I highly recommend staying here! This cabin provides a nice escape from reality. The cabin was comfortable and cozy. Plus the view was great! My husband and I will be coming back again in the future!
Thank you so much. We're open year round so come back when you can! It's always beautiful up there.
Great views and relaxing stay
This was perfect. It was a much needed stay away from everything, and this cabin does just that. It’s quaint inside, and the heat was already on so we were greeted with warmth from the rain. The views are gorgeous, and the coffee was much appreciated. There’s hot plates for cooking, and that was perfect to make eggs and bacon. The grill was great and worked great for kabobs! And the fire pit was a great way to calm down the evening. I highly recommend!
RaeAnn, thanks for the kind review. We try to make every guests stay a memorable one and it sounds like you took a lot of memories home with you. Please come back to visit with us again real soon!
Good weekend get away
We had a great time. Very close to the stone mountain park.
"lifelong memories are made in the cabin" - just not the ones we wanted.
The location is really nice for the view and if you are interested in hiking Stone Mountain is it right next door. Traphill is a pretty middle-of-nowhere vibe which is exactly what we wanted.
Unfortunately when we arrived something seemed wrong with the hot tub as it was at 70 degrees. We made sure the setting was set to 104 but after waiting a few hours it had barely changed. This trend continued until afternoon the second day where we got it to work but the lights and jets would turn off almost immediately after we pressed them. Just a few hours later when we got in again is was 95 ~ lukewarm bathtub. The morning we were going to leave it was back in the 70s. Very disappointing as this was the main selling point for choosing this stay. And we were constantly monitoring it trying to get it to work, it would heat for a second then cut out.
There were stink bugs everywhere, I must have taken out 30 in the 3-day 2-night span because they kept flying around us inside and attacking the lights. Ed was responsive coming into the weekend but when I texted him about the hot tub it took him over a day to respond, the housekeeper who left her number never responded to me. Dishes had to be re-washed before being used. The wifi is weak and slow enough as to be non-existent.
Based on the other reviews I'm sure this place is a great find in the right season, Ed seemed like a nice and flexible host and I'm sure he was also just on vacation as well this weekend hence the slow response. The dishes are supposed to be washed, cleaned and put away by the previous guest so that's probably more their fault than whoever tidied the place up. So I understand this was probably just an unlucky weekend for us, however, it still feels like we got screwed out of a few hundred bucks.
In summary, this was portrayed as a cozy retreat with hot tub and wifi and a fireplace all to ourselves but for us, it was more of a lukewarm bathtub in 40-degree weather with our phone's data plans a propane heater and your friendly neighborhood stinkbugs for company.
In the vacation rental business we've discovered that the vast majority of guest are good, decent people. This one is not. The instructions posted inside our cabin CLEARLY state to CALL us or our caretaker if they encounter any problems. Instead he kept sending text messages which are not monitored hourly on weekends. He kept changing the settings on the hot tub and responded that he had solved the problem. Our housekeeper takes great pride in making sure our cabins are clean and in good condition for arriving guest. The dishes are ALWAYS washed and clean. The stink bugs have been a problem for the entire Yadkin Valley for the past few years and despite us having it regularly treated by a professional exterminating company some of these harmless critters still manage to make their way in during the cold months. I personally was up there the day before he arrived and I saw ZERO stink bugs so I believe he is lying about that also. We were concerned about this guest but left a good review for him anyway. After seeing him leave this false review, we will try to modify our review of him to alert other vacation rental companies to beware of him. This was a malicious review designed to harm our good reputation but we are grateful for the many 5 star review that speak for themselves. He is banned from renting from us again and I hope other renters will take note also.
We spent NYE in this little cabin on the top of the mountain and it was incredible!! The views, hot tub, grill, and fire pit are awesome. Very private secluded area although there is one other cabin next to this one. BUT It was perfect! We will definitely be returning!
Hope you got to see the fireworks in the valley. We were there a few years ago on new years eve and it was awesome. Come back to see us soon!
Beautiful views, quiet and cozy getaway
We were able to truly relax on our trip to this cabin, and bundled up to spend time enjoying the view from the porch as well as the big hammock. The gas fireplace kept the cabin nice and warm. There is a TV with satellite - not sure if the 'snowy' picture is the satellite reception or the TV itself. The kitchen had all the basics we needed except sugar, which we were able to get at the Country Store just down the road. They also have bins where you can deposit recycling. We did spend a lot of time killing stink bugs, but they were easy to catch and are harmless.
Stone Mountain is wonderful. Unfortunately due to an ankle injury we couldn't do any real hiking, but did get to see a waterfall and the homestead at the base of the stone cliff face. The visitor center sells bundles of firewood for $5, great for the fire pit at the cabin.
Overall the cabin is very clean. I was very disappointed however, on the morning we checked out, when I got into the hot tub for the first time and realized that it hasn't been cleaned (not talking about floating debris or dust blown under the cover from the wind). I am sure if we had contacted the housekeeper it would have been taken care of, but as I said we were about to check out.
We would recommend this cabin and hope to have the chance to stay again in the future.
