About this property

A classic Maine family home

Classic Maine home with electric vehicle charger. It is located close to three sandy beaches ( Higgins, Scarborough State Park and Ferry). A Maine lobsterman sells locally caught seafood just a minute from the house or enjoy fine dining overlooking the ocean at nearby Black Point Inn. Also close is Eastern Trails and Camp Ketcha offering opportunities for great mountain biking and hiking or kayak the Scarborough Marsh from the Audubon Center. Enjoy lunch and shopping in Portland which is both a mix of quintessential seaside town and eclectic modern flair. For the kids and kids at heart on Route 1 is Funtown Amusement Park, Aquaboggin Water Park and yes even a drive-in movie theatre. Thirty minutes to the south are the ocean side villages of Wells, Kennebunkport, and Ogunquit. Thirty minutes to the north is Freeport (home of LL Bean)and many outlet stores. At the end of the day spend the evening gathered round in a large natural hickory and pine kitchen with professional chefs range and oven or outside by a fire on an open stone patio. Our home is fully equipped with all kitchen essentials, bedding, towels, beach towels, chairs and sand toys. All the comforts of home. 2 queen size beds,2 single size, a single folding bed and a pack&play.

This property is every bit as good as it looks! It has everything you need for a comfortable and fun stay. Great for families; the playroom with games and toys, a well stocked kitchen, beach chairs and toys in the garage, and plenty of beds! What a beautiful and welcoming home. The place had everything! Beach supplies, wonderful patio with a grill, an amazing kitchen, awesome beds and everything you could ask for. Plus it was so cute and just iconic Maine. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful stay! House is just as described and shown. It has everything you could possibly need for your stay and so many extras - paper products, beach supplies, yard games, and more! The owners really have gone above and beyond. And so much to see and do within a 15 minute drive - hiking, biking, beaches, waterpark, lighthouses, lobster and lobster rolls. Highly recommend.

A May Stay in Maine

The house is loaded with charm and everything you could possibly need. I've never stayed anywhere with so many towels, many rentals I had to run to Costco to buy more! The kitchen was also well stocked. The location is very convenient to many things to do and easy to drive into Portland and grocery stores nearby. The owner was very easy to contact with any questions we had too. I would absolutely stay here again.

Well-appointed, comfortable home

I stayed here with 3 friends for a short getaway. It's a beautiful home with everything you need. It is located in a lovely area near salt marshes, just 2 miles from a nice beach, and 15-20 minutes from everything you want to do in the Portland area. The large backyard has a firepit and nice patio for relaxing. We loved it!

Couldn't be happier!

This property and its owner couldn't have been better. The house is perfect for a family and I have never had a house that was as well-stocked with everything we could imagine. This house had it all. The location was perfect for visits to several beaches, Portland and its iconic Old Port, Portland Headlight and a trip on a lobster fishing boat for the young ones. And, any correspondence I had with the owner was answered quickly.

Our Stay in Scarborough

My family and I had a wonderful stay in Scarborough. The home is lovely, with really thoughtful amenities - the home had everything we needed. The kitchen was fun to cook in and the grill and firepit were both easy to use. There was plenty of safe space for my kids to run around outside, as well as toys to play with in the downstairs playroom. My parents as well as my husband and I had plenty of space to relax together; the garden is lovely and it was fun to watch the variety of birds which come to the feeders. The home had a great collection of old books on or about Maine, which we enjoyed reading. The house is very close to several beaches and attractions (Portland, the Cape Elizabeth, several beaches, and OOB, etc to the south) so it was a great home base from which to explore Southern Maine. There were also some really good restaurants within a 5 minute drive for us to get take out including a Bite into Maine! Mary was a great host and very responsive - This was a great trip. Thank you!

Charming Maine Home

As soon as we arrived with our daughter and her boyfriend, this house felt like home. The kitchen was the perfect gathering place with a large table for meals, games and afternoon cups of tea. The living rooms and bedrooms were comfy and cozy. The backyard was wonderful, although we were out the door to Scarborough Beach State Park every morning...what a gem and only a few minutes drive down the road. The beach towels, chairs and umbrellas at hand were just a few of the thoughtful items available to make our stay relaxing. And afternoon/evening highlights for us: Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth with Bite Into Maine lobster rolls and whoopie pies, dinner at Eventide in Portland and The Lobster Shack at Two Lights in Cape Elizabeth, Maine Escape Games (some of the best we've ever experienced), Palace Diner breakfast/lunch in Biddeford, and of course, the shops in Scarborough for seafood, pastries and fresh pasta. Mary Jane, thanks for being in touch so quickly when I reached out, and for giving us our space to totally chill at your home. It was memorable.

A Nice Quiet Option

This property gave us the option of a nice house in a quiet neighborhood instead of the incurring all the noise and traffic on the Portland shore. It’s less than 20 minutes away from Portland.. The home is older but there are many obvious improvements throughout the house to make it more updated and comfortable. I was very impressed with the owner, Mary Jane, who was a pleasure to work with. Whatever questions I had were always answered in a timely manner. You may want to give this property a look.

Best House in Maine

This is not just a rental house, it is a HOME!! This home has a Maine farmhouse vibe but with all the modern amenities. Kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to prepare a meal. Plenty of dishes, glasses cutlery, pots and pans etc . The home has a cozy, comfortable living area with big TV. The beds are all comfortable. There is even a memory foam rollaway that was super comfy. The lower level has a great all purpose room. It has a daybed, TV, and best of all it is stocked with an assortment of toys that my 3 year old grandson loved. There is a full size washer and dryer on this level as well. The home was stocked as though it was our personal home with plenty of towels, sheets, soap, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, bath soap etc. There are plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, beach toys, a beach wagon and even a beach umbrella! I can't say enough about how perfect this house is. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 kids. There was plenty of space both inside and out for all of us! Thank you Mary for a fantastic stay! Hope to stay again next summer!!!

Great Location!

The house is accurately described and very well appointed. It's filled with antiques yet very cozy and comfortable. The location was perfect for day trips to Kennebunkport and Freeport and there is so much to do in Portland (we highly recommend the ferry to Peak's Island).

We were 5 adults staying for my daughter's wedding at Wentworth Lodge. The house is comfortable and very clean. The owners left us coffee and locally made donuts. They were quick to answer a question about something we needed. We are VRBO owners ourselves and this nice Scarborough home gave me ideas for our rental.

Perfect Location

This house could not be in a more perfect location. If your looking for a central location to be able to travel to many towns within an hour, Scarborough is the place! The house was so well taken care of and the owners literally thought of everything. There were multiple beaches all within a 15 minute drive and the owners had chairs, toys, umbrellas and anything else you could need for the beach. This house was perfect for a family with young children and we would absolutely stay here again in the future.

We lived in this house with our children until they were grown but had to relocate to New Hampshire for work reasons. We are happy to come back here when we can and to share this beautiful area with others.

Why they chose this property

We love Black Point Rd because it starts on Rt 1, an historic eastern highway known here as The Boston Post Rd,and ends at The Cliff Walk in Prout’s Neck. The four mile stretch of road offers up a microcosm of Maine life
