About this property
Renovated train station on thoroughbred horse farm.
Welcome to Hutchison Station, our renovated 1890’s train depot. Explore the horse farms, Bourbon trail and central KY while staying on our working thoroughbred horse farm right in the heart of the bluegrass. Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890 and 1950 with passenger and freight service between Lexington and Paris. It was the center of the local community and included a post office, 2 blacksmith shops, general store and cattle pens. Hutchison station is divided into two ground floor apartments. The “Limerick” (named for Lisa’s event horse) has hardwood flooring throughout, 12’ ceilings and is furnished with local handcrafted and antique furniture. The Limerick has two en-suite bedrooms each with a king size bed. The living area includes counter seating for four plus table seating for four. Hutchison station is approx half way between Lexington and Paris- • 10 minutes to downtown Paris. • 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park • 20 minute to downtown Lexington. John-George and Sadie our miniature donkeys happily accept treats. Free wifi.

The photos do not do this property justice! Place was spotless! It is a beautifully renovated space. Well appointed, beds were comfortable. Plenty of blankets and fluffy towels. We appreciated the laundry. The property itself is very peaceful. Our favorite activity was feeding the very gentle donkeys. Communication was excellent and check in was a breeze. Would stay again and highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. Location is very convenient to the Kentucky Horse Farm, Claiborne Farm and downtown Lexington.
The most enjoyable experience was petting the horses.

We loved our stay and would definitely stay here again. The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed visiting the horses and donkeys. The house was comfortable and clean. Plus, the hosts are very welcoming and quick to answer questions. They even left a plate of chocolate chip cookies for our arrival.
For years, we have been coming here every April for a reason. The location, the horses and their foals out the front door, the beautiful restoration of the train station make this place a favorite to visit and enjoy.
What a wonderful place to stay!! The owners were *very* nice and quite personable and the property was clean, well stocked, and beautifully decorated. Additionally the beds and furniture were quite comfortable. We were visiting Paris to see some old friends and were able to host them for a lovely dinner (with local steaks on the grill). We also enjoyed visiting with the horses on the farm and "chatting" with the donkeys. We enjoyed the tour at Clairborne Farm as well as shopping for local antiques and artisan products in downtown Paris. Highly recommended!!
This place is wonderful! It’s our favorite Vrbo. Watching the horses with their foals from our front door and feeding carrots to the two donkeys. Very comfortable stay.We will be back for our 3rd time in the near future.
We've stayed here many times and it's always lovely. Always love walking the grounds to see the horses and the donkeys. Bring lots of treats for the donkeys - they will yell at you if you don't give them the proper attention.
We have stayed here several times and always love it. Steve and Lisa always make sure everything is perfect. It's so relaxing to watch the mares and foals in the paddock across the driveway at this time of year.
We absolutely loved our stay here! Upon our arrival, we met Steve and he was very welcoming. The renovated train station is beautiful and extremely clean and the rooms are very spacious. It was enjoyable going outside to give John George and Sadie some treats. They are both so sweet! We also loved seeing the mares and their foals out in the pasture. I would pick this beautiful country setting over a busy hotel!
Our stay was amazing. Loved being able to walk out the door and feed the donkeys and check out the horses. Beautiful property inside and out, easy location and wonderful hosts. We'll be back!
We really enjoyed it stay. The dwelling is beautiful, as well as the grounds. And, of course, the horses and the donkeys were such pleasure to see and feed a few carrots. Loved it.
Everything was great as always. We look forward to coming back again. We love staying here and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. It’s so beautiful and peaceful here. Thank you so very much.
We have stayed here several times now and every visit is perfect. The place is impeccably clean and maintained. Stephen and Lisa are wonderful hosts and watching the mares and foals across the street is an extra special bonus.
It was great to stay here for our second time. This is the only place we want to stay when we visit Kentucky. Thank you so much for another wonderful stay in Kentucky. We look forward to visiting again.
Always the best place to stay! We love this property. Will be booking again for next year for sure. 😊
