We enjoyed a very comfortable stay with our family in this beautiful house. Lots of space, very clean and well equipped. Importantly we were able to take our dogs.
Lovely mature plants everywhere.
Lots of room for family gathering.3 bathrooms 5 bedrooms so each group had own space.Eyemouth ideal seaside holiday for little ones, very compact.Everything close to hand.
Well equipped house, extremely comfortable.Large sofas in lounge so we could all spread out.
We absolutely loved our stay at the house. Everything was perfect for a weekend with our family coming together. The house itself is beautiful and historically interesting, we loved researching it's past! Beds were very comfy and all the rooms were so spacious. It was brilliant to have the high chairs, cot and baby bath as we were travelling with our 18 month old. Made it so much easier for us. We particularly loved the grand dining room for eating as a family. The location was lovely, we enjoyed the walk around the grounds and also the short walk to Eyemouth. There were lots of lambs in the surrounding land which made the kids very happy!
Fab trip, thank you!
As you go up the drive towards this gorgeous, fortified house set on top of a hill, you go over two cattle grids. This entrance suitably prepares you for the beauty of the house in which you stay.
Surrounded by beautiful gardens filled with exciting plants, this house has ample room for 10 people. The bedrooms are huge, with comfortable beds and linens, and lots of light from all the big windows. The bathrooms are also gorgeous and well renovated, and the heated towel rails are a big bonus.
You can feel the history of this place, especially when you meet the owner and he tells you all the exciting tales of the previous inhabitants.
There is also so much to do in this area. St Abbs, a picturesque fishing village, with stunning coastal walks, and Coldingham Bay, one of the cleanest and most beautiful bays in the country, are a short 15 min drive away. Across the border, the beautiful Berwick-upon-Tweed is well worth a visit. Even Bamburgh on the Northumberland coast is not so far away. But one of our favourite places was North Berwick with its miles of beautiful beaches, rock pools, and the best fish and chips in Scotland!

Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back soon!
This is a truly beautiful property in acres of land. Everything was clean upon check-in and the rooms were huge.
There was everything we needed.
Lovely walks in the area and close to the beach too.
Being woken up by the cows was a different experience! We loved being surrounded by the animals in the fields. We would highly recommend this property. The intriguing history of the house was a bonus!
Thank you Cat.
Old Linthill was the perfect setting for our group of 9 adults and children as we explored the Borders region. It is both ‘grand’ and ‘welcoming’ with all modern conveniences and plenty of space for all.
A beautiful house, lovely big rooms (not the kitchen). Well equipped and beautifully decorated. We all enjoyed the local walks, especially the dogs. Eyemouth has everything you need.. would definitely come again.
We loved this house , spacious, warm , comfortable , lots of interesting local art, but not so fussy or posh that young children and dogs were a worry. When we had to contact Cat she was helpful and replied quickly. It was an easy walk to Eyemouth .

An excellent family week’s holiday over Easter, surrounded by daffodils and sunshine.
Good value for money, this property suited our family needs very well. Only two minor problems: the key code was never sent to us, so we had to phone the owner to gain access initially. And one of the showers had a broken thermostat so that it gushed only scaldingly hot water. Everything else worked perfectly, and we were impressed by the cleanliness of everything on arrival. Beautifully decorated and well equipped this house is situated in lovely countryside and within walking distance of Eyemouth.

Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. It is a very special property that is perfect for families and friends to relax. The key code was definitely sent in advance of your stay but apologies if it hit your spam folder and you didn’t find it. We found your note about the shower that you left on departure. We would have been very happy to send somebody to fix it if you had mentioned it during your stay. It was fixed as soon as we were informed. We hope to welcome you back.
We loved staying in this unusual and interesting house. It was quite magical driving up the hill in the dusk to find the austere house looking so welcoming with lamps in every window and the heating on. The bedrooms are spacious, the kitchen very well equipped and the sitting room with its log fire a lovely place to relax. We would have loved to stay longer.
We thought the house was very nice, warm and comfortable. Lovely location.
We have rented properties in the past and found them not quite as expected. However this house was perfect and we were wishing we could have stayed longer!
Had a brilliant stay here, property is absolutely huge and the fields and woodland around are stunning. Lots of original features in the property and has its quirks. Clean and well equipped and plenty of space for a large group of people. Would definitely recommend!
We loved the house, it's really spacious and well kitted out with everything you might need. There was a baby bath, changing mat, highchair, travel cot and toys, which is way more than you'd get at most rentals so I was really impressed. The living room was really comfortable and the whole house was kept nice and warm. We'd love to visit again in future.
Large comfortable house full of character & fantastic for a family holiday
Old Linthill is a fabulous large country home tucked away up a long private driveway. It was perfect for a family holiday (age range 13 to 75) with our family dog. There is lots to do in the area, and being able to explore South East Scotland and Berwickshire made for some great days out. Favourite trips were to Edinburgh, Holy Island and a coastal walk around St Abbs. We loved the house - very comfortable and spacious, and would definitely return as we ran out of time to visit all the places we wanted to!
An amazing property which was ideal for our group of three adult couples and our dogs. Close enough to Eyemouth and the coastal paths yet it was remote enough not to worry about letting the dogs out unsupervised. I’d love to go back and spend a New Years eve here!
This is a lovely property for a family to have a holiday together, beds were very comfortable, plenty of hot water. Living room sofas clearly need replacing with springs hanging out of the bottom of one of them, and others starting to go. Garden wasn't secure, so dogs and children need to be properly supervised especially with the sheep being so close by. I realise that some of the information had been removed due to Covid 19 situation, but a plan of where the grounds extend to would have been useful. Overall, we had a really good holiday, and enjoyed the area. The owner was excellent at responding to any queries.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay! We are a bit puzzled about the comment about the grounds though as there are new fences between the garden and the fields with sheep surrounding the garden so the boundaries of the gardens are fairly clear because of that and it is not an issue that has been mentioned before, but we will bear it in mind. The house is a significant way from the road so we don't perceive too much danger for children and dogs unless they are left unattended for a long period of time. We noted after your stay that part of one of the sofas had some support wires out of place underneath – as it was only on one side our housekeeper thought that somebody might have bounced on it. We apologise if this happened before your stay and was not noticed. Had we been told about it during your stay we could have fixed it. This has now been repaired and having checked the other sofas they are comfortable and in good condition. Thank you for leaving our property clean and tidy. We hope you will return!
This is a lovely house perfect for a family get together. It has bags of character, beautifully positioned in a nice part of the Borders. The rooms are capacious but warm and homely. The decor is simple and classic . The public rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The ambience is conducive to a happy holiday.
The local area is great for those who enjoy the outdoors. There is easy access to great walks, runs and cycle routes. The air is healthy.
There are numerous sights of historic, artistic or culinary interest close by.
Go with an open mind and explore bravely and you will be rewarded with memorable experiences.
The house will always be at the centre of your stay and is a tremendous base to recuperate from your adventures.
Great place ideal for what we wanted would stay again
