About this property

Log Cabin Getaway on Big Brasstown Creek

Currently known as "Log Cabin Getaway on Big Brasstown Creek", we invite you to our lovely abode and strive to offer you a WELCOME MAT RECEPTION previously offered by the former owners.

Come to the North Western Carolina mountains and enjoy our log cabin located on 2.57 acres along Big Brasstown Creek. Wake up or fall asleep to rushing water heard outside the bedroom windows. Relax on one of two covered porches with your loved ones while listening to the sounds of the creek with approximately 700 feet of frontage. Explore the surrounding area of Murphy, Brasstown and Hayesville, all within close reach by car or bicycle.

Big Brasstown Creek runs into the Hiawassee River within 2 miles of the cabin. There is a parking area off new Highway 64 where bank fishing or tubing is possible or enjoy fishing & tubing right outside the cabin. Within 30 minutes of the cabin are horseback riding, ziplining, or the Blue Ridge train ride venues. In the fall, drink in the beautiful color that can be found throughout the area's many different driving routes. In the springtime, the abundant Mountain Laurel makes for a beautiful addition to the creek foliage.

The cabin is 2.1 miles from the nationally known John C. Campbell Folk School where several guests have taken classes and returned to take more. While not in class, guests enjoy the several walking trails on the school property as well as strolling through the craft shop that holds many interesting items made by local artists and students. If you are looking for entertainment, enjoy the many concerts offered at the school or in the nearby towns as well as the seasonal festivals, farmers' markets, and more.

Eateries abound in Murphy, Hayesville and Hiawassee. Of particular interest are the Chop House in Murphy & Hiawassee and Doyle's Cedar Hill in Murphy. Information on these and other restaurants can be found in the cabin book.

If you prefer to "dine in", you can prepare your meal in the full kitchen, use the outdoor grill or build a fire in one of two fire pits located on the property and enjoy your meal at the dining table, outside on the porch or on the picnic table. After dinner, lounge on the overstuffed couch and "bear" chairs or watch the sunset from the porch rocking chairs. If you're up for some activity, enjoy the combo pool/ping pong table in the game room, play one of the many box games available to you, put together a picture puzzle, watch TV or use your laptop, tablet or iPad.

The cabin will accommodate 3 couples or singles, each with their own bedroom and bath, one on the main floor, one upstairs and one in the basement game room. The loft contains a twin size/twin trundle day bed that offers an open view down to the livingroom and stacked rock fireplace.

The Master Bedroom on the main level and the Guest Bedroom on the upper level both have king size metal framed beds, feather pillows and views of the creek.

The livingroom has a 42" Satellite TV and the game room has a 32" TV for gaming or DVD, DSL, WiFi access. The indoor dining area seats 6 and the outdoor porch dining table seats 4.

Instant quote has correct reservation pricing with fees and taxes. A minimum 3-day reservation is requested as well as a MINIMUM 2-week advance notice in order to prepare the cabin for your arrival and process all payments and paperwork. A resident of Atlanta for 40+ years, the mountains of North Carolina have allured me to them for the past 10+ years. I purchased 10 acres in the Fires Creek area of Hayesville and, after selling that property, helped build a house with friends in the same area. After making a decision to renew the search for my own "dream" mountain home, I happened on 83 Beaver Run quite by chance and knew, from the moment I entered the house, that this was where I was meant to be. I fell in love with the creek and the house immediately. Since another of my dreams has been to have a "Bed and Breakfast", I was determined to continue the vacation rental arrangement established by the previous owners. While I plan on spending a considerable amount of time at Beaver Run myself, I do look forward to meeting many of those who have returned to the cabin year after year and to offer them the same hospitality that was shown them by the previous owners. Kudos to them for creating such a welcoming setting for guests.

Why they chose this property

I have looked for a place that was near the John C. Campbell Folk School since I started coming up to North Carolina 10+ years ago. I enjoy taking classes there and have taught a course myself at the school which was alot of fun. I have also wanted to be close to Murphy with its small town feel and interesting buildings and businesses. 83 Beaver Run is the perfect location for both seeking solitude and for seeking involvement. Not to mention the mesmerizing effects of the water and the wonder of seeing ducks floating effortlessly down the creek.

What makes this property unique

The cabin offers easy, level, creek access. Even though I don't fish myself, the setting offers wonderful opportunities for those who do while also offering a refuge for wildlife. The setting of the house provides a much welcomed sense of peace and quiet while being within close proximity to Murphy, Asheville, Hayesville, Hiawassee, Atlanta, etc..
