Great property, surprisingly large and full of modern amenities and everything you need. We loved the location, very quiet spot with private garden, great for a BBQ. Also it is only a very short walk to Kingswear ferry and into Dartmouth.
Fabulous, this place is well-sited for exploring the local area. It has all you need for a short break. Not salubrious, but good value nonetheless.

Wow, I'm not sure that's the compliment it was meant to be! We spent a lot last year putting in new flooring, complete new kitchen with top of the range oven, hood fridge, washing machine and dishwasher, new smart heater and redecorating but hey, like the man says, we're good value and if you are more interested in spending time in our beautiful part of Devon than checking out the furnishings then you'll have a lovely time!

The flat was very well equipped. Excellent shower. Nice touches , nautical theme in keeping with location.Enjoyed our stay here.
From the first day all our queries were answered, check in details were given to us well in advance.
All white goods were of excellent quality, plenty of cooking. eating and drinking utensils, nice kitchen and bathroom facilities, all in all we really had a wonderful stay. Thank you Peter and Tina.
Well equipped apartment in Kingswear with it’s own parking space, absolute blessing in this area. Approx 10-15 min walk to the ferry across to Dartmouth, can be a tricky walk in the dark as along the creek and no footpath on the road. But we’ll worth it as local pubs in Kingswear very good and loads of choice where to eat and drink across in Dartmouth. Lovely week and would certainly visit again.
Convenient level position in Kingsweir.Good sized flat with all amenities.I am disabled & didn't like the very low double bed which was not very comfortable. Same goes for the settee - I had to use the cushions to sit comfortably.

Hi Roger, we're glad you liked the flat and enjoyed your stay.
We did discuss your disabilities before you rented the flat and we did give you the opportunity to back out of the rental if you felt it might be difficult to move around.
The bed and sofa are in the normal height range but I appreciate that you found them difficult. I also find lower beds awkward so we can look at that for the future.
It was nice to meet you briefly when I visited during your stay.
Best regards,
Pete
What a little gem , the apartment was lovely , everything you need and more .. the area we stayed was lovely , beautiful walks and right at the creek .. my husband and I and our 2 little dogs had a wonderful time .
We walked through the woods down to the front sat had coffee and watched the world go by .. such a relaxing holiday .
Thank you to Pete for all his help and great information of the area .. and things to do .. we did them all .
we definitely would love to come and stay again .

Nice property overall
Excellent position for enjoying this part of Devon. So loved the Waterhead Creek walk into Kingswear, which Molly the Beagle enjoyed every morning. Spacious well equipped flat but we could tell it was the end of the summer season as mold around bath and wall in the bathroom - cleaners must not see this as part of their remit. That aside all was good and the owners very helpful when we lost the paper with the key code on it and had a query about rubbish collections!!! Would stay again.

Thanks for a nice review. As the flat is booked most of the summer we don't, as owners, get to see it as often as we would like and so were rather horrified to see the mould in the bathroom when we did get in last week. We have a) dealt with it and b) informed the cleaners that it needs dealing with at every cleaning cycle so it doesn't develop again. Please accept our apologies!

Brilliant place, away from centre but within 10 minutes creek side stroll.
Excellent apartment, well appointed, great layout and size for two people. The pictures and description were spot on. The garden is beautiful, it has a large patio and terraced borders full of ferns and woodland plants going backwards to the woods. It would benefit by having the next terrace landscaped for seating so you’d catch the late afternoon/ early evening sun. It’s very close to the creek and beautiful walks along the River Dart. We had an excellent time, we walked into Kingswear every evening or walked and caught ferry to Dartmouth and had dinner. Great location, many places in Dartmouth and Kingswear do not have parking or gardens so this was perfect.
Ideal for what we wanted, so handy for all the places we wanted to go to, very convenient for the Ferry across to Dartmouth, Steam train and excellent dog walks. Also the flat was situated in a very quiet cul-de-sac and one of the few places with its own car parking outside the property on its own drive.
Peter was a great host for his property answering all queries promptly.
The appartment was better than described complete with a new well equipped modern kitchen.
The location is very relaxed and central to towns in Devon, Brixham, Paignton, Torquay, Totnes and some lovely beaches, Blackpool sands & Slapton. Kingswear is very quiet with only one pub, shop & a bistro open at the moment. Dartmouth is a quick local ferry ride away.
Steam train to Paignton also just down the road.
The property has on site parking & a car is desirable for this area.
Very dog friendly as the rear garden is enclosed.
Overall, we loved it, fantastic holiday, thanks Peter.

A spacious downstairs accommodation ideal for two people plus a dog. Well kitted out kitchen with good quality implements, crockery etc. Be warned though, the TV reception for this area is poor and only decent for BBC! You might need an Ipad if a ITV fan The property is located a 12 minute walk to the ferry at Kingswear and there are some very good dog walks in the vicinity. The area around the Creek is also very pleasant. The only downside to the property is that the outside, especially the rear garden, could do with some urgent attention. The garden is overgrown and not too pleasant to sit in. Also very gloomy at the back. One bonus is that the bus stop for Brixham and Paignton is only 80 yards away with a regular bus service. An enjoyable holiday!

TV reception has always been a problem in this area as the steep hills in Kingswear mask both the satellite and terrestrial transmissions. That's why we have a broadband connection because all the main channels are available over the internet.
There is only a patio area not a garden so we're not sure about that part of the comment. There is a bank coming down from the woods at the rear of the property, which we like to keep as wild as possible for the wildlife. There is a plum tree in amongst it and some plants like ferns and irises but the area available for sitting in is all patio, which we weed as often as possible but in the summer they sprout up very quickly.
The flat is in a wooded valley so while I wouldn't describe it as 'gloomy' it is often in the shade. It's ideal for walks and wildlife watching and that's why we've always aimed our marketing at people who enjoy the outdoors, like we do!

This is a difficult criticism to respond to but here goes:
Darkness - The flat is in a small wooded valley. It's part of the charm of the place. It's full of wildlife, birds etc. but clearly the trees absorb some of the sunlight, especially during summer. The flat isn't 'dark'. It has big windows but it's in a shady area, which when it's really hot is something of a relief.
Condensation - This is caused by a combination of human activities and lack of ventilation. Human breath (especially at night) releases water vapour. So does cooking or showering. The flat is not inherently damp with condensation. It only becomes 'full of it' if people don't open the windows (even just a crack) or use the extractor fan in the bathroom. We implore people to use basic common sense; if you seal the flat up by shutting the doors and windows all the time then your own activities will inevitably cause condensation. It doesn't need to happen and indeed, for most of us who use the flat, it doesn't.
Well equipt property in a good location. Beds pretty uncomfortable but other than that great place.

Thanks for your review and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. On the bed issue, we changed the mattress for a firmer one two years ago because someone said the last one was too soft! Oh well, everyone has a different preference!
Great accommodation, location, realised parking at the property really useful, let us walk, use the bus. Limited shops but two good pubs, for meals, easy ferry rides to Dartmouth.
We had a nice stay in your flat. It was very comfortable and well equipped. The king size bed was much appreciated. Everything was good. Shame it was quite damp inside, but we kept the doors and windows opened as much as possible. It was a great base for our week holiday.
Thank you.

Sorry about the damp. The week before you stayed we had torrential rain storms and some water came under the back door! The problem will be fixed by the time you come again.
In a perfect location to enjoy Dartmouth and the surrounding area the perfect place to park the car up for the week lovely walks straight from the door and lots of nice places to visit by ferry. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay and a big bonus for us was a garden for the dogs I do think we would prefer to stay in Kingswear rather than Dartmouth as we enjoyed the walks and ferry rides so much Hopefully we will be back soon Thank you

About the host
Hosted by Peter Martin
We are active, outdoorsy people with three dogs and a small boat which is on a trailer outside the apartment. We love walking in the woods and along the coast paths, and spending days with the dogs on the beach at Man Sands. We also love pottering up the river on our boat and visiting the Anchorstone Cafe at Dittisham, famous for local seafood. We are also interested in wildlife particularly the many seabirds we see on the Dart, including egrets and oyster catchers. It's also a good day when we see seals and dolphins in the harbour! Having said that, we also love to settle in with a good book and a glass of something nice, and just relax!
Why they chose this property
We bought the upstairs apartment in 2006 because we have always loved Dartmouth and being by the sea. We acquired the downstairs flat in 2012. We like Kingswear because it's a bit quieter than Dartmouth and because the dog walking and boat launching is right on the doorstep. However, all the fun and bustle of Dartmouth is just a short ferry ride away (or trip on the boat) but we can leave it behind when we want a little peace! Kingswear has a proper village atmosphere and it's a lovely little community where everyone knows each other. We chose the apartment for it's simple practicality, as we spend most of our time outdoors. Also, we have our own parking space!
What makes this property unique
Being in a cul-de-sac means the 'street', such as it is, is safe and quiet. The most noise we get comes from the owls in the woods at night!
