Almost everything you could need or want in a beautiful cottage, including a giant shoehorn for your walking boots. Views of wildlife and sunsets from the ultra-warm conservatory are wonderful. Several great walks from and to the front door and a bus stop nearby.
We stayed here last year and loved it so much we returned.
Such a well thought out property with everything you could need to make it comfortable, and all very high quality.
Would highly recommend this cottage and the lovely location. George is always very responsive to minor queries we have had. We’ll be back again!
The cottage is in a lovely location with an undisturbed view of the sea.
The owners have decorated the cottage to a very high standard and is equipped with everything you could possibly need....home from home.
The access lane to the cottage is single track and will probably set off your car sensors if you have them....mind did.
The parking space for the cottage is at the far end of the row of 6 cottages behind a chain, not directly outside the cottage. The new space is much bigger and easier to access.
Thank you George for allowing us to enjoy your cottage.
This is a beautifully presented property, with amazing sea views. Every was requirement catered for, and it was a good place to be during stormy weather.
We loved 4 Coastguard Cottages. Its perfect for a couple wanting a few days R&R. Beautifully furnished and clean, its a real home from home. The view across the south coast of the island is magnificent. We hope to return.
The view of the cottage from the outside doesn’t really do it justice. Its an interesting place, obviously with some history.
Access is via the narrow and un-made up Coastguards Lane and a car with front, side and back distance sensors will have a panic attack all the way up! You quickly get used to it, but a small car works best!
A very special place indeed. My husband and I enjoyed a four night stay at George’s cottage. Breathtaking views and walks around the home and lots of enjoyable things to do in the area. We particularly enjoyed mackerel fishing in Yarmouth. Thank you George, we hope to be back!
We stayed mid June when the weather was very hot & dry, the close proximity to the beach made our stay amazing. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The online pics of the view at the front really don't do it justice. The only pub with in walking distance (The Sun) is mediocre at best. Just one real draw back is the access lane which is little more than a dirt track & the parking space provided is not ideal. Probably OK in a smaller modern car but a bit of a challenge in my 60 year old Rover
This is a glorious place away from noise and pollution. The sea views are wonderful, fossil hunting and loads of other water activities at the beach across the road. The cottage is beautifully and thoughtfully laid out, with everything you could possibly need. My only reservation in writing a good review as other people might discover this little part of paradise. Owners were great and it’s easy to park and get in. Would highly recommend and we will be booking again soon.
You couldn’t find a better location, with out of this world views.
Everything was in the property that you would want.
I would highly recommend this property.
the property was all we'd hoped it would be - bright and clean with everything we needed ... and in a great location with downs behind and within easy walking distance of the beach....
4 Coastguards is a beautifully renovated cottage in a stunning location. The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a short stay. It’s situated on the quieter side of the island with lots of lovely walks right from the front door. George responded quickly to any queries we had and an added bonus was the lovely lady next door (Jo) who knew all about the history of the area and the cottages. We definitely plan to return!
.... it is such a gem that we hope it doesn't get so booked solid that we can't go again!
Nothing really to add to earlier glowing reviews - furnishing and maintenance of the highest standard; ease of booking and access arrangements couldn't be simpler; the location is really something. We had good weather, but thunderstorms over the sea at nightfall during the night were something else to behold.
It shouldn't need saying - but if you don't like a quiet life, stay away! And don't go if you have a very big car, though, for most, the arrangements will be perefctly ok.
Not much that hasn't already been said.
Very spacious and immaculately clean cottage overlooking the sea (Coastguard Cottage) with a stunning view.
Cottage had everything you need. I could quite happily live there. It looks like no expense has been spared.
The lane is narrow, but we had no parking problem as there is the off road space available for number 4. I'd just suggest that if you have the option of bringing a large or smaller car, think small to make things easier.
Location wise, there's the view and it's great for walkers. The Sun Inn was only a couple of minutes drive away. We had a good meal there, and the staff were very nice.
Regarding accessibility to the rest of the island, you'll find that all points are an easy, and generally pleasant, drive away, so don't worry about that.
Would 100% recommend.
We had a marvellous stay at the cottage. It was just as described and very comfortable for the two of us.
The conservatory overlooks the sea and coastline and the views are amazing. Even sitting in bed you can look out to sea!
The cottage is quiet although on windy days it does creak and bang a bit, which is hardly surprising.
The local pub is a few minutes drive, or a 30-40 minute walk across fields.
We had a minor problem one morning with a tripped fuse, but this was quickly rectified.
As previous people have mentioned, the lane is narrow but we never actually met anyone else on the short distance back to the main road. We also had no problem with the parking spot.
All in all, we would totally recommend.
Beautifully finished place in a stunning location.
We wanted a weekend break where we could forget the past 18 months and just relax - we found the perfect place here. The cottage is beautifully furnished with an appropriate maritime theme; I particularly liked the porthole bathroom mirrors :-) The cottage is well equipped and finished to a high standard. I really wanted to light the wood burner but, although the weather was somewhat wild, wet and windy the cottage was warm and cosy. The views from the conservatory out over the bay are spectacular and we spent a lovely evening sitting in the conservatory with a bottle of wine, playing cribbage and watching the sun go down.
If you're looking for somewhere for a cosy stay I would definitely recommend this cottage.
Excellent location for visiting the islands attractions. Cottage is just right for a short stay it has amazing views. Very well presented with attention to detail.
This coastguard’s cottage has been extremely thoughtfully and tastefully renovated to maximum effect. It’s extremely comfortable and contains everything you’d want for a relaxing holiday. Although it appears to be in the middle of nowhere (which suited us), nothing is far away on the Isle of Wight and most places can be accessed by car within half an hour. There are some lovely walks from the doorstep of the house and we took advantage of that. The weather was exceptionally hot when we we there and I would echo a previous review that a lightweight summer duvet would be welcome but, other than that, my experience is all positive. We definitely would and most likely will stay here again.
Wonderful views, owner pleasant and helpful. Comfortable furnishings, great views from the conservatory. Be warned if you have a big car when it states the lane is narrow is extremely narrow .
Very comfortable and spacious house in a lovely spot overlooking the sea. Bright modern conservatory meant we didn't feel shut in even when the weather was rubbish (as it was a lot!). V helpful owner resolved issues quickly. May return in the summer!
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage which fully lived up to our expectations and was just right for two people. The property has been renovated extremely well and offers an very comfortable stay in a fabulous location. We were blessed by good weather which showed the cottage at its very best and enabled us to take full advantage of the superb location. We will return.
Immaculately presented and cleaned, as it was on our previous visit. Everything provided as promised. Steep staircase might challenge those with mobility problems. No problems with communication. Great location, peaceful, a few minutes walk from beaches but with easy access to main road. Recommended!
