Completely renovated 1910 two-story Montford home (historic district) with lots of natural light and two covered porches. Just one block from Montford Park and 5 blocks from downtown. Stroll along the Greenway or walk to UNC-A, Botanical Garden, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods. The Biltmore Estate is only a few miles away. Asheville is known as Beer City, and there are numerous breweries in downtown.

Vaulted ceilings with industrial exposed metal ductwork and exposed oak beams. Modern loft living very close to downtown! Viking appliances and granite countertops in the large, open, fully equipped kitchen. Travertine tile walk-in shower, and Duravit soaking tub in the master bedroom.

The master bedroom has a Four-Post queen bed with down comforter and feather topper/luxury sheets. Washer/Dryer Stackable. Living area and master bedroom televisions.

The River Arts District, great music at The Orange Peel or Grey Eagler, incredible restaurants, and a stroll in the historic district are among those things you won't want to miss.

This property should not be listed with its current representation.

We have communicated with the property owner, to let her know that the property doesn’t explain that there is a tenant you share with. The photos lead one to believe that the laundry room is part of the unit. It is not. You have to leave the unit, and walk down the steps, over unstable rocks, to get to a shared laundry room. The property had cobwebs inside and out. The owner even had someone come by (for two hours) to clean the interior. This is documented in her text messages, and communicated to VRBO. The condition of the windows is horrible. They haven’t been cleaned in a very long time, and the appearance reflects that, including cobwebs on the windows. This is just the beginning of what we would share. All has been documented with photos, and the text exchanges with the owner. VRBO chose to do absolutely nothing about it.

My property is represented clearly. The downstairs studio is completely separate from the main house. It has its own entry, private porch, and no access to the main house. I completely renovated my home in 2008. Beautiful and original hardwood floors. New Viking appliances. Two televisions. Amazing porch. Quaint historic district. There is a laundry chute to the laundry area. When Stephen complained about cobwebs, I asked my handyman to bring his sixteen foot ladder to clean everything. That still did not satisfy him. Then, he claimed that the closet light bulbs were burned out. Again, I sent my handyman out to address it. Stephen was not flipping the correct switch—he said “mystery solved.” Yes, right, at my expense. He chronically complained about everything. I have 40 double hung windows in my home. I clean them once a year. I have air conditioning with no need to open windows in the summer. Unfortunately, there was no way to please this guest. He was demanding and rude. My home is a quaint and charming renovated home in the historic district. Stephen should have rented a room at a five star hotel—perhaps the Grove Park Inn for $500 per night. Perhaps, then, he would have been satisfied. VRBO did nothing about it because his demands were unreasonable. After 10 years of welcoming guests into my home, this is my first complaint. My home is not perfect, but it is quaint, comfortable, updated. And in a great location. Stephen simply didn’t appreciate it. I will not make the mistake of inviting him to be a guest at my home again.

Quiet, cozy, peaceful place to stay with everything you need

I highly recommend staying at Laurie's place if you are looking for a nice, clean, comfortable home to accommodate you while in Asheville. It is in an absolutely beautiful (and very safe) location with quick access to a greenway that runs along a creek. We walked the greenway every day and used it to walk to the nearby botanical garden as often as we could. The home is comfortable and clean. It's a unique house as it is a historic home yet it has been beautifully updated with a modern touch. The best part for me was that it is located at the end of a quiet street, but you have easy access to any activities you may want to do! I really enjoyed the bath tub and the large porch. Great spots to read. There are TVs in both the living room and bedroom that give you access to too many channels to count (which is nice compared to typically only having streaming services available in a lot of other rentals). The kitchen is stocked extensively with anything you would need (spices, herbs, pots, pans, utensils, toaster, citrus juicer). We enjoyed cooking our dinner each night on the very efficient gas stove. The furnishings are classy and antique which gives a comfortable feeling to the home. Laurie, the host, is an extremely kind and caring woman who we truly enjoyed meeting and talking with. She is sure to answer any questions or concerns you may have in a timely manner and she is more than accommodating for whatever you may need. If you're planning to visit Asheville, stay here! :)

Close & comfortable

Stayed for 6 weeks, had everything I needed to “live” comfortably. Loved the ability to walk through the neighborhoods & proximity to downtown Asheville. Laurie was an excellent host.

Your own treehouse in historic Montford

We really enjoyed our stay at Laurie's house! It is in a great location with access to a greenway perfect for walks, convenient to grocery stores, and easy to get into downtown or on the interstate to go on hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a friendly and eclectic neighborhood, filled with beautiful historic homes and has a nice little park. In our month and a half stay, we took advantage of the great porch and the excellent kitchen (for those who like to cook). The kitchen was well-stocked with high-end appliances and the rest of the house had the basic necessities. We thought the bed was very comfortable. As remote workers, we found it easy to work from home, with good internet access. Laurie was very responsive before and during our stay, and provided us with a lot of good insight. We hope to stay there again someday!

Wonderful sunlight perch among the trees

I absolutely loved my stay at Laurie‘s property. She was such a pleasure to deal with and the place was in a wonderful section of Asheville – lots of historical houses within walking distance of grocery stores and downtown, which was great for me because I did not have a car. It’s also very close to the greenway along a lovely creek and close to the botanical gardens. The house itself was full of sunlight and beautifully equipped with everything I needed. The bed was just the right level of firmness and the television system was easy to manage, even for a technological idiot like myself. It was the perfect place to be alone and yet not feel too isolated, since walkers stroll past frequently. There is a big back porch where I would’ve happily spent more time but the weather was not quite warm enough until the very end of my stay, so there’s plenty of room for socializing as well. I spent two months there and would’ve happily spent a third. It suited me perfectly! Highly recommended— I would come back in a heartbeat.

I moved to Asheville in search of a home that I could make my own. I gutted the existing home (in the historic district) all the way down to the 2 x 4's. The forty double hung windows are original--I brought them back to life. I created an open loft-like space with high ceilings and a beautiful kitchen. Original hardwood floors add to the character. The porch is like another room in the house. All new electrical, plumbing, heating/air, etc. Lots of off-street parking (which is in high demand in Montford!

Why they chose this property

Even though you are very close to downtown, the home is tucked away on a side street off of Montford and Cumberland Avenues. The neighbors on the street are fantastic, and they will make you feel right at home. Lots of walkers/runners in the neighborhood! Great restaurants within a few minutes' walking distance. Fantastic location!
