About this property
King Lakefront Retreat on 7.5 Acres Near Wineries
Escape to a private Lake Erie retreat in the heart of wine country with 7.5 acres, 550 feet of lake frontage, and stunning views. This 3-bedroom, 2-bath home offers rare privacy, with neighbors hundreds of feet away. Two bedrooms feature king beds for a comfortable stay. Take in beautiful Lake Erie views, just 2 miles from Lake Erie State Park and about 20 min from Chautauqua Lake. A true getaway for families, couples, or friends.
Welcome to our private Lake Erie retreat in the heart of New York wine country. Set on 7.5 peaceful acres with 550 feet of lake frontage, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath home offers a rare mix of privacy, open space, and stunning lake views. Unlike many area rentals, this property gives you room to spread out, with neighbors hundreds of feet away instead of just 20 to 30 feet like most properties. It is a quiet, private setting where you can truly relax, enjoy nature, and unwind. Enjoy the saltwater hot tub as you wind down and watch the sunset over the water.
This home is located in Portland, New York, surrounded by the beauty of the Chautauqua-Lake Erie grape region. Chautauqua County is widely recognized as the largest grape-growing county in the U.S. outside of California, and the broader Lake Erie wine region is one of the most significant grape-growing areas east of the Rocky Mountains.
You will feel tucked away in the country, yet still be close to everything. The home is approximately 10 to 15 minutes from Fredonia, Dunkirk, and Westfield, and about 20 minutes from Bemus Point on Chautauqua Lake, making it easy to enjoy wineries, restaurants, shopping, and local attractions while still coming back to a peaceful retreat. Bemus Point is roughly 26 miles from Dunkirk, which supports about a 20-minute-plus drive depending on your exact starting point and traffic.
What makes this property especially meaningful to us is that while we own more than 30 short-term rentals, this is the only one we originally bought for our own family to enjoy. We are excited to share it with guests on the days we are not using it ourselves, and we hope you will feel that personal touch during your stay.
The property also features frisbee golf for guests to enjoy, adding a fun outdoor activity right on site. Please note that while the home has beautiful Lake Erie frontage and incredible views, there is not currently direct water access.
The land at the property is currently under restoration. We recently cleared a large area to open up the breathtaking water views, and throughout the 2026 season we will continue improving and restoring the field and land between the house and the lake. No work will take place during guest stays, but some outdoor areas will still be in transition as we complete the long-term vision for the property.
If you are looking for a peaceful, private getaway with lake views, acreage, wine country charm, and space to reconnect with nature, this is a one-of-a-kind place to stay.
Here’s a slightly more Airbnb-optimized first paragraph too, if you want a punchier opening:
Escape to a private Lake Erie retreat in the heart of wine country, featuring 7.5 acres, 550 feet of lake frontage, stunning views, frisbee golf, and a peaceful natural setting just minutes from Fredonia, Dunkirk, Westfield, and Chautauqua Lake.

Beautiful property. It will be even better when the lake access is finished at the bluff. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the property beautiful.
It was a pleasure hosting your group, and we would love to welcome you back to Lake Erie anytime!
We had a wonderful stay here with another couple. It can be hard to find a place that has two king bedrooms, so this was perfect for us. The home was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of space to relax. We really enjoyed walking the property and taking in the peaceful setting. The views of Lake Erie were breathtaking, and it felt private and relaxing while still being close to everything we wanted to do. One of our favorite parts was being only a few miles from our favorite winery, which made the trip even better.Overall, it was a great place for a couples’ getaway. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
hard to get around the property, very rough, I tripped over roots sticking out of the ground. Very hard for older people to get up and down the hill in the back. No dish towels for doing the dishes. One roll of toilet tissue and paper towels had to go to the store to buy more. Not enough towels for 8 people for the whole week, it wouldn't have been bad if there was a washer and dryer, had to go buy dish and bath towels.

Hi Pam,
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are glad you rated our cleanliness, communication, and overall house rules 5/5 stars!
That said, we feel a 6/10 overall rating is an unfair reflection of the property. Our retreat is a 7.5-acre natural lakefront estate. Featuring woods, small "hills", and exposed roots, it is raw Lake Erie acreage and not a flat, paved resort. While most guests book specifically for this expansive natural environment, navigating 7.5 acres outdoors naturally depends on individual mobility and physical capability. Guests can easily enjoy sweeping lake views directly from inside the house or while relaxing in an Adirondack chair right outside on the lawn, without ever needing to walk the grounds.
Regarding supplies, as explicitly stated in our listing notes, we provide starter sets of paper products for guest arrival, but we do not supply unlimited paper goods or extra linens.
We love sharing our lakefront property with travelers as it is truly one of the most unique waterfront stays in the area. We are always improving the land and hope future guests can appreciate wide-open spaces, peaceful views, and rustic natural surroundings that our retreat has to offer!
Best regards,
James
