Water views and great location on the island. The house is positioned towards the end of a quiet boulevard on the north eastern end of the island (about 4kms from where the ferry terminal is located at the southern end of the island). The northern end of the island is where the main bays and beaches are. The water views from the house look towards North Stradbroke Island. There are no houses between you and the water and you can access Moreton Bay out the front of the property. A perfect place for entertaining, relaxing, fishing, swimming, boating and kayaking. There are a number of places on the island where you can eat out, with the closest to the house being the Bowls Club, which has a courtesy bus service. The island has playgrounds and parks (including a new skate park), a 9 hole golf course, a bike track, heritage walking trail, taxi and small local bus service, cafes, two supermarkets, fuel and a host of other services.
Large two storey home, dog friendly. All we ask is that pets are kept off the furniture and we prefer they sleep in the laundry.
The house is perfect for 3 couples or 2 small families. There is an upstairs and downstairs living area, with easy access shower and toilet on both levels. Upstairs has a massive deck off the living area, with open kitchen, dining and lounge (with TV and DVD player). There are two large bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed and the other with a queen and single bed. All the rooms have built-in-wardrobes. Downstairs there is a bedroom with a queen bed, and the rumpus room/bar area with flat screen TV and DVD player. There are also board games and a collection of DVDs at the house. There is wi-fi available at the property and mobile phone reception. The downstairs area flows out to a lower deck and sitting area. The small back yard is fenced and the house is fully screened. The house is designed for anyone looking to have a peaceful and relaxing short break or longer holiday with plenty of space for everyone.
Please note: The house is no longer accessible from the rear of the property as it is fenced off and as such the property is not suitable for anyone with a mobility impairment as there are multiple stairs from the front of the property to the 2nd floor of the house, with no hand rail on the external stairs to the first level. Also note that there are no parties allowed or gatherings, no excessive noise allowed and maximum of 6 people and no smoking on the premises. Breaking of any house rules results in immediate eviction, police action and all monies forfeited, including security deposit.
Boating, swimming and fishing out the front of the property
To the left of the house is an open beach area where you can swim and launch a tinnie or a kayak around the high tide. There is also an all tide ramp at the southern end of the island and a half-tide concrete boat ramp on the western side of the island at Dalpura Bay, which is a short two minute drive (or 15 minute walk) from the house. Dalpura Bay is also a good spot for a swim and a fish when the tide is in and a great place to sit and watch the spectacular sunsets. As well as being able to take a passenger ferry (which now accept GoCards) or a vehicle ferry to the island to access the property, you can pilot your own boat (or even a seaworthy kayak) to the house. You can anchor in the shallow bay out the front of the house for the week or the weekend. The local bay is protected from the North Easterly and the Westerly winds, which makes it ideal for kayaking in most conditions. There is a narrow slipper kayak at the property for the use of guests. There is open parking at the front of the property. Plenty of room for the boat and car.

The accommodation was perfect for our needs. It was less than one minute's walk to visit family, along the beach. Perfect. It was lovely being in the treetops, with a beautiful outlook. We couldn't have got better or closer accommodation. It worked well, and I hope to return later in the year. Thanks Greg.
Great big house, amazing location and views. Netflix etc on tv. Had a great time, There was a little plumbing noise coming from downstairs toilet but other than that really great house,
Great location and views to Stradbroke Island. Basically lived on the veranda. Excellent communication from host. As far a pet friendly accommodation goes this was pretty good.
We loved our stay at Golden Sands perfect for our family of 5 with room to spare. The house is huge with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. It is in a lovely quiet spot however if you have mobility issues there are many stairs up to the property which may not suit you. Beds were very comfortable with quality linen. We loved the balcony view and all the birds to spot. Will definitely be back one day.
Greg's property is great, so much rooms and different areas to spread out and enjoy. Amazing views of the water and lovely and quiet - would love to stay again!
A perfect relaxing getaway and wish that we couldn’t stayed for longer! Well fitted out inside for our stay with everything we need and the huge deck outside was our favourite part, will definitely be back with the rest of my family
This was a perfect get-away, which exceeded our expectations. Every aspect of the house was welcoming and comfortable. We spent lots of time on the spacious verandah, where sea breezes cooled each day and the view over the water added to the relaxing atmosphere. Tall trees provided shade for us and shelter for the many birds. Be aware of the many steps which provide access to the top floor...our daily excercise but perhaps not suitable for anyone with mobility restrictions. This was our first visit to Macleay Island and we'd love to come again. Thanks Greg for such a fabulous stay.We really appreciated being able to have our little dog with us as well.
