Escape to this cozy cottage in picturesque Cheboygan, Michigan. Located near the northwest corner of Mullett Lake, this cottage is close to both the activities around the Mullett Lake Village and the mouth of the Cheboygan River. Boating, golfing, swimming, and hiking/biking are less than a mile from your door. The cottage is approximately 5 miles from the town of Cheboygan and about 25 miles from the Mackinac Bridge, making it a great home base to explore both Upper and Lower Northern Michigan. This charming property features a good sized yard and deck overlooking your own dock on Mullett Lake. The water is crystal clear with sandy bottom swimming. Boat rentals are available just down the road at Jack's Marina or we can provide a mooring spot for your boat. The cottage is spacious with a large living room, a TV room, dining space, and 2 bedrooms (queen and full bed). Couches or an additional air mattress can be provided for sleeping (likely for kids). Cottage is fully equipped - just bring towels for bath and beach. The cottage has internet and a washer/dryer for guest use. It's a prime Mullett Lake location for smaller families or couples! We think it's one of the nicest spots on the lake! Please no smoking and no pets.

This place was perfect for our little family of 4. It is right on the water and my kids really enjoyed swimming and playing on the dock. The marina is just a few minute walk from the cottage. We were able to walk there for ice-cream and fishing (we of course asked the people that worked there for permission and went after they were closed).The host/owners are so kind they brought treats for the kiddos and even lend bikes to my kids to use while we were there. Thank you so much, we had a blast!

Great stay at Mullet Lake

This property is older but very nice and right on the lake with a boat dock that we used and was very happy with. The owner was outstanding to talk to and work with. The parking is somewhat limited for a larger or trailer vehicle but the owner had a place for our boat trailer next door so it was all good. Great folks !!Loved our stay! And the fishing is excellent for rainbow trout, walleye, bass and pike. So beautiful and so clean and peaceful property. This rental was the best equipped that we have ever stayed in, she had everything you could want for. We highly recommended this owner and property!!

The cottage was clean and comfortable with added amenities including A/C, washer, dryer, dishwasher and a detached garage for parking/storage. We loved the beautiful views of the lake from the back room or deck. We spent plenty of time on the dock and in the shallow, warm and sandy bottom water, just steps from the patio doors. We walked down to and rented a jet ski from Jack’s Marina one day and snuck a round of golf in at Mullet Lake Golf Club across the street on another. Also took a day trip to Mackinac Island for the first time since we were staying so close. Cheboygan being a 10min drive was convenient for groceries. We are already considering this property again for next summer!

Our names are John and Sue Jazdzyk. We have lived in Cheboygan on and off for over 50 years. Both natives of Muskegon, MI, we moved to this area in the late 1960's. John originally came to the area to work for the Charmin Paper Company, stayed to work for Proctor and Gamble, and ultimately had to relocate to Wisconsin when the company closed their Cheboygan location. We had built our home from the ground up (it's just down the road from this cottage) and we couldn't bear to part with it. We rented our original home for over 20 years - way before VRBO existed! In fact, it was one of the very first large rentals available on Mullett Lake. After John retired we returned to Cheboygan full time and now love spending time with our kids and grandkids here. We purchased this cottage in 2024 with hopes to rent it to family, friends, and anyone who loves Mullett Lake. While we were living and working in Green Bay, we loved hosting families. It allowed us to keep our original lake home and we will always be grateful to our summer renters - many of whom we came to think of as family. We look forward to helping many more families make memories in the cottage on Mullett!

Why they chose this property

There is so much to do around the Mullett Lake Village. It's a beautiful area with some very historic Mullett Lake homes. At this cottage you are close to hiking and biking on the rails trail, golf at the Mullett Lake Country Club, a boat launch, a full service marina with boat rentals and a food truck(!), and a great general store (for pizza and ice cream). Cheboygan and it's lively downtown is just 5 miles away. We are also a great jumping off point for trips to Petoskey, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, and the Upper Peninsula. The beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan and Huron are also a short drive away.

The cottage on Mullett is all about location - we are a short boat trip from the mouth of the Cheboygan River and just north of the charming Mullett Lake Village. We offer beautiful sandy swimming and a place to moor your boat. The cottage has large rooms and a beautiful deck overlooking the lake. Come stay with us - you won't be disappointed!
