, GA, Murphy, Dillsboro, Sylva, Cherokee, Bryson City and Maggie Valley! We can't wait to come back!
I can't say enough about how enjoyable our week at Chrissy's cottage was. The decor was cozy and ready for fall. The porch was so comfortable. We spent a lot of time there enjoying the quiet and the view. It was close enough to things yet still remote. The kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable - I even messaged Chrissy to find out where she'd gotten them. We truly needed this time away from the world and this little place delivered. Enjoyed a couple of days with our adult daughter. And both she and my husband enjoyed the daily visits of Summer the dog from up the road who came by for belly rubs and a short sit on the porch with us. We drove up to the Oconaluftee entrance to the Smoky's and saw the elk. We checked out both Highlands & Cashiers and of course Franklin which was lovely. We tried a few hikes in the area. All in all, a sweet & peaceful vacation.

About the host
Hosted by Chrissy Trujillo
I am a graphic designer / photographer who lives with my husband and son in a small coastal town in Florida and spends the summers and fall in the Franklin and Highlands, North Carolina area visiting our family and enjoying the seasons.
Why they chose this property
We chose this area because I have family that lives nearby who we visit throughout the year. I've traveled throughout most of North Carolina, and I love how in this area of Western North Carolina is not over crowded and built up. It's a great area to come and see the seasons change and enjoy hiking, waterfalls and the beautiful landscape.
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with the wide front porch perfect for a porch swing and enjoying the mountain view. The large rock fireplace was another feature we loved, it's so nice and cozy during the winter. The overall feeling of privacy & safety in the neighborhood was another great feature. The 4 acres of wooded land surrounding the property is so peaceful and relaxing. We also enjoy hiking around the neighborhood and exploring the forest and the streams.
