The last slice of Ginger Cake Acres


Our mountain log cabin hideaway is nestled among a giant
rhododendron thicket in beautiful Ginger cake Acres. This
luxurious A-frame log cabin provides a private rustic experience
with elegant charm. Ours was the last cabin built by the original
developer, thus the name "The Last Slice". This casual friendly
mountain community is in the midst of all the attractions of the
Blue Ridge Parkway and North Carolina Mountains.
The 4000 foot altitude ensures spectacular fall colors, beautiful
spring wild flowers, cool breezes throughout the summer and a cozy
fireplace to warm you through the winter.
If you want to feel totally private and isolated just stay on the
large deck surrounded by the woods or in the great room with it's
lofted ceiling and wall of glass.
The cabin offers two bedrooms with full beds, a full bath, laundry,
and large great room with fireplace and fully equipped kitchen all
on the main floor. We also offer a landline with free long distance
as well as DirectTV on our 54in. Samsung Smart TV in the great room.
Upstairs there is a large loft bedroom with 2 queen beds as well as a tv with DirectTV.
We are just minutes from Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls,
Linville Gorge and Linville Caverns.
Nearby mountain communities such as Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Beech
Mountain, Valle Crusis and Boone offer a wide variety of food, shopping
and numerous festivals. Five Golf Courses and Four Ski Resorts within
twenty minutes offer downhill skiing, tubing, sledding, snowboarding
and ice skating.Gingercake offers miles of pathways and winding
roads for walking and biking.

The host was awesome and the cabin was just what we were looking for. We hiked trails until we were give out and the best ones were very close to the cabin. We hope to make it back in the spring and will stay here again if the cabin is available when we can come again!!!!

Great spot in the woods

Relaxing mornings waking up, making coffee, sitting on the porch and listening to the birds. Fire pit was a great place to tell jokes and hang out. And the hikes nearby were all amazing. Everything we needed out a cabin

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin has great potential, however the bathroom downstairs needs to be updated. I will say, there’s great water pressure in the shower. The kitchen lights didn’t work over the sink. Would I stay there again? Yes I would.

It was a great location, with a lot of space. The linens did not seem fresh, towels were not in any restrooms (we had to search and find them in the laundry room). It was a great space, just needs to be cleaned/managed better to justify cost.

Absolutely perfect!!!

Just book this if you are visiting the area. It's nice and secluded but so close to all the attractions such as grandfather mountain, blowing rock, linville caverns and linville falls. This cabin is well maintained and does have Wi-Fi as there is no cell service you can use Wi-Fi calling or a home phone is provided. Victoria was super nice. Can't ask for a better cabin for the size, amenities, and the price. We have already decided that for future trips we will be coming here.

Felt like visiting family..

Enjoyed the stay, very comfortable. Everything that you might need was in the place. The only issue was the main TV downstairs has a sound bar that could not be turned down, no matter what we did. The mute buttom on the remotes did not work.

Home away from home

Another perfect stay... this place is perfect to unplug from electronics, feel cozy and enjoy the mnts.. we have rented this cabin at least 5 times now , that should speak volumes... the owners have become second family.. i wish i lived closer ,bc id truly just love to live close to this spot in the woods.. our puppers also love this house. The owners are fine us bringing 2 large trained dogs ,they are our people.. I've already rented another 10 day stay, and will have a few more throughout the yr.. only complaint i have , is I HATE TO LEAVE!!,

Beautiful, peaceful and lovely setting

We kept marveling about the lush plants around this cabin. The first several days were sunny and pleasant and we spent the days on the deck. The cabin itself has dark wood paneling and leans toward having to leave lights on just to see where you’re walking. Furnishings are somewhat antique like the old sewing machine cabinet serves as a lamp table! Heat works extremely well as does hot water. We were very satisfied with the Jonas Ridge cabin

Our Linville trip

WR very much enjoyed our stay at "the last slice" cabin in Newland, NC. We booked from a Thursday to Monday, and even though it rained the first day, we were comfortable and cozy. There were board games to play and movies to watch, so we weren't bored. The beds were comfortable and the loft was great for the kids, 13, 11, 10. There's direct TV so we were able to watch some football on Sunday which was great! We cooked alot and the kitchen had all the dishes we needed. We also enjoyed the grill and large deck. Somehow we got a fire going in the firepit after the rain cleared. There were a few dry logs covered for us to use. All in all a great trip, quiet spot in a great neighborhood! We will be back!

Good cabin in the woods

My family and I had a good time at the cabin. The driveway is hard to find in the dark, GPS was no help. We had a lot of space to sleep for us all on the comfy beds. The kids had fun playing outside and relaxing in the hammocks. Loved the gas fireplace and wood throughout. The downside our family noticed is a lot of spiderwebs everywhere, along with a large spider we had to get out. We would recomend getting an outdoor heater for the porch/deck. Also a large nonstick pan would be appreciated. The service there is awful, our cellphone service on 5 different phones would not work at the cabin. (We could not get the tv to work with all the remotes and could not call or text the owners due to lack of service.) We would stay again, but bring raid and plan on having no cellphone service. :)

Hosts were responsive before our stay and gave us some suggestions to check out in the area. We did not contact the hosts during our stay because our issues were not anything that needed immediate attention. The location wasn’t bad. We knew we’d have to drive to where we wanted to go. Did not use the outdoor space as we were in different locations during our stay, but will note that we were told there was plenty of firewood around. I am assuming this means we would have to go hunt for our firewood, but upon walking around the property, everything was damp and there was no wood available. It is also noted that this is a no smoking facility, but on the back deck, there were cigarette butts laying on the railing. There is an overwhelming smell of must/mold that was a very hard to get used to. Our allergies were. Thankfully, we only use the cabin to sleep and shower in. When it comes to cleanliness, I would definitely hire a different cleaning crew. Dust buildup was very bad. Coffee pot was dirty and had to be cleaned. Food stuck on front as well.The refrigerator was also full of other people’s food/condiment/etc and not clean. The downstairs bathroom cabinet had used deodorant, etc. Because of these issues we went into town and bough our own paper products I did not choose to cook or use any of the pots, pans, plates, utensils in the cabin. We did sleep well and the shower had nice hot water pressure but would focus on cleanliness less clutter. Bathroom needs a fan.
