The property has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard by the owners, providing a superb holiday home comprising the following: Open plan Lounge, Dining and Kitchen, small utility room on the ground floor, three bedrooms (an en-suite) and a bathroom on the upper floors.
The cosy lounge has a large leather 3 seat sofa and two arm chairs around an electric feature wood burning stove. A large TV is positioned above the stove on the chimney breast which is connected to an Apple TV box that has a Netflix account, for those that wish to chill out in an evening.
The dining area has a large table and six chairs and plenty of room. The fully equipped luxury kitchen with marble worktops includes an Aga electric oven/grill and gas hob. An American style large fridge freezer with filtered water and ice, micro-wave, toaster and dishwasher.
Off the kitchen there is a small utility room that has a washer dryer, utility sink and a useful downstairs toilet. Parking is on street at the front of the property with a permit.
The rear yard is a beautiful place to sit on a warm evening. A perfect spot for a morning coffee alfresco or an evening glass of wine.
The main bedroom has a king size iron bed, with plenty of wardrobes and an en-suite shower room with basin and wc. The rear bedroom has a comfy double bed, single wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Loft / third bedroom has two single beds, (please note that upon request these can be made up to form a king size bed - although guests should be aware that this room does have head height restrictions being within the roof space. There is a travel cot available for use.
The main bathroom consists of a large bath with overhead shower, wc, bidet and basin.

Excellent communication throughout. A very well equipped and comfortable cottage in a quiet area but only a few minutes walk from the river, a few more minutes to the city centre and, in our case, the Christmas markets. Lots of nice touches made this a real home from home. We had a great week here.

Perfect location
The property is perfectly located close to the city centre. Clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for an unjustly.
This is a great family home within easy walking distance of the city centre. Comfy beds, big fluffy towels, and a very relaxing environment. We loved our stay here!
The house was exceptionally located for us to walk into York to enjoy the Christmas Market. There were some treats waiting for us which we enjoyed and thought was a nice touch. The check in process was clear, and we even received a phone call the day before making sure that we had received the check in details and if we had any questions regarding our stay, which again, was a nice touch. The house is well decorated, and we loved the American size refrigerator with ice maker, which as an American, I was very happy about and used a lot!! We would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again when we travel back to visit York again.

Excellent family break location
Wonderful house, very warm, great amenities and easy walk to York city centre. High chair and travel cot provided and lovely bubbles and treats provided. Highly recommend to any one visiting York. Great to have parking provided
Beautiful & well-equipped house inside the city wall
The owners have done a great job. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated and has everything you could need. The location was perfect - seconds from the wall and under 5 minutes ’ walk to the city centre.

A lovely place
This house is great, very homely. Close enough to centre of York to be able to walk in and enjoy all York has to offer, yet far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Have stayed here a number of time and will be staying again.

Lovely property in a great location
Fairfax Street is a very comfortable and welcoming house, with plenty of room for our party of 4 adults and two children. It's smart and very well-kept, especially considering that it's dog-friendly. The location is excellent, with easy walking to everywhere in central York, but on a very quiet street. There are a couple of very squeaky floorboards in the attic bedroom which sound in the master double below, but understandable as it's a period property. We had a great stay and would defininteley recommend.

Comfort and joy!
The property was better than expected for location and quality. Everything was clean, organised and furnished to high standards with thoughtful amenities provided, even a hairdryer in each room! Quiet area and neighbours. We had a lovely stay, ate at local cafes and went on long wintery walks through historic York.

Great location, lovely property, parking easy
We were looking for somewhere close to the centre of town with parking that would fit a Land Rover. We expected to be disappointed, but 48 Fairfax Street was perfect. Inside the city walls, residents parking available, very quiet at night. House very well looked after, no complaints at all.
We met the grandparents here. They drove but we did it by train. You could easily do York without a car if you stayed here. We walked everywhere including from the train station. I liked how close it was to the wall but it was a quiet location.

Fantastic! The location was brilliant, the house is delightful with plenty of room for all. Lovely little touches by host, like fresh milk, tea, coffee and bottle of fizz. Such a little gem I have recommended to friends already. Stays York were also extremely helpful and really impressed by the curtesy call the day before our trip.

Perfect spot
Lovely property on a very quiet street, but only a 5 minute walk from the town centre. The spec was really high, lovely plush carpets upstairs, and the bathroom and kitchen were better than at home! Lovely little gifts on arrival and nice touches, like having coffee, milk etc. We had one minor problem, resolved by text message within minutes.
I can't imaging a better spot to be in York. A short walk to everything while in a very quiet neighbourhood on a cute little street. The flat was modern and had excellent features and a lovely kitchen. Six of us were comfortable. Having 3 bathrooms was great.
The third floor bedroom had very creaky floors over the main bedroom.
I would definitely rent this flat again. We all loved it!

Excellent house when visiting York
We stayed as a family of 5 adults, and the layout was ideal - on the ground floor the space was great for socialising with open plan lounge, diner and kitchen, leading to outside space. There is an added bonus of a downstairs toilet. The outside space is compact but catches the sun very nicely during the day, with space for their table and four chairs, and for the dogs to enjoy too. There are then two floors, one with two bedrooms and the main bathroom, with the main bedroom having a lovely ensuite. The second floor has a sloping ceiling, our son is 6ft 2, and just managed - the bed can be made into a kingsize but being tall the headroom is restricted, but manageable. Beds are very comfy. Everywhere clean and well equipped. Location is great, quiet neighbourhood, with amenities close and a lovely street nearby with wine bars, artisan shops and breakfast eateries, in addition to York being a 10 minute walk including a beautiful walk by the river. Overall an excellent place to stay, with great hosts.

Lovely property
This is a lovely property in a really pleasant area which is very close to the centre of York and yet is quiet and peaceful.
The property is very clean, well equipped and well presented with comfortable beds and furniture and everything is well maintained apart from a small issue with a bathroom door handle, which is the only reason for the lower rating in the condition category, We were very pleased with the provisions and treats that were left for us and the information provided is done so in a warm and welcoming way so you feel very much at home here. I would definitely stay here again.

Second stay at 48Fairfax Street. Lovely clean and comfortable house. Good location. Highly recommend
The property was perfect for all our needs, kitchen was lovely and beds and baths all spacious, modern and clean.
The host helped us out right after we arrived as we were inept with Skeleton keys :-). The location was fantastic, with access to the city wall at the end of the street as well as access to the old city, museums, galleries and shops a short walk over the bridge.
We absolutely recommend this property and our thanks to the host for their lovely home and and lots of great information.

This pristine property was perfectly located in York, just a short walk away from so many destinations and attractions, including the wall. My 3 sisters and I, all 45+ years old, found the home welcoming and comfortable during our stay. When we return to York, we would definitely stay here again. Just a gem!!!
