Loved the text communication. When there was a small maintenance issue, someone came right away, even though it was a holiday week. Some remotes need new batteries, and the straps on the beach chairs are on their last legs, but the location and unit were lovely and perfect for our family trip.

The location is great with many places to walk to from the local grocery store, Times, fresh seafood market/restaurant, numerous other restaurants, food trucks nearby. The unit is well appointed with all necessary supplies. Great BBQs and pool area.

Good location but...

The unit was fine. It wasn't as good as other units I rented in this complex. The biggest problem was the property manager. The A/C wasn't working when we checked in. It was set at 72 but it was just hot air blowing from the outside. I called the management company 2 days into the trip. They got a/c working but it couldn't be adjusted. Four days later, I received a call from a repair tech telling me he'll fix it the day that we left. Don't expect much from chasing rainbow. Not even an apology !!

code for the door was delivery check inn at 11pm we wait for more than 4 hours the code was changed 3 day after whit out notice again 3 hours until we got the new code i was able to talk to the emergency number bad attitude don ever go there

Great Location - Not Very Clean or Well-Stocked Though

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was exactly as pictured, just a few hundred feet to the sea wall (no immediate beach access) and pool/hot tub (which both close at 10, sadly!). The beds were comfortable, but we found the kitchen was not stocked - no tin foil, no ziplocks, no sponge, and one single roll of paper towels for our 9 day stay. I expected a little more for what we were paying, sadly! The other issue was cleanliness, or lack thereof. I swept the floor upon our arrival because it felt a bit gritty, and came up with an entire dustpan full of dirt, hair, and misc. we then began noticing fingerprint smudges on all of the windows, cabinets, etc....I ended up cleaning the place myself for a while on our first day because it felt so dirty!

Outstanding, relaxing vacation

I’ve stayed at Papakea many times over the past several years. I’ve kept coming back because of the quiet, laid-back atmosphere. This condo was perfect for our family vacation. The decor is a really pretty island style. The kitchen has everything you could need to prepare meals. We had a slight problem with the kitchen sink running slowly. We called Chasin” Rainbows, went out for a few hours, and by the time we got back, it was fixed & never gave us a problem again! The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The moon was full when we were there, so, each morning we got up early, walked (less than a minute) to the ocean and watched the sun light up the sky. It was one of our favorite times of the day. We saw lots of turtles right oceanfront to the condos. The Farmers Market store just up the street has great food! Our advice is -try as many local owned businesses as you can. They’re always our favorite shops and restaurants! Mahalo to the owners for sharing your wonderful piece of paradise.

Great spot

This was our 6th time staying at Papakea. All different condos thru VRBO. We stayed in over of the ocean front door condos, 2-3rd floor ones and ground floor ones. This was the best location did far! The pond is right of the Lani. Pool is a 30sec walk, so close but still far enough away to not have to hear everyone all day if your inside. Short walk from the parking lot, which the ABC store is practically a part of. Best part, it's not next to a elevator or stairs!!! That's the absolute worst at night. We stayed in a room 3 doors down last time and were woken up all night by people outside. The condo itself is very cute and exactly what you see in the pictures and description. It was stocked with 4 Tommy Bahama beach chairs and whatever beach items people seem to leave instead of pack home, like sand toys, pool noodles, we ended up leaving a couple boogie boards and snorkel masks. So your set when you start here. Side note, there are a lot of stray cats, like the rest of the island. But you only see them in the early morning and around 8ish at night. They aren't annoying. Quiet and timid. One came to the back porch at dinner every night because my kids would give it bits of leftover steak or chicken. So they had a pet for a week. Lol.

1st Time to Hawaii

We arrived very late and check in was easy. We brought printed copies of all of our communications which made things easy since cell service was hit and miss. Once on WiFi, we had no issues. My first impression was that the unit was set up almost exactly as the photos, with the exception that there is now tile floor throughout and the upholstery has been changed. However, the floor was so dirty that after about an hour of walking around, I had to wash my feet off before going to bed. Aside from the floor, the unit was clean. There are no plastic cups which would have been nice for the children and for taking drinks to the pool. They description says beach gear is provided but the only “gear” we located was some sand castle toys. We had family in another unit on site and borrowed their beach chairs during our stay. We left behind a few smaller beach accessories for the next guests to enjoy. The kitchen was well stocked but we did minimal food prep. We mainly utilized the refrigerator/freezer and washer and dryer. With three kids, the washer and dryer was a blessing. A few small touches would take the unit to a 5 star rating; matching hangers, removing the extra tile box from site, beach chairs and glass cleaner (glass tables require glass cleaner). Overall, it was a good experience. The location of the unit is great being on the first floor and close to the pool. The beach view is one that you have to walk out of the unit, off the patio and turn to get a glimpse of the ocean. ABC store and Times Grocery are close, as are Bob’s Snorkle and a shaved ice spot.

Perfect Family Vacation Spot!

Unit G103 at Papakea was fantastic! It has been updated since the current photos on this website - there is now tile throughout the condo that is easy to sweep up sand and keep clean. There's also updated furniture and painted walls. The kitchen was INCREDIBLY well stocked...everything from chip clips to scissors to crockpots to several sets of dishes and glasses (although no plastic cups, so if you're planning on bringing beverages to the pool area, pick up a sleeve or disposable plastic cups since you're not supposed to bring glass to the area.) The location could not have been better. We are a family of four - mom, dad, 2.5 year old and 5 month old. It was within easy walking distance to several restaurants, souveneir shops, two grocery stores, a playground, farmers market, and public beach that was perfect for our 2.5 year old to play in! We loved the ground floor unit so the kiddos we were staying with could play on the extensive and meticulously maintained lawn area. They loved the koi ponds and looking for frogs in the evening! The staff was super friendly. The unit was incredibly clean. The activities on site were a nice surprise too (yoga, tai chi, aqua-aerobics, lei making, mai tai social, etc.) We hope to come back and will definitely be staying in a ground floor unit again!

Everything in this unit was lovely. However, would be nice to have beach chairs, beach towels and/or umbrella. Otherwise, very clean and very comfortable bed and amenities. Quiet and lovely.
