This house was clean, very comfortable and close to beaches . The host was very responsive and accessible to communications. I’d highly recommended this site as a family vacation spot.
The location is ideal and the deck is spacious and in excellent condition.
We forgot a kindle when we left and Nick sent it to us without charging anything.
Pictures did not do justice to how lovely this home was! Stayed here with friends for a short weekend getaway and it was perfect. The space is well appointed with all the amenities you need. It is walking distance to a lovely beach and a short drive to the local vineyards. Great for an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Would definitely stay here again.
The property was perfect! It was exactly as described. I booked this stay for me and my adult children. We BBQ'd, sat outside on the couches in the sun, went down the road a bit to the private beach to watch a sunset. We enjoyed Orient State Park. Tuesday evening for Music and food. We drove to the Greenport Brewery and had a wine tasting at Pindar. Absolutely no complaints. I would book it again!
My son flew in from Denver for a long-weekend getaway with me. Picked him up from LGA and drove right out. The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable with lots of lovely outdoor space which was a real treat since I live in the city. We have gone fishing over the years and it turns out that the boat was less than a five minute drive from the house (we caught 8 large stripers in two days) and there are wonderful restaurants and other nice towns like Jamesport within a 15 minute drive. We had everything we needed to prepare delicious dinners (all that fish and I'm a good cook)! There are also wonderful restaurants in the area. Another amazing perk is the proximity (walking distance) to a lovely private beach. Host was very easily reachable and easy to work with. Highly recommend!! Totally relaxing mini-vacation which took us 2 1/2 hours by car. I felt like I was really away.
Came here with my friends and had the *perfect* time! First off, the house is impeccably clean. You can tell that Gerasimos is 100% on top of that. The location is also great. Quiet neighborhood, access to a private beach just a few minutes walk away, Greenport is a 10-15 minute drive away, and the entire North Fork Wine Trail is between 15 and 30 minutes away (depending on which of the countless wineries you choose to go to)! Gerasimos himself is very communicative and was able to promptly answer any questions we had. The house is perfect for a getaway, especially in the warmer months with its huge deck in the backyard. We barbecued and spent hours outside. Would 150% come back again!
The Good:
Comfy, cozy super-clean property. Gorgeous deck, backyard and outdoor shower
The Bad:
Weekly renters aren't permitted to use washer/dryer and beach towels were not provided. Additionally, we were given a total of 8 bath towels for 4 people. We went to the beach every day and this meant we needed to re-use towels multiple times. Owner offered to come to the house to exchange dirty towels for clean ones, or to go to the laundromat (15 minute drive away).
The Ugly:
Misrepresentation of beaches:
1. Private beach isn't actually accessible. I was told that if neighbors asked what we were doing there, to tell them that "I am staying with friends" (verbatim).
2. The listing claims Orient beach is a short walk away. This is true in that it is a short walk to the entrance, but a 2 mile drive to the actual beach.

Response from VrboOwner on 22 October 2020
Dear Masai,
It's a shame that you seem to have been unhappy with your trip, and instead of letting us know what isssues you may have had, you decided to write a disparaging review with many items that are just not true. Especially since during our conversations many things were made clear and we answered all your questions about our listing. We even offered you 2 hours earlier check in at no charge at your request. The night of your check in your messaged me saying "The place is great— so clean! " Somehow, within hours, you decided that you did not like our place, but made no effort to message us any complaints throughout your entire stay.
1. You rented this home knowing that there is no washer/dryer available for guests. It says it clearly in our listing. The first day you checked in you messaged me asking where the washer and dryer were and I informed you that there is no washer/dryer available for your stay. I sent you a copy of the listing, and you claimed that you did not notice the lack of a washer/dryer, but acknowledged that it was there. This is in stark contract to your comments here.
2. Nowhere in our listing does it say beach towels are provided. We specifically, in our house rules, say that bath towels are not to be used as beach towels. This is not an uncommon request. People do not use bath towels as beach towels. So for you to come and present it as you were unprepared is another lie on your part since the listing never mentioned that beach towels will be provided.
3. You were given 16, towels for 4 guests. We did offer to exchange towels as needed. These messages are all saved on VRBO. You specifically did not take us up on that offer. Nowhere did you ever reach out and ask for more towels. In fact, in your message to me you specifically said "I appreciate your offer to bring more towels if we should need them- I have very long hair and always need to use two towels per shower!" Now, please understand, we are not a commercial hotel. We do not have 50 towels to give to a group of 4 adults for a short stay. We did offer to bring you black clean ones and pickup your dirty ones, but you never requested that. So again, another false statement on your review.
4. Misrepresentation of beaches? You say the private beach is not accessible but the morning after your check in, at 10:19am you asked us where the beach is located. You then stayed in the home another 6 days and not once did you mention you had an issue accesing the beach. In fact, there is no way you were unable to access the beach as there is no doorway, or check in point. It is an open beach with no gate or door for entry. Once again, your statement about if neighbors asked what you were doing there is a blatant lie. This is not what we said. What I said to you as is still in our VRBO message inbox is "ou don't need any identification or any of that there is no guard to control access. occasionally somebody from the neighborhood association may be there and ask where you are from ". Unfortunately, Masai, this is our home, and our neighbors homes, and while you may be uncomfortable if someone from the neighborhood asks you if you're allowed to be at the beach, it is not your private property and they have the right to make sure you are not trespassing. Not one guest in the past has ever had an issue having to let a neighbor know that they are staying with us and that they are allowed at the beach. Its a shame that you believe that you rented a home and believe that the neighborhood has no right to ask you where you are from on a shared private beach. The listing specifically says "rights to a private beach". Your sense of entitlement here is a bit disturbing. We have never had guests with such disdain for interacting with a neighbor for a brief couple seconds.
5. If you look at google maps, Orient State Park is a 0.5 mile walk or 10 minute walk to the Park, per Google Maps. I am sorry if you believe that this isn't the case but we can not control what Google puts for time. I can assure you I've done the walk in 5 minutes before, but I am a brisk walker. Now, as for what is in the beach, and how big the beach is, once again, we do not own New York State, nor do we own New York State Parks. Orient State Park is a very large park that spans many miles. I am sorry if you are unhappy with how large the park is, but this was never misrepresented to you. In the age of internet being everywhere and everyone having smart phones, I find it hard to believe that you would not research the location first if you were going to complain that walking to local parks and beaches would be too far for you, however, once again this is a blatant lie.
I am disturbed that you would come on here and contradict your own messages to us during your stay. It seems, and I hope this isnt the case, that when we brought up the broken dinnerware and missing steak knives to you, you went and wrote us a very disparaging and factually not true review. We don't nickle and dime our guests, and an honest mistake of breaking something we can live with, but to put a review such as this which is absolutely false in every aspect and statement you have made in retribution for us bringing up the knives and dinnerware missing is very unprofessional and generally just not very kind. Your demeanor towards our neighbors and our home and the general mistreatment and how you left the house, plus the sense of entitlement to not have to answer to a neighbor who is checking to make sure you have the right to be in the private beach, is very scary. This kind of nose in the air demeanor is not expected or appreciated in our neighborhood. This is a very family friendly and quiet destination, where all neighbors are friends and talk/look out for each other on a daily basis. Our parks and beaches are reviewed extremely positively by not only our previous guests but also by travel magazines. If you are unhappy with the area you chose to spend some time I am sorry for that, but that is not in our control. Our listing is transparent of our location, our home, and what we offer.
To our future guests, as you can see from our previous reviews going back many years, All of Masai's statements contradict our listing and our previous guests experiences. Sometimes, life hands us bad apples. We assure you that everything in our listing is clearly transparent and urge you that if you have any questions or concerns at all, please don't hesitate to introduce yourselves and ask us prior to initiating a booking. VRBO is aware of the many issues we have had with this guest (missing silverare, broken dinnerware, an extremely messy home, trash not even thrown in bags just straight into the garbage cans even though we provide bags, etc) and they are in process of taking care of it.
This was a great stay overall! The property was beautiful, the host was nice to communicate with and the house was clean however, be sure to read the full description of the listing. When booked, the listing advertised 6 beds that could sleep 8 and this didn't seem to be the case. There were two bedrooms each with one queen/full sized bed and then a bunk bed in the third bedroom for a total of 4 beds. Two of our coworkers had to share a bunk bed which was less than ideal. We assumed based on the listing that there would be two other adult-appropriate beds either in the form of a fold out couch or an extra bed in one of the bed rooms but there wasn't. That is probably on us for not reading more carefully but the listing did advertise 6 beds so just make sure this will cover your needs. The host did leave out towels but we would recommend bringing your own just in case as there weren't any extra to spare (and no washer/dryer to clean dirty towels).
**The following is just general information/advice for those looking and is in no way a fault of the host or their listing. If you're staying here for it's proximity to Shelter Island be sure to be mindful of the ferry times. If you are having a late night on Shelter Island the North ferry closes earlier than the South ferry. If you get stuck taking the South ferry (as we did) you then have a 2 hour drive all the way back around to get to this location. Again, overall a great place to visit/stay for the surrounding area. It was our first time to this area and we missed some of the fine details but those things can really make a difference when it comes to your overall experience.
The house was just what we needed for a weekend getaway! The location is so quiet and close to a beautiful private beach. I would highly recommend this place.
We experienced prompt and accurate communication with the property host. The house and property were clean and neat. Good size, cozy house for our family of five. Easy access to Shelter Island Ferry, beach, downtown Greenport, Orient Point State Park, and vineyards. The back deck, patio, and lawn area of this property are perfect for entertaining--spacious and lots of seating—picnic table with umbrellas can accommodate a large party for sit down dinner. Kids had lots of space to kick a soccer ball and the neighborhood is perfect for walks and jogs. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would recommend!
A charming home in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk from a scenic beach on the Sound. A peaceful and refreshing country getaway on the North Fork. Perfect for a family with kids. Everything went smoothly during our stay.
My husband and two 20-something kids had a wonderful time at Gerasimos's attractive, comfortable house in a peaceful residential neighborhood with beautiful houses along quiet streets.
The landscaping and back deck are fabulous! We spent lots of time out there grilling, eating, relaxing, day and night. Great for both sunning and cooling off in the shade.
Comfortable beds, excellent kitchen. My only quibbles are that when we arrived, there was food stuck to multiple pieces of silverware in the drawers and the air conditioners and bedroom ceiling fan were way too loud. Also, the small community beach nearby is dangerously rocky, so it was not good for swimming. Nearby sprawling Orient Beach Park is better, but still rocky.

Almost perfect!
We used the house as an annex for our family reunion in the neighborhood. Great location, friendly hosts, comfortably sleeps six (more would be a stretch with just one bathroom). The washer/dryer weren’t available during our stay, which is the only reason this is a 4-star review instead of 5. Would love to come back when the weather is warmer and we could also enjoy the outdoor patios!

Great house - five stars!
This is a nice, clean house with great outdoor space in a very quiet section of the North Fork. The owner and his father made renting this house a very easy experience, despite me only reaching out the night before to see if it was available for the weekend. The private beach is a block away, though like most beaches on the sound it is a bit rocky. You are a 10 minute drive away to Greenport and there was no traffic to speak of the weekend in July I was at the house. The backyard is great, with three distinct seating areas, and the landscaping is very nice. This is a great house for a relaxing vacation away from the city.

Super Cute and cozy!
We stayed in this house with 2 adult couples, arriving Saturday evening and departing Thursday morning. We were greeted by Nick (Jerry's dad) who was very nice and informative. The house was of adequate size and well stocked (bring a blender if you need one). The outdoor living space was the kicker for us. The yard is beautifully landscaped, private and the deck is large and well maintained. There is an outdoor shower, which we used frequently and many seating areas to enjoy. We brought our own rope lights for added ambiance at night. The entertainment situation was good as well, there was a smart TV so we could stream all of our shows and an Xbox 360 although there was no internet adapter connected to that (local play only). The Wifi worked very well with no outages or connective issues.
The short walk though a well maintained neighborhood takes you to a private beach which was clean with beautiful views. Also the ferry area and Orient Point park were worth the $10.00 entry fee. Overall Orient Point was a beautiful area that was quiet and "away from it all" but still a short 8 mile drive from Greenport which was very cute although a little bustling on the weekend. I would recommend this rental to anyone visiting Orient we had a wonderful time!

Nice property, great area.
Nick and Gerry are very nice and easy to work with. Nick greeted us when we arrived and showed us all we needed to know. Gerry checked in to see how things were going and if we needed anything. That was nice and caring. I/we had a great and relaxing time bonding with my father and son. Everything you could want is just a short drive away. Due to the season, just not beach weather, we couldn't take advantage of the private beach but we did see it and spend a few minutes there. Would be perfect for anyone who likes the beach and privacy. Would be equally beautiful in all seasons. Good time.

Fantastic Place!
My family of 5 stayed in this cozy home and we totally enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were clean, simple and perfect as we spent each day riding our bikes, sitting on the beach and enjoying the surrounding area. My kids loved riding their bikes around the neighborhood spotting deer and enjoying the quiet streets. The owner Nick treated us like family and we would totally go back!
