Spacious Home with Gorgeous Views and Wonderful Owner to Work With

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Such a beautiful home with gorgeous views!! John was absolutely wonderful to work with!!! He was very accomodating and let us check-in early and out late. Our team really felt refreshed and reenergized by the time we left. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and a better person to work with to arrange everything!

We spent a wonderful Father's Day weekend at Ultravista with our family. The home has magnificent views from all bedrooms and is in a great neighborhood.Jim personally came over and explained everything in detail. It is very close to Stone Mountain Falls. State park and some good vineyards. Overall we had a very nice stay and I highly recommend this home.

Great House

We had a great time at the house. Easily accommodated 15 of us, double oven and kitchen setup made it easy to cook for the group, and lots of space for people to spread out and spend time together. Stone Mountain park being 10 minutes away was a great bonus- strenuous but beautiful and rewarding hike. Host was fantastic, super-responsive, and made things a breeze. The whole group was happy about our decision to stay here. Only wish it had been warm enough to go play at the neighborhood golf course!

Great getaway for a big family

Our whole extended family of 16 had a great week here! Tons of space and a unique layout on 3 floors made it comfortable for several families to share the house enjoyably. Standout features include an incredible panoramic view of the mountains (especially from one of several outdoor tables on the deck), finished garage-turned game room, close proximity to the state park where we spent every single day hiking and swimming in waterfalls and the cutest "hidden" playroom for small children I've ever seen. Thanks for a great week!

Great stay for a group retreat

We had a church youth group retreat at the property for three nights. The house provides all our needs, especially for the teens, for large group study, small group discussion, play room, relaxing time, … It is also close by to Stone Mountain State Park and Pilot Mountain State Park, where we did some nice hiking. The kids also enjoyed the neighborhood pool and tennis court. Last but not the least, John is a wonderful owner who made the trip easier for us. Thanks!

Amazing Mountain Views!

We enjoyed a family Christmas in this beautiful home. Kitchen and pantry has most everything you need to cook for a large family, totally enjoyed the gas oven with the griddle on top for pancakes. Bedrooms are all large and roomy with beautiful mountain views and each with their own full bath. Weather was warm enough we could sit outside and roast marshmallows while watching 8-12 deer on the hillside each evening. Jim was an excellent host and with a wealth of information of the surrounding area.

Just fantastic.

Our family had one of the best vacations I can remember while staying here. John was super responsive when I needed anything and very helpful. The house is incredibly comfortable and well-appointed. We had everything we needed or could want. The house was great but the deck! We spent almost every waking hour on the giant deck just soaking up the view. This is truly a wonderful place. I hope we can go again. My heart is full just thinking of it. ❤️

Our stay in the mountains was perfect. We loved the views, the nearby waterfalls and trails. The accommodations were luxurious! We enjoyed the large bedrooms....we have a big family and there was room for everyone. We loved the deck (the 80' cage)! My 3 year old grandson from KY thought the place was my house...I didn't tell him any different. We made memories for a lifetime. The owner was helpful and involved in the process. We especially recommend for family gatherings.

Wedding festivities

Our family spent a long weekend to enjoy the beautiful wedding of our youngest son, which was held at the Raffaldini Winery. My, now daughter in law, wanted the rehearsal dinner on the back deck of the house and it was a beautiful event. The food was amazing, which was catered by Public 2 from Elkin. We had approximately 25 lovely people to enjoy the love of two families coming together from opposite location of the US. Thank you very much for making our stay enjoyable to all.

Can't miss with Ultravista!

We can't say enough about this great home and the good time we had there. The home is very spacious and comfortable for a large group (we had 13) with still having plenty of room to spare. We really enjoyed the decks (your choice of several), hanging out in the living room with the fireplace, and the ping pong table was a big hit with our crew. Of course we can't say enough about the views from the deck or really from most anywhere in the house. The home was very well stocked with appliances, grills, towels, beds, extra tables and chairs, games, and even a pantry that was surprising with what was in it. The state park is only 15 minutes away with some incredible hikes and there are a couple wineries nearby with some very good wines. Jim is a very accommodating and accessible gentleman and a pleasure to meet.

Cousin Weekend

The first word that comes to mind when thinking about our stay is WOW! Our group comes from 4 different states (GA, WV, NC, and MD) and everyone absolutely fell in love with the home and the gorgeous view. There were 11 of us and we had more than ample space and more than enough bathrooms for all us girls. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed plus some staple items that came in handy when cooking. The furniture was most comfortable and beautifully decorated, love all the antique dressers! The neighborhood was beautiful, and we loved looking at all the homes around the area. Location is close to several vineyards and Stone Mountain State Park which we took advantage of and also found a few area restaurants about 15 minutes away. Circle L Family Restaurant was a hit for all of us, great food and service. Homeowner was more than accommodating and was pretty quick to answer any concern we had which were not many. Check in was very easy and parking was plenteous. Driveway was a little steep, but we all made it work. Would highly recommend as the pictures do not lie. The view was worth the stay and so relaxing as we even got to watch a rainstorm come in and see a double rainbow from atop our mountain.

Great views in a home away from home.

We're always looking for a house that accommodates our family of 8 adults and 6 children aged 2-10. We hit a home run with this find. Beautiful, south-facing views of the NC Foothills in a well-stocked home with everything you need and then some. Proximity to Stone Mountain State Park and local offerings make it even better for quick, daytime excursions (always interesting with this many people). This house feels like a home from the moment you walk in, making the ease into vacation mode that much easier. The owners have a "use what you need" and pay it forward approach to renting, which means common household items are on hand. As with any rental I always recommend bringing a quality kitchen knife or two and your own pillows. Although plenty of knives and pillows, nothing really comes close to those items from home for prepping and sleeping...two high points on my list for any trip. To close I'll say this...in our comprehensive search for homes in the NC mountains, this house is a find when it comes to value and accommodations, occupying a sweet spot I've only found with a few other properties.

THIS HOUSE IS A DREAM!

Hands down, look no further if you want a dream home in the mountains and a chance to truly escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The pictures do not do this house justice. With over 6 bedrooms, and sleeping for 14 people++, this house offers something for everyone. I loved the lay out of the house and how spacious it was. We had different guests over the course of my 2 week stay (ranging from 28-70 year olds). We were never in each other's way. You have a ping pong table in the house, books to read and even a secret hide out with toys for young children. The kitchen is stocked with anything you could ever need! There is even additional tables and chairs for your large group. In the morning, all you want to do is sit on the porch and look at the mountains. The house has an outdoor fire pit to make s'mores and a BBQ which we utilized many times. The snack pantry has your everyday needs, and we were happy to help replenish after our stay. We enjoyed walking to the pool in the neighborhood and even played basketball. The neighborhood has access to a pool, basketball, and tennis courts. There is something for everyone! You are in the mountains and so you do need a car. In order to go the grocery store, it's about half hour round trip. We found many great things around the area including wineries, water sports and hiking. You can't go wrong with this house. The home owner, Jim, treats you like royalty. From the time you sign your contract, arrive and then leave, he is there for you whenever you need him. He has created a beautiful home and felt so lucky he would share it with us during this wonderful trip. Everyone is still talking about this house over a month later. I would absolutely recommend this home to ANYONE. You will be very happy with the accommodations and most importantly the care and treatment you receive from Jim is beyond satisfaction. I can't wait to go back and visit him!

Wedding Weekend

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our wedding weekend! The view itself made our stay worth it but the house was also amazing and allowed for us to accomodate some of our family and closest friends. I would recommend staying here over and over again and hope we can visit again sometime!

About the host

Hosted by John Koz 704-560-0999

Host profile image
Our dad built this home for a marketing executive from NYC in 1966, and actually built most of those homes in High Meadows. He and mom bought it back in 1999, and have more than doubled the square footage over the last two decades. We just purchased it from them in 2021 in order to keep the legacy going. We love this home, and we are certain you will too.

Why they chose this property

From Dad:
My company designed and built this house at about half its present size in 1966. Years later we built them a bigger home two houses up the street, and sold this house to a couple from Florida. When it became available again in 1998, Nancy and I bought it because all the really good view lots had been built on and we had always dreamed of living on one of the spectacular view properties on Ridge Road. We gutted it down to the bare framing, doubled its size and built it all over again, finishing in 2000. We lived here for 10 years and then moved into a new home across the street in Olde Beau.

What makes this property unique

Having designed and built almost all the view homes on Ridge Road, Nancy and I knew that the view was good, but didn't know it was spectacular until we lived there. I didn't know that sunrises sometimes are as beautiful as the best sunset. Also, I had no idea that a full moon could be so brilliantly exciting. Watching lightning storms in the valley from up here is really special. So are fireworks in valley communities on July 4th. When the fog is lying in the valley, the mountain tops look like islands in a cotton sea. And every night when the lights come on down below, called 'valley stars' by locals, it looks like a large city. The view is different every day.
