The most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. Duvet tog rating suited arctic weather conditions, not a warm UK autumn. Mattress very lumpy and soft. Most nights I slept on settee.
ALSO given the Covid 19 restrictions on socialising a desk top freezer to supplement a refrigerator ice box would have greatly simplified our catering arrangements.
These issues will prevent us from booking again or recommending to others

We were so looking forward to a family holiday with the Grandchildren in a part of the world that means a lot to us. We range in ages from 1 year old to 70 year old. In the light of Covid-19 serious decisions had to be taken as to whether one family or the other would take up the cottage whilst trying to self/distance-isolate. The young family developed the sniffles so it was decided that the 70 year old would go but only for the Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
I phoned on the Saturday morning to cancel our holiday in light of the latest announcement from the Government to stay at home.
The first person I spoke to suggested that in the light of the circumstances, we might be able to transfer to another date later in the year. She put me through to the booking department where I was admonished for not having cancelled sooner! Really, at a time when everything is changing from day to day, hour by hour! She was quite rude to me making it feel like it was my fault. I was rung back and informed that 'hard luck' £400 gone, holiday gone, Please note: It is not about the money, but to say one thing and then be told off and told something different is not acceptable. Raise hopes and then dash them. Having messaged the company the only come back was 'sorry', challenging times' Yes we know, but good, friendly customer service, no matter what is essential. There was no way I was going to risk my family's health and it does mean that the cottage didn't need a deep clean as we never used it.
I CAN'T say 'yes' I would use the company again., but I would dearly love to be able to use this Gardeners Cottage in Thornham which looked ideal for our family. Sorry Norfolk Hideaways, having had excellent service up to that point you've let yourself down. To the owner of the cottage. I'm so sorry we couldn't use your beautiful cottage it would have been ideal.
Our best wishes to everyone in these very trying times.
NOTE: YES I would recommend this property even though we didn't use it.

A lovely cottage in a good location
We stayed at the cottage for a week with our young daughter. We liked that the property was set back from the road giving both privacy and quiet. The cottage was well equipped for us all. We made use of the garden using the table for breakfast and then later in the day playing with the provided swing ball etc in the shade of the tree. The garden was secure too if you are taking a young family. We were able to walk to the local deli/ cafe but there are also lots of places to visit by car within 30 minutes. We would recommend this cottage and consider returning ourselves.

Very lovely cottage and garden!
We really appreciated the comfort and warmth of the heating particularly as the weather was very cold windy and wet for most of our stay, obviously that could not be helped, but we were cosy and could have heat whenever we needed it. The cottage had everything anyone could wish for, very nice. Lovely peaceful village and lovely area!

Beast of the East Week
One of the sofas very uncomfortable and an extra lamp in the sitting room would have given better atmosphere. For hygiene purposes pillow protectors should be in place. As we were unable to venture too far, due to the snow, a larger and more upto date TV would have been appreciated also a few board games.

Beautiful Cottage
We had a lovely week at Gardiner's Cottage. The cottage itself is well located, was very clean and well appointed, we really couldn't have asked for more and will certainly return again.
Just a small piece of feedback was that the mattress on the top bunk was not very robust and the wires could be felt by hand but overall, this is a really lovely cottage and we loved it there!

Gardeners Cottage
Lovely cottage, well decorated and furnished, apart from the sofas in the sitting room, which were a bit grubby and worn. On arriving the cottage was very cold, and took a long time to warm up.
We loved the garden and outlook to the rear of the property. It was also in walking distance of the pubs and Deli, which was a bonus.
We would stay there again, and recommend it to friends and family.
We have stayed in a few Sheepskin cottages, and they provide a welcome pack of things like bread, butter, jam, cookies, milk, which would be a nice touch.

Best cottage yet!
Great house, best we have stayed in since we started holidaying in Norfolk. Really super clean and comfy and wonderful decor. Kids room was just perfect and so were the little kid friendly touches throughout the house. Thornham is a great village with amazing pubs and close to our favourite beaches of old Hunstanton and Brancaster. Will definitely book again. But could we have better weather next time please!!

Fab location
This was our third stay in Thornham and Gardeners Cottage was a wonderful choice as our base. Location in village was good with the beach, deli and three pubs all within a short stroll. The cottage was comfortable and welcoming and the garden great to relax in after a long days walking. Highly recommended and we will be returning for another fab week soon.

comfort
Only thing is that we found the duvet too hot, but sure for others it may be just right. Would have appreciated access to lighter bed linen.
The use of the house phone was much appreciated as we had no mobile phone service and had to contact other family members to give directions to the cottage- thank you.

Comfort and convenience in an immaculate cottage
Very pretty and convenient location for walking the coast and enjoying local restaurants. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Incredibly comfortable bed and brilliant bathroom. Slightly tricky pulling out of driveway (limited sight lines), restricted cupboard space for storing food and lawn could have been mowed but all things considered these are minor complaints. Very well stocked for a self-catering cottage with many extra touches such as laundry detergent, hand soap, dish cloths, washing up liquid, and tissues in all rooms. Great space for a couple to relax for a week.

The perfect Christmas getaway !
We wanted to do something different this Christmas but didn't want the formality of a hotel and so decided for the first time to try a cottage, we weren't disappointed! Gardener's Cottage was a comfy, relaxing home from home for us and our guests from around the country who came to stay for a few days at a time. Everyone's reaction was the same, 'Wow!' We were concerned about having everything we needed for a stress free Christmas but it was all there, even a sparkling Christmas tree beside the cosy fire. Everyday we walked on a different beach without having to go far and returned to our warm retreat. There are so many super places to eat in the area, we had fantastic fish and chips at Eric's and a firelit meal at Shucks, the yurt! Both deli's were a source of tasty treats as well. It was obvious that this cottage is a lucky someone's holiday home and as a consequence every eventuality had been thought about. Would we go again? Without reservation, yes!
