Convenient walk to UC, Haas, MSRI, Simons and Goldman School. Historic home.
One bedroom/ one bath apartment in an historic 1924 home situated in the beautiful Berkeley hills overlooking San Francisco Bay. This flat includes a fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops, microwave, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The bedroom is large, with a queen size bed and beautiful views. The bathroom, which includes a shower/ no tub, is accessible through the bedroom as well as a separate hall from the living room. The living room has a queen-size sofa bed and a flat screen TV. Cable and wifi are included. The apartment has its own washer/dryer.
The apartment is accessed down a flight of steps through a locked gate. An intercom allows the guest to open the gate for guests with the push of a button. On-street parking is plentiful. Some guests chose to purchase daily parking passes but this is entirely optional.
The unit has an entrance directly onto a garden that was designed by the Berkeley landscape designer Keeyla Meadows. It's pretty wonderful! With fruit trees, roses, and California native plants.

I've stayed in about a dozen Airbnb or VRBO rentals over the past few years and this is without a doubt my favorite of all. Located in a beautiful Berkeley neighborhood, the unit was large, clean and opened into a patio with paths leading to a very nice garden area on the lower part of the property. I highly recommend staying here!
Beautiful proprty in the Berkeley Hills close to Chez Panisse etc.
Stunning Bay and SF views. Well appointed apartment. Owners answer immediately and are helpful and friendly. As good a place as we've ever been at after extensive world wide travel.
We had a great time there. It was well situated in the hills. The views were breathtaking , the yard and its flora were beautiful, and the owners were kind and welcoming.
We had a wonderful experience staying in this beautiful historic home. This home has become our favorite place to stay every time we visit Berkeley. We enjoyed the amazing views of San Francisco Bay.
My family and I very much enjoyed our stay and the beautiful views of the bay and the City of San Francisco.
The place was clean, comfortable, and close to markets and great restaurants. Also, very close to UC Berkerkely.

Nice view!
Cute place with a nice view of SF. Not a lot of restaurants and other places close by that is a short distance to walk... somewhat isolated but quiet.
Lovely spacious apartment up in the Berkeley hills. Wonderful views of the bay. Gardens are gorgeous. Host is responsive and we felt available if needed. Walkable to many restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and plan to be back next time we’re in Berkeley.
We loved staying in this unique, beautiful apartment in an historic house! The terraced garden was lush and extensive with fruit trees and the patio view of San Fran was stunning. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for a full week stay. The hosts were very friendly, inviting and responsive. We will certainly return to this hillside retreat.
Just amazing. The perfect if are going to visit UC Berkeley.
I always stay with Susan and Greg if possible and I have been there 4 times during 8 years. The apartment is fine and cozy, the garden with birds and squirrels and the view of the bay and SF is just wonderful. So, I hope to be back soon.
Spacious and clean one bedroom apartment with spectacular view of San Francisco, tucked on a quiet street in the Berkeley hills, only a short walk to the university. The apartment opens onto a beautifully maintained three level garden. It was a perfect spot for visiting our family who is scattered across the East Bay. Although we had little need to contact our hosts, they were readily available. We would definitely stay here again.

Gergeous view
My parents and sister had a lovely long weekend in this place. The view of the bay bridge is absolutely breathtaking. The backyard is beautiful. Definitely be prepared for the steps. They are easily navigated but it's good to know that you will need to go up and down them each time you come and go. The amenities of downtown Berkeley are just down the hill so everything you might need is close by.

Stayed there 4 nights. It definitely has a great view of the bay and SF! That was the highlight. It is not in a convenient location to restaurants and it sits up on a hill to where if you walk anywhere be ready to take a hike back up! We took an Uber to wherever we needed to go. For a reason I will not divulge, I simply could not give it a good cleanliness rating. It should have been taken care of if things were being cleaned well!!!
This was a cozy, clean, and aesthetically inspiring apartment with a wonderful view and a sprawling garden. My kids (ages 9 and 13) and I stayed here nearly a week, doing all kinds of fun activities in Berkeley. I asked the 9 year old what her favorite part of the trip was, and she said cuddling up in the little book nook while looking out at the view every evening. They felt at home and did not get homesick at all--which is first!
Beautiful garden and apartment. Well equipped for a stay with laundry and kitchen facilities and a book library. Note that's quite a walk up a steep hill from Berkeley so you need to be fit or else have your own vehicle or use Uber. A great introduction for us to America. Susan is a friendly helpful host and the view to the city is stunning.
We love staying at this beautiful apartment in the Berkeley hills. The view is wonderful from the garden patio. The apartment is spacious and has everything we need. The owners are welcoming and accommodating. We plan to return!
My wife and I stayed for 5 nights to visit Berkeley and hit all our favorite spots from when we used to live in Berkeley. The accommodations provided a great spot for us to live in for the week. We were able to cook some simple meals and loved the view of the Bay Bridge. The location is awesome, far enough up the hill to have a view, quiet neighborhood with easy street parking, and walkable to the Rose Garden. We had a great stay!
Hubby and I were in town for over a month to visit with brand new grandson. Daughter's house is too small and the Berkeley Hills home was a nice retreat. Daughter ended up coming a few afternoons to relax and take a nap while I got to take care of our grandchild. Thanks for a nice stay.
We really enjoyed our time in Berkeley and would definitely stay at this apartment again. It was very clean and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We had no problems with the stairs or the on street parking and the location is great!

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Property Manager
We have lived in Berkeley for twenty four years. We have two generations living in the house as well as sharing the house with two very friendly dogs. We are originally from the midwest but now very much consider Berkeley our home. We've enjoyed sharing the house with guests from all over the world and have found that we take great pride in helping our guests take advantage of the many offerings available to travelers throughout this area.
Why they chose this property
It has been a real pleasure for us to give this historic home a new life, returning it to its former glory, filling it with energy and reviving its gorgeous gardens. The house is situated within Berkeley's historic Maybeck district (also known as 'nut hill' for the many characters who have lived in this area). Throughout its history, this home has welcomed renowned artists, scientists, and academicians. Many of our guests appreciate our easy proximity to the UCBerkeley Campus (five blocks), our easy access to both wonderful hiking (with great views of the Bay), and great food and shopping. For us, the best thing about this great old home is the magnificent views from almost every window!
What makes this property unique
The house has four units, including one that my husband and I share with our dog and one that my mother-in-law lives in. One can be either very private or you can enjoy some company. Its a nice, flexible environment. The views from every room are pretty spectacular. And everything in the place is new...from the plumbing to the appliances. It is possible, in just about any weather, to sit in your private entryway, staring out at San Francisco Bay and enjoying the garden below. Nice way to spend time in the Bay! We are a 20 minute walk (downhill) to Berkeley's gourmet ghetto, including the world famous Chez Panisse Restaurant, and a 20 minute walk (uphill) to Tilden Regional Park, a vast park that includes walking trails, equestrian trails, a petting farm, antique calliope, steam trains, golf courses and more. This is a gem of the East Bay.
