Two Fat Ponies is located within a five-kilometre radius of over ten renowned Clare Valley wineries, it is the ideal spot to stay whilst you explore this classic rural region of colonial South Australia, the Clare Valley.
The space Set on forty acres and with twenty acres of vines, the property is a lovely, quiet spot to refresh and unwind. Two Fat Ponies is designed as a couples retreat and offers two cosy log cabins perched side by side five hundred metres up the driveway off 60 Saw Mill Road, Sevenhill. Cute and quaint, the log cabin accommodation is quiet and in a romantic setting.
Each cabin is equipped with Queen size beds, a bathroom, lounge area and a kitchenette. Both the Sunrise and Sunset cabins enjoy spectacular views, as well as air conditioning in the summer and pot belly fires in the winter (firewood is available for purchase).
In the mornings, you will wake to the sounds of the abundant birdlife and the odd kangaroo and wild deer. It is a bird watchers paradise. The night skies resemble a planetarium when the skies are clear of cloud cover. Astronomy lovers have stayed to view the spectacular vision of stars from the cabins high up on the hill!

Even with regular pest control we have millepedes who come and visit the cabins especially during harvest and after the rain! As with all country living there may be the occasional creepy crawler visitors but we supply bug spray and a dust buster.

Private, quiet and relaxing, beautifully maintained cabins, surrounded by lovely scenery, close to everywhere we wanted to go. Host was very informative with directions etc. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend.
A little larger than a cabin in the caravan park, and on par. Would be much quieter, with far better views over the vineyards. Julie and Peter very pleasant owners, giving us information of the area.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review, Patricia. We would really appreciate your feedback in regards to how to improve, as we have recently refurbished the cabin and it is built right on top of the vineyard with birds eye panoramic views. We do apologise if there was any noise in the tranquil setting, however, we are a working vineyard.
My partner and I stayed in the sunrise cabin last weekend. It was lovely and very inviting. The cabin had everything we needed and a beautiful indoor fire which heated the place up. The views overlooking the vines were spectacular and we couldn’t fault anything from our weekend stay. We will definitely be back.

Dated!
Cottage was warm and bed comfortable, but otherwise the property was dated and many things old-fashioned and tired (rather than charming!). No internet (as expected from Stayz advertising). Nice gesture to leave a bottle of wine and welcome note on Stayz, but otherwise disappointing. Not good value for money.

Really nice stay. The home was warm and cosy. Fire wood was fabulous and the outdoor fire pit was great. Lots of good about this place. Very comfortable bed.
The only negative would be - they definitely need to up grade the 2 mountain bikes. They were old and rusty. Very unsafe. One of the brakes on one of the bikes didn’t work at all. Terrible condition. We ended up going to hire 2 bikes from Clare instead to ride on the trail.
Over all had a lovely 2 night stay.

Thanks Paula and glad you enjoyed the property. Yes, the bikes were complimentary for our guests but weren’t up to standard and will be replacing them with brand new bikes, which will also be free of charge for our guests.
Kind regards,
Julie & Pete.
Perfect spot to enjoy the Clare valley wineries and to unwind and enjoy the views
Really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was clean, modern, unfussy and really comfortable. The place warmed up really quickly (it was a very cold weekend) and the log fire added to the cosy feel. Lovely to wake up to the panoramic views and kangaroos sunning themselves on the hill! We would definitely recommend stay here.
