Fabulous multi-night stay while we hiked in nearby Frontenac Park. Comfortable and impeccably clean, with added touches that made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Space is as pictured, and communication with hosts was easy and efficient. Highly recommend staying here when in the area.
Really nice, pet friendly cottage. The waterfront was excellent and had all amenities as advertised. Host was responsive abd very kind. Loved this place!
Hummingbird cottage is an amazing retreat on Desert Lake! Easy to find, plenty of parking, and with an incredibly responsive host, this cottage is perfectly located to explore the Frontenacs region. Martha and Ray have created the ultimate retreat, with a well stocked kitchen, BBQ and fire pit area in addition to fun lake activities like canoeing and kayaking. We were able to relax and enjoy our time with friends worry free in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We are already planning our next visit!
The place was very nice, loads of room for 2 couples with lots of separation. Kitchen was well equipped and the hot tub was a good size and well maintained. The hosts were very responsive to the questions and minor issues we had. There are a few stairs to the lake but this is well documented In the listing. The only downside for us was that the dehumidifier in the lower level had to be emtied multiple times a day to control the humidity during the warmer days.
Beautiful property and amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to make our stay great. We had a wonderful time. Everything was exactly as described in the description. Loved taking the canoe on the lake!
Everything was so well thought out. Little stools for kids and toys, a doggie bed, all cabinets labelled. The lake is amazing, no weeds off the dock and so warm all the time. The hosts are super friendly and responsive. We saw fireflies and hummingbirds! The entire house is beautifully decorated with gorgeous original art.
A very thoughtful and well appointed cottage - more like a premium hotel than cottage. The location was beautiful with privacy and pretty views over the lake. We enjoyed a hike at Frontenac Provincial Park and wished we had more time to explore more of the area. Inside and out, everything was in excellent shape and well maintained. 10 for comfort. Thanks so much Martha and Ray.
Highly recommended and would definitely visit again.Clean and well maintained property with great swimming, nice dock and very picturesque views from the large balconies. Be prepared for lots of stairs to/from the water, but they’ve been recently upgraded and if you bring everything you need you’ll be all set. There’s good fishing in Desert Lake too!The hosts (Martha and Ray) were very welcoming and responsive, their homemade maple syrup is fantastic, and they clearly have love for the place. It’s nice to have the pool table in the basement to pass rainy days and the daily/weekly maintenance expectations for renters are very reasonable.Definitely worth the trip and thank you for a great week!
The entire house was amazing! Playing pool with friends with a crackling fire going and finishing your evening in the hot tub was the best. The lovely personal touches, especially for our dog was so nice and welcoming. An amazing place to stay!
We had a great time at this beautiful property! The cottage is spacious and very comfortable, the lake access is excellent and the we spent many enjoyable hours using the canoe, kayak and paddleboard. Highly recommend!
This is an incredible property. It has just about everything you could want or need. We loved the access to the lake and the various water craft available. We even swam in the water, late in September. Inside has all the right amenities and more and incredibly comfortable beds. We wish we could have stayed for longer.
For us, this property was spectacular. I have to say that this is by far the best waterfront rental property I have ever stayed at. The hosts were wonderfull and live close by to address any problems that might arise, although we didn't encounter any real problems. Every thing was very clean and in excellant condition.
The check-in process was seamless and the hosts were extremely proactive and communicative The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were so comfortable that we checked to see the manufacturer of the mattresses !! The stairs down to the water were a bit of a trek (maybe not recommended for young ones or old ones) but so so worth it. The dock was an amazing place to spend the day fishing or tanning, swimming or boating Fully stocked kitchen with anything you might need! The lower level was a great space for family games and movies / tv We will definitely come to stay again !! I can’t recommend Martha and Ray’s place enough 10/10

Thank you for your positive review! We would love to have you back next year.
My husband and I took our adult daughters and one granddaughter for a 2-day vacation, and we were extremely pleased with our vacation. Despite it being only 2 days, we all left the place content and relaxed. The location is fantastic, and the Airbnb surpassed our expectations. Strongly recommend the place for a nice quiet family gathering with lots to do e.g., kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming.... It was a great stay and our host even let us arrive early, so we could take advantage of the water in this hot weather. Greatly appreciated!
Perfect winter getaway. This is a spacious, thoughtfully designed cottage with huge windows and fantastic lake views set on an expansive, peaceful property. Everything about the stay felt intentional and welcoming. We will absolutely be back.Beautiful, quiet setting with easy access year-round. The sanded stairs down to the lake made winter access safe and simple. We enjoyed lovely walks across the frozen lake and explored nearby trails at Frontenac Provincial Park and Gould Conservation Area, approximately 10 and 25 minutes away, even in snowy conditions.Exceptionally well equipped with everything we needed and more. Highlights included a beautiful pool table, a great fire pit, and a hot tub overlooking the lake. A particularly nice touch was the slippers at the door leading out to the hot tub. The wood-burning stove was fully prepared with matches, newspaper, kindling, logs, and even an axe right there, a small detail that made a big difference.Immaculately clean. The house felt fresh and well cared for throughout. The interior was filled with healthy, thriving plants that honestly looked fake at first, especially impressive for January. The owners clearly care about making each stay special. From the preparation of the firewood to the overall comfort and presentation of the home, everything reflected pride of ownership and genuine hospitality.Absolutely. A standout cottage experience, and especially magical in winter.
I spent Labour Day weekend there with my sisters and niece. There was enough beds for all and enough space for gathering or being on your own. The kitchen is well stocked and the cupboards were labelled, making life that much easier. The kitchen functioned well. It was also a great place to gather and talk as the cook was making dinner. We had an excellent stay and I would highly recommend Martha and this cottage to anyone that wants a place to stay by a lake and experience hummingbirds, bald eagles and osprey.
