Childish, check in key withheld until dead on 1600. Kitchen had everything needed. Parking was a problem. Ended up parking up by the church A lot of free parking taken up with vehicles that dont and cant move. One dishwasher tablet left for three days. One toilet roll in each bathroom. Towels in two single bedroom leave a lot to be desired. Loved the rear court yard. The pond was delightful
We initially had a little hiccup which was sorted straight away by Ruth who was really helpful.
The cottage had everything we needed, it was lovely in a great location not far from Ventnor town an ideal base to explore the area such as Freshwater bay, Steephill cove.
From the moment we walked through the door we felt at home. The cottage looks tiny from the front but opens up as you go in and was the perfect size for the 4 of us. 3 adults, one child and one dog. The cottage itself was very well equipped and with a lovely patio area out the back. We loved the location opposite the pond and a short walk to the beautiful dog friendly, Monks Bay. We also walked up the steep steps to Bonchurch Inn. Worth a visit, set around a beautiful courtyard and serving lovely Italian food. I would highly recommend a stay here and would love to return.
This is a lovely cottage that formed a great base for our holiday. We loved Bonchurch and the children enjoyed Ventor beach as well as nearby Shanklin. Just a couple of things to be aware of: there's no off road parking. This was fine for us, as we always found parking nearby. The cottage also has a washing machine, but as the weather wasn't great when we stayed, we really struggled to get anything to dry!
Lovely cottage set in a picturesque area. We all loved it.

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
We stayed in this property for 3 nights. A nice area close walk to a beautiful beach and historic church. The property itself has lots of cobwebs everywhere. The shower cubicle is very small and very much in need of new clean seals as they are very dirty! There is a note in the kitchen recommending to use the water jug but the jug was half full with green slimy water, no way we could use it. On leaving, we stripped our beds as we always do out of courtesy… only to find that our bed ( main bedroom) has a mattress that is filthy!! Had we known it was in such a filthy state we wouldn’t have stayed here!!For this reason we absolutely do not recommend this property! Disgusting!
From the outside it looks small and it opens up into such a beautiful space. Great fun being by the pond and an easy walk into town. Would highly recommend the pottery at Bonchurch, there are some great examples in the house also!
Very comfortable accommodations for our party of 4 adults. Our only complaint was that the shower is very small and cramped if you are an adult, but we did appreciate having an enclosed shower. Enjoyed the location, within walking distance of Ventnor's shops and quite excellent restaurants. Ruth was helpful and very easy to work with. Would stay again if we return to the Isle of Wight!
Cottage had everything you could need - kitchen was really well stocked beyond the basics, comfortable rooms throughout, good WiFi, really clean and everything was easy to use.
The location is idyllic and a perfect base - the short walk to Ventnor, Monks Bay 5/10 mins walk away and the Bonchurch Inn meant that if you wanted a day without driving you could still get out and about. The pond opposite really added to the stay and interest with lots of wildlife visiting. All in all a fabulous place, would highly recommend.
The property was as advertised and was extremely well cleaned, bright and spacious for the 4 of us and our cat! Communication with Rita was really good and reassuring. In all, we enjoyed all aspects of the cottage and would recommend it to friends and family.
From the outset, this property appealed. Its location opposite Bonchurch Pond with its terrapins, heron, ducks and carp suggested it might be rather busy, but in mid-June, we had no problem with road noise at all. Parking was fine, though we did have to move the car away from the cottage between 9 am and 5 pm. As we were usually out or there was space further down the same road, this didn't present a problem. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed inside and out, was very clean and there were some lovely touches including a bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate. We would highly recommend Grebe Cottage and fully intend to return ourselves sometime!
We had a very nice stay at this lovely cottage. Bonchurch is a beautiful village and a good starting point for hikes, walks to the beach or other trips. The only thing we missed as a family was a garden to relax or let the kids play. However, we used our time then for great trips instead.
