Overall I was pleased with Leatheswater as a holiday let, but there are a number of simple additions which would change this from a 'good' let into a 'great' let.Positive Points:1/ Adjoined to the Hotel, so any issue easily resolved by contact with Hotel Manager, who was an excellent host. Recommend their breakfasts.2/ Great views of the Lake from the Let, and a good position for walks along the Lake and surrounding Fells.3/ Comfortable bed and modern shower room adjoined to bedroom.Negative Points:1/ Poor satellite TV (max. 15 stations only) and poor WIFI2/ Just enough crockery for two. Which means you cannot fill the dishwasher every time you use it. No tablets for dishwasher.3/ A plastic sink drainer and bowl would have been useful.4/ No breadboardIt is pity that with just a little thought and additional attention to detail, this could become a 'great' place to return to.

Lovely positioned apartment with a view of Thirlmere.
Lovely positioned apartment with a view of Thirlmere.
Apartment was cosy and warm, but with sufficient space for just two of us.
The only downside was that we forgot to take dishwasher tablets and we couldn’t see any provided.
We would certainly use this apartment again.

We booked this property partly because it had a bath which is a treat after a long walk. However there was no bath and the photos of the bedroom and bathroom were not of Leatheswater as it is now. It was more like living in a hotel as we could hear our neighbours coming and going and doors banging.
Having said that we had everything we needed for a short stay and the location was beautiful, perfect for us.

Comfortable apartment.
Comfortable apartment. Lovely bathroom. Had problem with fridge but owners put new fridge in next day, so that was good. Comfy bed. Porch at top of steps needs a bit of attention and steps could be a problem if you had mobility problems. All in all we had a good week in a lovely setting. Thank you.

We were very happy with Leatheswater, the apartment was very well equipped with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. Having stayed in a large number of self catering properties in the lake district over the last thirty five years I have to say that Leatheswater was one of the very cleanest. The views from the sitting room and kitchen were fabulous, and the brand new bathroom is excellent. The Wi-Fi worked very well without any issues throughout our stay. The owners live on the premises and are available to assist with any problems or questions you may have, not that we had any.

Very charming suite attached to the lovely hotel.
Very charming suite attached to the lovely hotel. Local pub 5 minutes walk serves delicious food.
Perfect location for walkers with the Helvellyn range being accessed on foot from the door and Keswick/Grasmere both 10 minutes by car.
A little pricy for what it was, and we had to buy our own mugs to have a decent cuppa (supplied mugs were two tiny tea cups)
Overall we had a wonderful week and would definitely consider returning in future.

The location is fantastic! Right on the side of Thirlmere with views over the lake.
The location is fantastic! Right on the side of Thirlmere with views over the lake. It's a bit isolated with nothing nearby except a pub over the road, which does do excellent food, but it's only a few minutes by car to Keswick. The cottage had suitable amenities but it lacked a DVD player which was advertised. There was plenty of storage space. The hotel garden is lovely. The steps up the side are quite steep.
