Lovingly designed and built, with peaked ceilings, gas fireplace, radiant heat floors and wooden windows. Private patio area. Bedroom #1 with queen size bed. Bedroom #2/den has couch that converts to full-size bed. Day bed in living room has twin mattress. Full size appliances, fully equipped kitchen. Washer and dryer in cottage.

Walking distance to College Avenue shops and restaurants, UC Berkeley and BART. Parking space available, but many people come without a car. Elmwood neighborhood has a library, bank, movie theater, 2 bookstores and many great restaurants and shops. Great location for visiting Berkeley, or as a base for exploring San Francisco and northern California.

We had a lovely stay at Patty’s immaculate cottage. The neighborhood is beautiful and serene and the cottage itself provided everything we needed. Our host couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly and we had several enjoyable and informative conversations with her.

My son and I loved staying at Patty's place. So much light and a lovely little garden with outside seating. Wonderful location near shops and restaurants, but very quiet. I would love to come back.

This cottage was lovely. Honestly, I wouldn't change anything about it. Patty was very helpful. The kitchen was very well equipped. The bed was quite comfortable for two. Some of my favorite things there were the flowers. They were everywhere! She obviously has a very green thumb. We would love to stay there again.

The perfect family cottage for visitors!

We have family coming to visit from the east coast at least twice a year and this has been the perfect place for them when they are in town. Patty is a fantastic host and the cottage is always well kept. It’s a plus to be walking distance to our house and so many things on College Ave.

Great Berkeley neighborhood

This location was so convenient. Close to all we needed, safe and quiet. We didn't cook but the kitchen was really nice if you wanted to...full size appliances, lots of tools, etc.

Great property in a fabulous location in Berkeley. Easy and efficient access with clipper card to all transport options in Bay Area. Beautiful walking neighborhood with fabulous California food. Host is great!

Perfect Berkeley Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at the Elmwood cottage. Patty was a great host - making sure we had access for our evening arrival and coming out to greet us in the morning but still giving us our privacy and space. We had our little pup and young child with us and felt totally safe walking around the neighborhood. Definitely will be back!

Charming and Comfortable Cottage!

My husband and I traveled from Florida to Berkeley so we could be present for the birth of our new grandson. We stayed at this charming, light and bright Elmwood cottage for two weeks. Patty, the owner, is wonderful and has thought of everything to make her renters feel at home. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is very comfortable and there are hooks and cubbies everywhere (as well as closets and shelves) for guests to use. In addition, the neighborhood is quiet, friendly and it is only a one block walk from the cottage to charming downtown Elmwood. We will definitely be back!!! ❤️

Perfect Berkeley cottage

This is a wonderful cottage in an ideal location. The cottage is located behind Patty's house on a quiet street that's three blocks from the inviting College Avenue array of varied restaurants (Italian, American, Mediterranean, ice cream, Peet's). A 20-minute walk to the UC campus. The cottage itself has a large, comfortable bed in main bedroom. a second bedroom with a pull-out couch that we used as an office during a six-day stay, an up-to-date and well-equipped kitchen and bathroom, spacious living/family space with big-screen, Hulu-endowed TV. and a small, partially shaded outdoor patio that became one of my favorite go-to parts of the entire stay. Patty is a great host. We look forward to a return visit.

Excellent, fully-equipped kitchen and laundry with efficient washer and dryer. Pantry had some condiments, coffee, and tea, so it was not necessary to shop for these items in order to dine in. Location is in a beautiful, quiet residential neighborhood, but convenient to interesting shops, restaurants, and a variety of good carry-outs for sushi, salads, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Middle Eastern, ice cream--all within a five to ten minute walk.Rooms were clean, well-arranged, and very comfortable, with many seating areas. The cottage has lovely natural light, ventilation, and a garden.

My son and I stayed here while we shopped to move him into his new place. It was very private, clean, and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Very walkable and College Avenue has lots of food choices. So much fun to explore.

We had a wonderful stay at Patty's cottage and it was everything that we had hoped it would be! Patty was there to greet us upon arrival and show us the ropes and was always lovely and friendly when we bumped into her during our stay. The cottage was clean and well stocked with everything that we needed to cook, make coffee and just enjoy ourselves. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of clean towels and linens. The location could not be better, walking distance to just about everything you need. We had a small issue with a smoke alarm that decided to start chirping right after we arrived, and after telling Patty about, it she had somebody there in 15 minutes to change the battery and resolve the problem. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in Berkeley and maybe we'll be able to convince Patty to join us for a glass of wine next time too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s a cozy, recently constructed cottage with all modern amenities. It’s very well designed in every respect with lots of cupboard and storage space. There is parking in the driveway.The location couldn’t be better. It’s walking distance to shops and restaurants along College Ave.Patty, the owner, lives in the front house and is very personable and accommodating. We’re looking forward to staying here again!

wonderful stay at adorable cottage in terrific neighborhood

My two teenagers and I enjoyed our stay in the beautiful cottage in Berkeley. We appreciated the well-appointed home, with all the amenities we needed - washer dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, etc. The host even provided cloth bags for our grocery shopping! We would happily stay there again - it's a real gem

Why they chose this property

Berkeley combines a world-class university, a lively history of social change, great beauty, a temperate climate, restaurants of every kind and and a wide selection of cultural events. It spoiled me for living anywhere else ( though I did try).

What makes this property unique

I built this cottage with myself in mind, and I plan to live there when I'm older. I made sure it felt spacious despite its small size, and had lots of interesting details.
