About this property
Charming Cabin With Stunning Views!
Our charming cabin with world-class views is ideal for a quiet retreat, a cozy weekend get-away, or a home base for biking adventures. With stunning views of the White Mountains, the cabin is set on a hilltop surrounded by woods, a small family orchard, and a vegetable garden. Located on our 75 acres bordered by hundreds of acres of woods and conserved land, you'll find beauty and calm all around you.
The cabin features one main room with a fold-down futon couch bed, chairs to relax in, a breakfast nook with kitchenette, a desk to work at, and a small fireplace. A cozy sleeping loft above the main area provides additional privacy. Linens and blankets for both beds are provided.
The kitchenette offers a mini-fridge, toaster oven, electric kettle, coffee maker, cookware, flatware, and dinnerware. You'll also find a starter supply of common household items - trash bags, paper towels, dish soap, and the like.
There is an outdoor propane grill with grilling utensils; eat on the deck or at the picnic table while enjoying the views. In the evening, relax around a fire at the outdoor fire pit.
There is no indoor plumbing in the cabin. Behind the cabin is an outdoor sink and enclosed shower, both with running hot and cold water. While there's no indoor toilet, there is a portolet onsite.
The cabin is powered by the sun and is off-grid. If needed during cloudy weather there is a generator for backup, as well as family games and DVDs for rainy days. There is cell service for most carriers, and most people can get online through their data plans. There is no WiFi.
If you're bringing your canine fur baby, please make sure they're added to the reservation. We can provide a dog bed, toys, treats, and waste bags (please clean up after your pet!). We prefer dogs stay off the furniture, but please bring your own protective cover just in case. If they are to be left unattended please bring a crate for them while you're out.
Because this is a very rural area there is no trash pickup, and our local transfer station is only open on Saturdays. There are bins at the cabin for trash, recycling, and compost, but to reduce wildlife temptation we appreciate when guests "carry in, carry out."
Although very private the cabin is conveniently located 12-15 miles from two I91 exits. We are 20 minutes from the Groton State Forest, 30 from Barre and Bradford, 45 from Montpelier and Dartmouth College, and 90 from Burlington.
Please keep in mind we live and work onsite. Our land is also the home of The Growing Peace Project (thegrowingpeaceproject.org), and the garden behind the cabin is part of our food security programs. While we make every effort to respect guest privacy, during your stay you may see one or two of us quietly tending the garden or orchard. If you need us for any reason, our home is onsite.
Wildlife abounds! You will hear song birds, mourning doves, owls, our resident raven family, and sometimes coyotes. You might see deer or a porcupine in the orchard, and possibly a moose if you're lucky. This is a truly special place, and we're looking forward to sharing it with you.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
In our rural area there is no trash pickup, and our transfer station/recycling center is open just one day/week. To avoid attracting animals we appreciate "carry in, carry out" as much as possible.
Vermont law does not allow food waste in the landfill. Please use the compost bucket provided in the kitchenette, and make sure the lid is secure when you check out.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
NO children in the loft
